Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

That’s not how nasa say they get past the van allen belts though

NASA agree you can’t go through them but say they go through the small gap between them.

It would be more believable if they say that the radiation wasn’t enough to kill a human

None of the animals they sent up first to test life could make it through survived though.

The first van Allen belt might be high radiation but not deadly initially, but the second belt would just be like going through a microwave.

RaptorWhiskers · 19/05/2019 22:37

we left stuff behind, like reflectors, that are visible from Earth
This. Undergraduate students and even amateur astronomers do simple experiments with bouncing off reflectors on the Moon. How else would they have got there?

we have lost the rocket technology that we had back then
I believe it’s due to lack of funding. America shut down its shuttle system in 2010. The Russian Soyuz system is now the only way to get people into orbit.

bebeboeuf · 19/05/2019 22:38

The trajectory nasa would need to go through the low radiation gap would need to be perfect.
So if they got it perfect they could in theory go through, but that same precise planning wouldn’t have been possible coming back

bebeboeuf · 19/05/2019 22:40

They’ve been saying since 2015 that they planned a manned moon mission by 2023, that’s now been pushed back a few more years.
I’m sure in that case they will all of a sudden find the rocket technology again?

NASA’s quote wasn’t anything about lack of funding

They are saying they are trying!

The mirror reflectors had been passed off as some kind of joke years ago I thought.

RaptorWhiskers · 19/05/2019 23:09

The 2023 mission is planned to use the new (very expensive) space launch system that’s currently being developed to replace the retired space shuttle. Currently the Russian Soyuz system is the only way to send astronauts into space. Imo America will just end up paying to use a commercial operation such as Space X instead.

Er no 😂

@OldUnit what do you mean by 'false flag'

SneakyGremlins · 20/05/2019 00:09

@LennyBelardo The what?

I reckon Jacko was murdered.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 20/05/2019 00:24

It’s fact that America flew the Bin Laden family out of the US just after 9-11. And that they armed Al Queda.

Sorry, but this is rubbish. I worked for McKinsey Consulting and the Binladens were clients. They were the nicest family I had ever worked with. The women and girls were ambitious and hardworking, the men and boys were respectful, intelligent and open-minded. The reason they changed the family name from ‘Bin Laden’ to ‘Binladen’ was to dissociate themselves from Osama. They despised him. And they most certainly did NOT fund Al Quaeda, that was him, initially from family money and latterly from donations.

AllAboutMeAlways · 20/05/2019 00:25

There are high powered pedos all over the place

Yeah. Plenty of low powered ones too Hmm

MyBlueMoonbeam · 20/05/2019 00:25

I agree I think 9/11 was potentially a false flag event

Are you fucking insane?????

MyBlueMoonbeam · 20/05/2019 00:46

9/11 but we’ll likely never know what actually happened in the run up, on the day or what followed.

The activity in shares just before it happened and the fact that nothing similar has happening since or before make me suspicious

9/11. I saw a programme with footage showing a different type of (non passenger) plane going into one of the towers. Also believe the towers would not have collapsed like that. Seems strange how coordinated and precise it was. Nothing similar has happened since.

Seriously? Jesus H Christ

I've been to Ground Zero twice & spoken to ordinary people who were there on that day - you people make me sick to my bloody stomach 🤬

calpoppincalpol · 20/05/2019 00:49

A while ago, somebody told me that they believe UC has been one measure of many brought in to help get rid of people ( lower benefit rates, no money for food , heating etc ) as a means of population control before reaching pension age to relieve the burden on the government of caring for an aging population (nhs, state pension etc) as they cannot stop immigration....... I see a point here . It does get me thinking

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 20/05/2019 01:05

I find it really offensive when people say things like I agree I think 9/11 was potentially a false flag event. I think there could be truth that the govt were alerted days before and didn't act (like the recent attacks in Sri Lanka) but to say that it was done on purpose is beyond the pale.

I'm sure many people will think I'm therefore a sheep and weak willed to believe that - well I'd rather believe that than the alternative.

I enjoy reading about CT as much as the next person, it's when people start believing them that I get annoyed.

Also things like this: My dad is no longer with us sadly, but he was never into conspiracies and a well respected Engineer for metal aircraft bits, very precise work.
he worked in simulations for all types of accident or disaster and he didn't believe it for a minute

I'd suggest you read some of the testimonies from civil engineers. By the way my dad is also an engineer very well regarded but as he's not a civil engineer he'd have no idea about the buildings.

Great reddit rabbit hole, thank you NameChangedNoImagination

Ohnotanothernamechange · 20/05/2019 07:50

I think people who think that the moon landings were faked are a bit thick. How on earth would it be possible to pull of a hoax like that?! Also remember the Cold War was still raging, as was the space race. If the Soviets had got wind of any kind hoax they would have made sure that everyone knew about it. Remember they had spies and double agents everywhere. They would have found out about it if it were a hoax.

We went to the moon! Deal with it!

If there is any kind of conspiracy around 9/11 it's that the government knew a terrorist attack was imminent and either chose not to act to prevent it, which I think is unlikely or they didn't know where or what the terrorists were going to do.

bebeboeuf · 20/05/2019 08:06

Thanks for calling me and others here a bit thick Hmm

RainbowSparklyTrainers · 20/05/2019 08:13

@girlraisedinthesouth but they were flown out of the Us, weren’t they? And I was talking about America arming al queda not the bin laden family.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 20/05/2019 08:17

@RainbowSparklyTrainers Indeed they were, for their own safety, which is entirely appropriate given the circumstances.

Sorry I misunderstood your funding point. You are right, the US were funding the Mujahideen as they were known then.

Lweji · 20/05/2019 08:21

Some counselling might help.

Bezalelle · 20/05/2019 08:25

Why is it offensive to question things? That's the opinion of people under dictatorships. It's never a bad thing to consider other possibilities, especially in a world where false flags have been used or planned before (e.g. Operation Northwoods, which is an eerie foreshadowing of 9/11).

bebeboeuf · 20/05/2019 08:35

Bezalelle - exactly.
I would consider myself as an intelligent person and will always question things whenever there is something that doesn’t fully add up.
It’s the scientist in me to look at every possible outcome

No one here is saying the earth is flat after all Grin
