I saw it last night. I had heard a couple of reviews where it had talked about how there's a limit to how much material you can fit in to 2 hours, so they had to leave some things out, and I was also aware the timeline was "adjusted" in places, and it's not a documentary. I am glad I knew that in advance, because there were still one or two bits which grated, but I can accept artistic licence.
I really liked how they started with Smile and meeting Mary and so on. And I was initially surprised at the point they ended it, but it did work well.
I thought Brian was absolutely spot on, and John. Not quite sure they got Roger, but close enough, I suppose. Rami Malek did a really good job - that was always going to be a difficult role, whoever did it. I'm glad it wasn't Sacha Baron-Cohen, because I find him really annoying, and even if he had done it well, I would have still known it was him.
I chatted to an old friend who'd also been to see it where he lives - we both admitted we cried all the way through Live Aid (which originally when I was 13, was before we had a TV, and I only saw highlights at a friend's house.)
I had been in two minds before going, but I knew I had to know for myself. I think they did a good job.
