Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

Some say it's discredited but there are still active investigations ongoing.

BunnyJumps · 19/05/2019 19:13

Dr David Kelly was murdered
Jill Dando - hitman

SamanthaBrique · 19/05/2019 19:18

@BishopBrennansArse When you say her private life, you mean someone had connections to the very highest? I've heard rumours...

BishopBrennansArse · 19/05/2019 19:23

That and a close friend

SamanthaBrique · 19/05/2019 19:24

I've heard about the single man who likes vacations at warm times of the year, of course...

Amber0685 · 19/05/2019 19:27

I think there is a cure for the common cold, but big pharma makes too much money to ever cure it.

DpWm · 19/05/2019 19:31

fancynancyclancy I think JFK was likely killed by an accidental shot from the SS

Despite the fact JFK received 2 bullet wounds, one through the head and one through the neck? Hmm

DpWm · 19/05/2019 19:32

I think there is a cure for the common cold.

It's called vitamin C...

@northernrunner, if your parents' pal was genuinely a member of the SAS, then they wouldn't know it. Not even close family members are told. Also, if he was SAS there is no way he would have been drunkenly mouthing off about state secrets in a pub, or anywhere else for that matter.

Mother87 · 19/05/2019 19:40

Bishop - please could I be pm'd about the Dando theory?

FiremanKing · 19/05/2019 19:41

@millythepink

You are completely correct. Members of the SAS are selected not just for their physical prowess but their intelligence and there is no way they would blab anything to anyone, and that includes extreme torture.

edsheeranpaidmoretaxthanccola · 19/05/2019 19:45

@BishopBrennansArse me too please. Have no idea how to PM on the app.

millythepink · 19/05/2019 19:50

@firemanking I only know a bit about this because several of DH's family are army officers. It's a safe bet that those who say they are SAS never are.

CrunchyCrumpet · 19/05/2019 19:53

@millythepink incorrect there...knowledge of someone being in the SAS can be passed on to friends and family it's the details of service that can't be.

NorthernRunner · 19/05/2019 20:10

millythepink you may be right...I did say I doubt the validity of my in-laws tale, but they are convincing. I believe some of the elements of their story must be true but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

FiremanKing · 19/05/2019 20:11

@millythepink

It’s the same with the Masons they don’t talk either.

AnyoneButAnton · 19/05/2019 20:14

The accidental JFK shot theory asserts that LHO did shoot at least two shots (with or without assistance from other parties) and one of them hit JFK in the neck but that the fatal head shot was accidental friendly fire. It’s backed up by a complicated ballistics theory which I do not have the skills to assess, but it’s got a certain “truthiness” to my mind.

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 20:14

DpWm I said think, but perhaps it was just LHO alone. However I do think a bodyguard accidentally firing a shot is more plausible then the mob or the CIA being behind it.

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 20:18

Yes AnyoneButAnton that’s the theory I’ve read about, but like you ballistics is not my forte.

mimibunz · 19/05/2019 20:30

bebebouef I’m married to a physicist. He says the physics of the trajectory involves difficult equations but not at all impossible. And there was and next year will be again a rocket big enough to support another launch. Also, we left stuff behind, like reflectors, that are visible from Earth.

bebeboeuf · 19/05/2019 20:52

It’s mkre about the ability to get through the van allen belts alive

Which the physicist in my family I’ve spoken to says isn’t possible

BishopBrennansArse · 19/05/2019 21:33

@AnyoneButAnton that's my belief too, both shots LHO made were serious but not necessarily fatal, the secret service operative did trip.... the weapon could have discharged. I've seen a programme showing ballistics experiments that back it up, too.

Yoursilentface · 19/05/2019 21:56

Moon landing was fake
911 was a set up
Government's are just a front, there are unelected people running shit and manipulating us through the media.
There are high powered pedos all over the place.

AnyoneButAnton · 19/05/2019 22:24

There’s a zillion sites on the internet debunking the Van Allen thing, and thousands of astronomers who are specifically qualified to do the sums (including the late Professor Van Allen) and have concluded that the risk from a rapid carefully planned trip through the belts is not 100% risk free but is not even close to immediately fatal.
