Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

Still waiting for bebeboeuf to explain why the Krays possibly having Jewish decent is relevant.

And how posting ramblings from blatantly anti-Semitic websites does not make you anti-Semitic.

GrumpyCatLives · 23/05/2019 14:12

Can I have the Dando pm please? Smile

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/05/2019 14:13

X-posted partly with MrsGaryLightbody

Yes, who would believe a lowly police officer over an establishment figure anyway? Especially when evidence, witnesses and psychology experts emerged to testify to your being a known CT-obsessed, narcissistic fantasist, have documented MH problems and any number of other reputation-destroying facts. You might have absolutely no personal recollection or knowledge of these 'facts', of course, but.... they have evidence and witnesses.... You're likely in strong denial too, that's almost textbook for Walter Mitty types like you in your situation and only serves to confirm both your obvious guilt and your lack of remorse....

I haven't seen it myself, but I gather that the theory has been largely covered on the thread already. (If I'm wrong, could somebody please PM it to me too?!)

I think somebody managed to 'move it' along to the main thread, if that's not a weird way of putting it.

bebeboeuf · 23/05/2019 14:31

@cybercontroller - it’s not , I don’t know why people keep on about it when it was a copy and paste and not my opinion.
I’ve already said I had no intention of spreading things and don’t understand why one person jumping on it means others need to chime in to encourage it.

I don’t care if they were Jewish or not, I just didn’t edit the quote I took from elsewhere as I saw no reason to as in my opinion it wasn’t relevant.
At least that’s where we agree

bebeboeuf · 23/05/2019 14:40

Cyber as I’ve said before I’ve not been on any antisemetic websites and have taken nothing from lipstick alley.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/05/2019 14:43

I'm certain that bebeboeuf didn't mean any offence whatsoever and, having realised how things were interpreted, has acknowledged that no slur was ever intended.

It's important to check your sources, but things get passed (and changed) between different websites so much, it's not always practical to do so. Also, quoting a small part of a website is in no way the same as endorsing it in full or in part - whether the actual content or the author of it.

As we've already established on this thread, the whole world of conspiracies is one massive onion and a single site/thread (or a single person's beliefs/thoughts) can encompass a huge range of content from undisputed fact all the way to the utterly ridiculous/nasty, with a great deal of ground in between.

Can we now just concentrate on what people may or may not have been alleged to DO rather than what they ARE?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/05/2019 15:36

No one needs the PM anymore, it’s on the thread.

Firstimpressionsofearth · 23/05/2019 15:55

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

You could have just said John Peel, those allegations are common knowledge and he's dead.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/05/2019 16:53

Fair enough, Firstimpressionsofearth - just covering my back, maybe I'm paranoid Grin

Firstimpressionsofearth · 23/05/2019 16:59

You'll be fine just make sure you keep your tin foil hat on

I can’t believe such people walk among us. Why keep books?

All Madams keep books to protect themselves and their income. Any whiff of being shut down or criminal proceedings and their book allows then to call in favours from people who really don't want to be exposed. I thought everyone knew this.

I thought it was just the guest house book that people had signed.

It's only now that it's come out what went on at that house that we know anyone that stayed there was likely involved in child abuse.

Options, do people think "nick" was lying or has he just been discredited to hide the truth and put off others coming forward?

Lweji · 23/05/2019 17:29

If indeed it didn't matter if the Krays were jewish or not, why the need to show they were?

dreamyspires · 23/05/2019 17:36

After all, in the Bible, it clearly says "There is no God" if you take it out of context and omit the beginning of the sentence: "The fool hath said in his heart

Yes I understand that point. In the written word it’s easy to take something out of context. But in the case of Buzz I heard him use the words, nothing else would have made sense.

Herland · 23/05/2019 17:39

But I also heard that he punched someone in the face for saying they didn't go to the moon. Or was that Neil Armstrong???

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/05/2019 18:02

Fair enough, dreamyspires - I was just musing, not meaning to suggest that you were mistaken or uncertain. Sorry, badly worded on my part.

MulticolourMophead · 23/05/2019 18:30

dreamyspires Check out the Snopes link posted on this thread. It explains it clearly, and show he didn't mean he never went to the Moon, just that men haven't been back, because he said more than what features in that little snippet of video.

bebeboeuf · 23/05/2019 18:36

You are taking this out of context now.
I was not writing anything myself just quoting.
Please stop

longwayoff · 23/05/2019 18:39

You can whistleblow as much as you like but if the bosses won't process concerns then you're pretty much stuffed. Maybe being able to publicise worries via the internet has improved that and maybe not as the conspiracy mill keeps on churning out part facts.

longwayoff · 23/05/2019 18:47

By the way, all posters, 'Nick' is currently on trial so he cannot be discussed here. The thread will be deleted.

Lweji · 23/05/2019 18:49

I was not writing anything myself just quoting.

Sure... forgive us readers for wondering why.

bebeboeuf · 23/05/2019 18:53

Because of the topic regarding the krays and cliff - and that was a quite prominant quote.
