Wow that's a different name for a Royal

It's lovely and the baby looks adorable. I'm of the school of thought that you only comment positively on baby names unless they have named their baby after a serial killer or porn star.

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 17:01

I'm nearly sure on George's first day of school that Kay Burley was saying that his surname at school was going to be Cambridge.

Hazlenutpie · 08/05/2019 17:02

They’ve named him after our friend’s dog. 😂

Branleuse · 08/05/2019 17:02

Maybe Americans arent as immediately conscious of social class markers?

Callmejudith · 08/05/2019 17:03

It's awful!

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 17:03

Archie is probably quite unusual in America in fairness to Meghan.
I'd associate it with old men.

Ohgodwhyme · 08/05/2019 17:04

Archie Harrison? Rubbish

booksandcaffeine · 08/05/2019 17:05

I love it that they've not gone for a traditional royal name.

Motheroffeminists · 08/05/2019 17:05

My mum asked if I was joking when I told her so I had to send her the bbc link.

MillicentMartha · 08/05/2019 17:05

There are lots of young Archies around. Not an old man’s name any more.

INeedAFlerken · 08/05/2019 17:05

Ugh. Awful names.

Most of the little Archies and Harrisons I know are quite irritating. And there are many. Perhaps this has put me off the names as well.

Catchingbentcoppers · 08/05/2019 17:05

I think it's fine. Archie is a very normal name and Harrison is a surname to me. In my family all middle names are surnames.

YoThePussy · 08/05/2019 17:05

Archie is a pet’s name as others have said but rather sweet.

Harrison, H from Line of Duty!.

I was hoping for Gaylord Ravenal from Showboat.

howwudufeel · 08/05/2019 17:06

Harrison reminds me of how Sam from Emmerdale called his son Samson.

Zofloramummy · 08/05/2019 17:06

I don’t mind it but I would have preferred a full name that could be shortened rather than a cutsie name. But it’s sweet, they look happy. At least it isn’t Apple, Leaf or Balthazar!

stucknoue · 08/05/2019 17:07

To clarify, as the children heir to the throne, William and Harry don't really have a surname like you or I, but their house is Windsor (Queen) or Mountbatten-Windsor (Prince Charles) so whilst William's children also don't have surnames, Harry's as not being direct heirs can choose to have a normal one (allbeit rather prestigious). Sussex (and Cambridge) are titles not surnames, I read in the military Harry used Windsor.

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 17:07

I was right - George doesn't use his title at school - instead he is George Cambridge

PattyCow · 08/05/2019 17:07

Archie is adorable. He's not a prince so it matters not one jot. We aren't going to have a King Archie - fear not.

Mssngvwls · 08/05/2019 17:08

It's nice. Completely inoffensive and popular names. No more out-there than Zara, Mia, Savannah, Lena and Isla.

EdWinchester · 08/05/2019 17:08

Sweet but not exactly regal. Good for them.

They’re doing things their own way for sure. I’m liking them more and more.

MillicentMartha · 08/05/2019 17:09

Archie was 18th most popular name in 2017.

ItsAllGone19 · 08/05/2019 17:09

*I'm confused. What's Harry's surname? Windsor?

Where does Mountbatten come from?*

Harry's surname was commonly referred to as 'Wales'. I'm not clear if that was official.

Windsor is the Queen's family name. Mountbatten is Prince Phillip's family name and the Germanic link for the royal family

The Sussex's probably had permission from the Queen to use both as surname for Archie.

Tentomidnight · 08/05/2019 17:09

I wonder if anyone bet on Archie? If so, they’ll be rich now, nobody else saw that coming, did they Grin

mpsw · 08/05/2019 17:09

Both Prince William and Prince Harry were Wales in the Army (you can see the patch with their name in documentaries)

MillicentMartha · 08/05/2019 17:09

Harrison 34th most popular.
