Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

With Gareth Williams, I thought that the inquest ruled that it was not suicide, and that there was likely criminal involvement ? (Unlike Dr Kelly)

Outofinspiration · 20/05/2019 18:46

The reason that MM threads are deleted on here is because there is zero evidence at all to suggest that her parents were involved in her disappearance (and when you think about what would have actually happened and the circumstances in which they would have had to have happened it seems highly unlikely) and MN think its kind of shitty to speculate in that way about parents who are already in hell and will be for the rest of their lives.

calpoppincalpol · 20/05/2019 18:47

I'm not saying the family is involved, just that an intruder did not take mm.

tentative3 · 20/05/2019 18:48

I think with something like 9/11 it's not that there are two extremes (it happened exactly as we've been told vs it didn't happen/holograms etc) but more likely there are shades of grey. I believe and am appalled that so many people lost their lives. I don't believe we know the full truth about the event though. I don't even know what I doubt, if that makes sense, but I find it perfectly plausible that things were covered up or info not released.

TemporaryPermanent · 20/05/2019 18:49

Me, I believe Dr David Kelly took his own life.

I can't think of a single conspiracy theory I have a moment's time for. I believe in the cock up theory of history.

I also think the moon landings were staged in a hanger at area 51. Theres no way a rocket could pass through the belt of radiation for a start. Its just a total swizz.

Regardless of the differences of the flux levels in the Inner and Outer Van Allen belts, the beta radiation levels would be dangerous to humans if they were exposed for an extended period of time. The Apollo missions minimised hazards for astronauts by sending spacecraft at high speeds through the thinner areas of the upper belts, bypassing inner belts completely

I don't get the 'there is a cure for cancer which is being hidden' theories.

'Cancer' is an umbrella term for loads of different diseases involving mutated cells. There are several different types of breast cancer alone, and even more subtypes within those. It's linked to millions of years of evolution which needs to be unpicked in order to crack, and even within individual humans is different. The idea that there is 'one cure' is ludicrous isn't it?

Plus, added to the fact that due to so many targeted therapies coming into play the survival rates are growing all the time, chemo is already starting to look like it will be redundant within a generation and be replaced with immunotherapy, and whatever comes after that.

Jill Dando was defo a hitman
Not sure that's what you meant to type but at least then there would be a motive! 😊

Absolutepowercorrupts · 20/05/2019 18:53

There was never an outcome to the inquest on the death of Dr Kelly. It remains open. There was the Hutton enquiry and all documents relating to Dr Kelly's death have been classified and can't be read for 70 years.
Imo Dr David Kelly was murdered, I also believe that the U.K. government of that time know that he was murdered.

I don’t know any of the answers, just question when things seem consistently odd. Not that there’s anything that can be done to get closer to the truth. I’m a very sympathetic person & speak to lots of people on a daily basis, am not infallible but do have a feel for wronguns

AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo · 20/05/2019 18:57

Re: Jill Dando... I don’t believe all the conspiracy theories about paedophile or Serbian gangs. Sadly I think it’s very telling that whilst being killed on her own doorstep, it was a actually a pretty rare occurrence for her to be staying at her own home.

EZA15 · 20/05/2019 18:58

@Bishop could you pm me too please

Yb23487643 · 20/05/2019 18:58

& never felt sympathy for that LGs parents

millythepink · 20/05/2019 18:59

@jadot, the cadaver dogs gave a positive recognition for a corpse having been in the boot of the hire car. The parents explained this by saying, as they are doctors, they are around dead bodies a lot. I think that is a tenuous reason.

MissConductUS · 20/05/2019 19:00

I find it difficult to believe that the twin towers would have just collapsed the way they did

This is thoroughly debunked here:

www.popularmechanics.com/military/a6384/debunking-911-myths-world-trade-center/

As someone who actually saw the second plane hit and the towers collapse I'm a bit shocked at the number of 9/11 "truthers" on this thread.

louise5754 · 20/05/2019 19:02

The ones that think they know what they're talking about is so funny.

If you did you wouldn't be mentioning it on a forum on the internet.

VoteJadot · 20/05/2019 19:03

Meh. The dogs were reacting to signals from the handler who saw the missing child posters on the car.

So, where did they hide the body? And why not just say "shit we left the calpol out and she must have got into it"?

Outofinspiration · 20/05/2019 19:04

@jadot, the cadaver dogs gave a positive recognition for a corpse having been in the boot of the hire car. The parents explained this by saying, as they are doctors, they are around dead bodies a lot. I think that is a tenuous reason.

They hired that car 25 days after Madeleine disappeared, so where did they 'hide her corpse' for nearly a month before then disposing of it so well in a foreign unfamiliar country that it would never be found, all whilst the world's media was following them around everywhere?

Justaboy · 20/05/2019 19:06

With reagard to the 9/11 bombings I'll never believe that WTC 7 came down without any assistance it looked exactly like a controlled demolition and so says most everyone who knocks buildings down like that for a living!.

They did go to the moon the russians knew that from the signals they received from there if those signals wern't there they'd have been decrying the Amercians right back then, we also knew what signals were coming from where too.

What they might have done is hushed up on some of the things they may have found there but one day someone else will go there and prove that they did go there it was within their capabilities even back then, it just cost a lot of money and thats the reason they havent been back since enthusiam waned one the Applo missions were over anyway.

Very intresting interview here with Gene Kranz he was the very prominet flamboyant flight director back at the time of the Applo missions espically 11 and 13. Remember all that like it was yesterday still, even if it was 50 years ago now:-)

@LoveLifeBeHappy

I saw a convincing one of it being a massive cock up.

Detail go out on town – seen with shady ladies and very drunk – the driver who’d had to pick up car and who isn’t hung over gets swapped to body guard behind JFK. Apparently, procedure to keep a shot gun under seat – confirmed then denied then very unclear later – agent id shooters location fires back but car which has sped up hits bump he shoots JFK in back of the head by accident. Explains why credible witnesses in car behind smelt smoke. Massive cover up.

My parents just though official version was probably about right then saw program trying to prove that and interviews with Lydon Jonson afterwards they believed he’d called a hit. J E Hoover – was about to be sacked but went to serve 5 more presidents – went to races with boyfriend next day – many think he did it.

I think all that can be said is that people behaved oddly in aftermath– what was driving that is now very unclear.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 20/05/2019 19:08

Jill dando was definitely a hit. Too fast and too clean.

millythepink · 20/05/2019 19:08

@jadot, so are you implying the dog handler was corrupt and deliberately making the dog give a false reaction?

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 20/05/2019 19:08

Jon Benet Ramsey was not an intruder murder.

VoteJadot · 20/05/2019 19:11

No of course not Just that it's not an exact science.

calpoppincalpol · 20/05/2019 19:11

@Tomorrowillbeachicken no it was not. I do not believe John Ramsey killed JonBenét. Not sure about Patsy.
