Continuing the one about Carol, Dick and the “ free “ holiday .

Carol has replied to Anne saying she is shocked that Anne would cancel her flight after promising it. Anne has told her that she gave her no option .
Both Barbara and I have messaged Carol saying that she has behaved badly and should apologise to Anne.

That was explained. They booked the villa. Sent the confirmation with contact details for the owner. They have now booked a different villa and are not telling Carol which one. So Dick has used the contact info for the villa owner to call and ask which villa they have changed the booking too. Carol knows that Anne will have used the same owner because the owner is an acquaintance and it would be the only way to get a refund for the old villa and a new booking for the new villa at such short notice.

Allhailthesun - Can I ask how Dick and Carol know the number but not the address? I know you said Anne had sent information but why would that not have the address? Have I missed something?

Looking at the confirmation e-mail that we have from our Villa holiday (Denmark) it has a house reference number and the number for the lettings agent/owner. We get our final pack when we collect the keys (although with the help of Google maps we know where it is).

I think that Dick was calling to find out whether Anne had really cancelled the original booking and to get the address of the new villa if applicable so they could swan up.

I think Villazilla is the best -zilla name we've had so far. Love it.

Or they could both by CFs. We have absolutely no way of telling.

On the other thread it is clear they are both CFs. Dick is known by the OP's and Barbara's husbands from a golf club as loud, aggressive, boorish and the type who snaps his fingers at wait staff. He boasted at the club about how 'the wife' scored a free holiday in the sun for them.

Carole didn't even ask Anne and the other ones if it was okay for Dick to come before he'd booked his flights. Instead she couched it as her being anxious to be without him for a week and then immediately followed it up with if they had the en suite room the other three would hardly see him. She refused to take 'no' for an answer and continued to push saying he was a decent man, no bother, she didn't understand, pretty much any tactic to make herself out as a victim.

The CFer is strong in both these gits.

You know that this holiday was a thank you to us for supporting Anna through her illness. And instead of be grateful YOU have made this all about YOU.

You have conspired with Dick for him to gate crash this holiday which YOU knew all along was a girls only holiday. You are putting YOUR needs above Anna's who is after all paying for it.

Stop saying YOU don't understand why Anna has cancelled YOUR holiday. To spell it out to you but you are behaving like a child who can not get her own way, and not the adult you are.

YOU know Dick was not and would have never been invited on this holiday. Instead the 2 of you thought you could use it to get a free holiday. As Dick has been bragging about the golf club.

Please do not contact us again, until after our holiday and then only if you are going to apologise for your appalling behavior.

The 3 of you need to block her at least until you have had your holiday, As Carole is going to continue to make this all about her and not celebrating Anna.

Oh and let Eddy spread the truth about Carole and Dick around the golf club. It may be the only way they see how bad the behaviour is.

Anyone else think that the most recent request for a meet up was so Carol could tell Anne that she now owed them the cost of Dick's flights since she cancelled Carol's....

That level of CF would absolutely see this as correct!

The absolute gall of some people - I genuinely don't know how CF's have the chutzpah to do what they do!

So many comments, I need to catch up with both threads, seems like a classic!

I would say that initially I was a little worried about Carol. However the more I have read I think she is pretty much an equal partner in the CF.

• she never voiced any anxieties/difficulties about travelling to Anne or the others when the holiday was first planned/booked yet apparently got Dick to book his ticket straight away without even mentioning it to the others. It is clear that they had intended to present the group with a fait de complis when it was too late
• Carol has not been at all apologetic about scuppering Anne's planned holiday - on the contrary she seems to feel a huge sense of entitlement to claiming Anne's generous gift of a girl's trip for a couple's holiday for her and Dick
• when she got some pushback about changing the holiday dynamics at the meeting on Sunday - rather than being embarrassed that she had misjudged the situation she pushed for what she wanted and she "couldn't see the problem", She also claimed that Anne and the others were "bullying her" - so she seems like the sort of person who throws in terms like "bullying" and "anxiety" when she wants to get her own way
• she feels entitled to the best and only ensuite bedroom for her and Dick as a couple - she made that clear (even though Anne is paying)
• the compromise deal on Sunday was that Carol would keep her flights and that Dick and Carol would arrange their own accommodation - but Carol/Dick had no intention of doing this - today Carol claimed they were "still looking" for accommodation with a week to go while Dick was stalking the group's villa booking. Doesn't sound like they intended to pay for their own
• Carol is now claiming to be "shocked" that her flight is cancelled - despite the sustained effort to sabotage Anne's holiday

-something with half UNpacked suitcases with dick in the background on a phone (landline obvs) and Spanish phrasebook possibly open at r for reservation.

• possibly some golf clubs and/or a torn up plane ticket on the bed

oh and Carole forlornly looking at a cancelled restaurant ‘meet up’ booking for 4 (enlarged it may show for 5 and In dicks name - that would be a good touch) You able to do anything along those lines ?
