Wow that's a different name for a Royal

OP posts:
cptartapp · 08/05/2019 16:56

I told DS this morning it would be Archie, as a joke!
Blooming awful if that's true. So many negative connotations for both names.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/05/2019 16:56

It's dreadful. No redeeming features. A nickname and a surname.

FurryDogMother · 08/05/2019 16:56

I think it's great :D

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 16:57

Well Kay Burley is always on about the Cambridges.

I'm confused. What's Harry's surname? Windsor?

Where does Mountbatten come from?

sunshinefinally · 08/05/2019 16:57

I actually didn't think of Harrison as Harry's son 😂 that really made me laugh.... Archie take it or leave it ... I was really hoping for spencer... after Diana
But it's their baby and all the best to them!

happyhillock · 08/05/2019 16:57

Archie - how awfulConfused

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/05/2019 16:57

Well, it's better than DD's guess which was Catkins. Grin

I like it, in as much as I don't hate it and I never really care what other people name their children. Maybe they have chosen not to ask for a title for him, like Princess Anne did with her children.

notangelinajolie · 08/05/2019 16:58

I don't like it.

ChicCroissant · 08/05/2019 16:58

Archie like Monarch of the Glen (v old TV series about a Laird)? Harrison?

Very different names than the usual Royal choices, I'm not a fan of it either but I doubt they'll lose sleep over my opinion Grin

notatwork · 08/05/2019 16:59

Archie is fashionable and nice enough.
Not keen on Harrison tbf, but it's not my baby so good luck to them. They look very happy.

Springwalk · 08/05/2019 16:59

Archie Harrison? Really?

JeanieJardine55 · 08/05/2019 16:59

I think it’s great. Archie’s a fine Scottish name.

DieselSucker · 08/05/2019 16:59

Not keen, but hey... Hmm

Grasspigeons · 08/05/2019 16:59

Its fine. Id have liked a spencer in there too.

happyhillock · 08/05/2019 16:59

Mountbatten is Prince Philip's surname

sam221 · 08/05/2019 16:59

Well it's different and cute

Bunnybigears · 08/05/2019 16:59

Archie is a bit meh, I think if they were going to go for a non traditional name they could have gone for something a bit stronger. I dont mind sure Ames as first names but dont like them as middle names because then it sounds like it's just another surname so Harrison-Mountbatten-Windsor.

CloudRusting · 08/05/2019 16:59

Not a fan of the name at all and had to double check it wasn’t a spoof when I saw it reported. Oh well we will get used to it I suppose.

englishdictionary · 08/05/2019 16:59

Well Kay Burley is always on about the Cambridges.

As in the Duke and Duchess of, not Mr & Mrs.

I'm confused. What's Harry's surname? Windsor?

Where does Mountbatten come from?

Mountbatten-Windsor has been on the go for over 60 years. Nothing new.

Petalflowers · 08/05/2019 17:00

I expected Spencer to be in the mix also.

Archie is okay, and completely unexpected.

Whatever name they chose, some will love it and some will hate it. As often said on the Baby Name board, it’s their baby and if they love it, then use it. Doesn’t matter what others think.

Agednotwine · 08/05/2019 17:00

There doesn't seem to be any consistency in where the surnames come from. It's like they pick a surname or something.

KnifeAngel · 08/05/2019 17:00

I don't like either of the names. I thought they would go with a classic like Charles or Edward.

MillicentMartha · 08/05/2019 17:01

I quite like Archie. Not so keen on Harrison, though. Dislike surnames as first names.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 08/05/2019 17:01

I've just googling for birth certificates and none of then has a surname.

I think HMQ's offspring were Mountbatten-Windsors (as Prince Phillip didn't want his name expunged completely) so there is some sense in going back to it.

Now, is he Earl of Dumbarton (a subsidiary title of the Duke of Sussex) or no title at all?

And will he live in a pink house?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 08/05/2019 17:01

the Like Zara was in its day
Its not really "left field" its not River Ryder or Balonz (although Catherine might have suggested that, she is a MNetter after all)
About the same postion in the line as Zara when she was born too. Lower royals often have more 'common' Zara, Mia, Lena, Savannah, Isla to name a few.

Also no title, like the philips kids weren't.

People are just over the top about Harry because he's one of "the boys" but hes actally a fairly minor royal now.

And i actually have a feeling he quite likes it that way.
