We, my bestie and I found a secret room in her parents' house, whne we were at primary, 40 years ago- in a ramshackle old converted manor-house stable block with live-in accommodation (and humongous attic!).

We were counting external windows and internal rooms. The 'discrepancy' came off the 'turn' on the stairwell and was completely walled off.

Her dad got a ladder and peered in. It really was quite small, 'nursery' size, tho no evidence it had been a nursery, as all it contained was an old rocking chair and a wooden leg!!

... I bet if you listen carefully in the dead of night you can hear thuds if the wooden leg as if 'walking' across the creaky floorboards and the rhythmic sound of rocking chair swaying...
