Went to see this last night and just wow. Don't think I've ever say through a movie that gave me chills quite like that did.
Would love to know how they time travelled Brian May and John Deacon for this because they were outstandingly good.

Anyone else seen it and loved it?

i'm seeing it at cineworld on my unlimited card....so will go again with older ds at the weekend

QuestionTime2018 · 25/10/2018 18:57

Loved it - going again this weekend.

FredMerc · 25/10/2018 19:00

First date night in 2 years planned with DH on Saturday. Dinner, then ViP seats already booked. Can't wait.

Cat and username both after the legend that is Mr Mercury.

I'm old enough to have seen Live Aid live on TV aged 13 but didn't appreciate what I witnessed until years later, so I can't wait to see those scenes Smile

SistersOfHearsey · 25/10/2018 19:13

Yes the timeline is altered but I understand why. Live aid was the culmination of their career and the right moment to end the movie on, following the timeline wouldn't have fit as well I don't think.

Ending a year later at knebworth would have been truer, as that was the real last concert where Freddie knew it was the last.

prettyisoverrated · 25/10/2018 19:22

@Dumbledoresgirl if you get the Vue app then you can get a code to use on Monday’s and I think the tickets are then about £4

I really want to see this, DH is normally a massive Queen fan but doesn’t seem that interested as “he knows the end” Hmm so I think it’s going to be a trip with friends instead when we can sort it

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 25/10/2018 19:24

My mum has just messaged me from Portugal saying we have to watch it when she returns next week. So excited now.

SistersOfHearsey · 25/10/2018 19:48

But Knebworth didn't go out to billions and become the most iconic concert in history.

I've been a queen fan since I was about 10. I was devastated when he died. I still remember that. One of the greatest bands of all time IMO. I remember saving up to buy the greatest hits on DVD from an esso garage...and the calendar. As well as the stuff Freddie did with queen I loved Barcelona too, the duet he did. What a guy he was ❤️

BBTHREE76 · 25/10/2018 23:18

I went last night and loved it. I cried and cried as I came out of the cinema and I was really moved. It was definitely a “wow” film and the first film I have been to when the audience all stayed to the end of the credits and the burst into applause. I am definskry going to see it again, to see if I can remain more composed.

AnonaMouse1 · 25/10/2018 23:20

I'm back from watching it, just wanted to come on here again to reiterate what op said... it's fab!! Ds loved it even though he didn't quite understand some of it

Cinema was packed (for once) and everyone was enthralled ... no rustling of sweet wrappers even

I was 18 when live aid went out.... at work that day at the local 'little chef'. Every time one of us had a break they went and sat in our supervisors car to listen to the radio and then come in and tell us what Bowie/Phil/Jagger was singing

Happy days!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2018 23:27

Going on Saturday , DH isn't a fan (and to think I married him knowing this fact Blush ) but he suggested that we go.

Tissues at the ready.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2018 23:36

Is this a good place to share my creepy woo Queen related incident ?

If not , I'm not listening......

On the day that would've been Freddies 60th Birthday , I was driving home. I went to change my radio station and put the CD player on, there was a home burned CD in, random songs.
It played IWTBF

There is a faffy little double roundabout where the bus does a right turn , so as I stopped , I noticed there was a sign on the side for We Will Rock You the musical
The driver (knowing that 99% of drivers cut up the buses) turned at looked right at me .....and he had a full on Freddie 'tasche.

It was a precision based collision of the planets (or something)

AnonaMouse1 · 26/10/2018 00:07

Haha!!! You must be a true queen fan then!!

The night before he died my flat mate and I were chatting and mentioned we hadn't heard of him for a while. Next morning she popped her head round my door and simply said 'he's died'. And I didn't need to ask who. I just knew who she meant

xsquared · 26/10/2018 01:03

Just been to see it a few hours ago. It was brilliant. Definitely bring tissues as you might need them.

Dychmygol · 26/10/2018 16:10

Thank you @SistersOfHearsey we'll go on the weekend

SistersOfHearsey · 26/10/2018 16:40

Enjoy @Dychmygol

It's great that people are posting positive reviews after the bad ones I have seen in the papers. Seeing it tomorrow and looking forward to the film now!

Justanotheruser01 · 26/10/2018 16:50

I didn't actually enjoy it at all, not too sure why just didn't click for me

BalloonSlayer · 26/10/2018 17:52

Queen at Live Aid is on YouTube by the way.

I remember Live Aid so well. Boiling hot day, alternately sunbathing with the rafio on and watching it on telly.

By the end of the afternoon it was getting a bit boring. Then Queen came on about 6pm and were completely fantastic, a hundred times better than anyone else. Gave the whole thing an injection of energy.

Went out to the pub that evening and of course everyone was talking about Live Aid and everyone said "Did you see Queen??!!"

QOD · 26/10/2018 18:00

Watched it last night. OUTSTANDING

Think I even preferred it t mamma Mia here we go again

Fan tab u lous

Blackberry10 · 26/10/2018 18:15

Apparently the critics hate it so on that basis it will be ace and I can’t wait to see it

sparklyDMs · 26/10/2018 18:24

I also went last night - absolutely loved it..I'd go again

ashtrayheart · 26/10/2018 18:35

I went to see it with my Dad last night (as it's thanks to him I know all the songs from growing up). We loved it!

LikeaMeteorite · 26/10/2018 18:40

I thought the performance as Freddie was fantastic, but I wasn't impressed with the moralising tone about his sex life. His long term partner was shown as a total villain who forced him into what was depicted as a damaging promiscuous lifestyle. The implication was that he'd have been fine if he'd just stayed in the closet with his wife.
