Wow that's a different name for a Royal

OP posts:
hullaballoonie · 08/05/2019 17:09

I'm Archie the inventor
I know how things are done
I can make absolutely anything
Inventing things is fun.

Sorry just having a Balamory flashback. As you were.

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 08/05/2019 17:10

It’s very 2019.

Congratulations to them..

RedForShort · 08/05/2019 17:10

Baby Sussex due to the parents titles isn't it. As with Cambridge for the brother.

I figured there would be an acceptable in American name (that would cause horror throughout the land). Only suprised is it wasn't the first name and there appears to be only two!!

FiremanKing · 08/05/2019 17:10

Archie. Not keen. Sounds like my father when he sneezes!

zen1 · 08/05/2019 17:10

Refreshing that they’ve not picked from the usual list. I quite like Archie.

Bluestitch · 08/05/2019 17:11

Makes me think of Archie comics/ Riverdale especially if he's a redhead too.

Afrikan · 08/05/2019 17:11

Good think only his parents need to like the name. Jeez you lot are miserable

ILoveMaxiBondi · 08/05/2019 17:11

Harrison reminds me of how Sam from Emmerdale called his son Samson.

Yes! Me too.

Archie= “I’m Archie, the inventor” Grin

Also Archie from emmerdale.

EdithWeston · 08/05/2019 17:11

I think they'd changed the Act, so the monarch has a say about the marriages and names if the first 6 in the line of succession (used to be more)

(At least I think it's 6)

ILoveMaxiBondi · 08/05/2019 17:12

Xpost hullaballoonie

hullaballoonie · 08/05/2019 17:12

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 08/05/2019 17:13

"having a Balamory flashback"

So was I - the pink house

Though perhaps I should have typed castle in that post??

fecketyfeck21 · 08/05/2019 17:13

ffs, archie, is it april 1st already ??

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 17:13

So basically, if you've a title, as in a HRH, you've no surname. But since Archie isn't a HRH, he'll be Mountbatten Windsor.

Ok got my head around it now!

Dumdedumdedum · 08/05/2019 17:15

Gorgeous photo from the Sussex Royals on Instagram of the 4 generations with the new member of the family. I wonder if it was deliberately black and white, given some people's unnecessary preoccupation with the colour of the baby's skin?

RustyBear · 08/05/2019 17:15

It was decided in 1960 by the Queen & the Privy Council, that male-line descendants of the Queen who don't have royal styles and titles would use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie is a male-line descendant of the Queen, but he doesn't have a royal style & title yet & may never have, so he's Mountbatten-Windsor.

Quartz2208 · 08/05/2019 17:16

Its no less royal than Savannah Isla Mia or Lena

They like the name

Ex28 · 08/05/2019 17:16

And will he live in a pink house?

This reference popped into my head straight away Grin

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 08/05/2019 17:17

Great name!!! Love it

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 17:17

Well when you're a member of the royal family, you really don't have to worry about class do you?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/05/2019 17:17

I agree that those are also not great names but at least they are not nicknames.

Hippopotas · 08/05/2019 17:18

I hate it

EdithWeston · 08/05/2019 17:18

HRH is a style, not a title.

Prince Harry only got a title - his Dukedom - when he married. The eldest sons of Dukes often use their father's minor titles, so he couid be Earl of Dumbarton (aka Lord Archie), because the title is already there. His hypothetical younger sisters and brothers could also have the normal courtesy styles of the offspring of Dukes, eg Lady Penelope and Lord Parker.

Or they could decide not to use one at all.

n0ne · 08/05/2019 17:19

Yeah, no. If Archie's short for Archibald that's slightly better, but I don't like it, or Harrison. But it's not my baby, so.
