Went to see this last night and just wow. Don't think I've ever say through a movie that gave me chills quite like that did.
Would love to know how they time travelled Brian May and John Deacon for this because they were outstandingly good.

Anyone else seen it and loved it?

Ahh interesting cheddar I've not seen the review but I felt that warts and all would have taken away from the story really. There was no need for it in the movie and it would have ruined the flow of it I felt.

It was sad, funny, touching and most of all a fitting tribute to a man who died far too young.

I saw a trailer for this at the cinema yesterday, and I think it looks brilliant, even though I'm not a massive Queen fan. I do like a lot of their music though and I think that Freddie seemed like a lovely person.
SistersOfHearsay You answered my question! I wondered whether Kenny Everett would be featured in it as I'd heard that he was a close friend of Freddie's.

Liz38 · 25/10/2018 17:03

I saw it last night and loved it. Well worth spending an evening out on!

Runnynosehunny · 25/10/2018 17:08

The reviews have not been that good but I have just got a feeling this is going to be a massive hit.

One of my favourite childhood memories is sitting on my uncle's shoulders at a Queen concert. I was only 5 and the crowd went on forever. It was at Maine road and in the open air. The drums started up for We Will Rock You. I was doing the actions and saw myself on the big screen. My look of bewilderment and awe made the crowd go wild and want to touch my hands. We were on the pitch but far from the stage so was a fluke but a magic one. My uncle died a few years ago and when the priest read the eulogy my uncle had mentioned it during his visits as his most cherished memory of me. I have loved Queen and Freddie ever since and now my kids do.

SistersOfHearsey · 25/10/2018 17:23

Oh how wonderful Cheddar so jealous!

My first memories come from a late aunt who used to play Another One Bites The Dust on a very expensive sound system she had. The beat thumped through her house and I loved it. I remember sitting watching Live Aid, it was like we knew this was something amazing and every second needed to be taken in completely.

I was very fortunate to meet Brian May a few years ago at a Darkness gig. I got a thumbs up and everything. Life never got better than that moment!

Cheddar I was at that concert too. I was 16. I'll never forget it and I can't wait to see the film.

OhFlipMama · 25/10/2018 17:31

@CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese That's magical.

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 25/10/2018 17:32

I kind of like it that that moment happened and just for me and him. I get on with his wife but she wouldn't let Who Wants to Live Forever be played at his cremation like he asked. Anytime I play Queens greatest hits I'm immediately transported back to that moment. Everything seemed purple until they brought the lights up for WWRY. I took dd to see Take That and she was intensely bored and couldnt get into it even though I play their songs regularly.🤣

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 25/10/2018 17:41

Effendi did you recall seeing me on the screen???!!!! Like I said I was very young but the whole concert was just astounding. We had a pub a few streets from the stadium plus I went to the school that was pretty much in Maine rds car park. We would get free tickets for all the concerts to make up for all the disruption. I saw Guns n roses, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Chris Rea, Rolling stones not to mention Jean Michel Jarre (dunno about spelling) over the years. I was gutted when Maine Rd was knocked down.

Owlish · 25/10/2018 17:47

We went to see it last night too. Loved every moment, despite some factual/timeline errors. Gwilym Lee was Brian May's double, it was uncanny, even the voice was spot on. I'd urge any Queen fan to go and see it.

BikeRunSki · 25/10/2018 17:48

Excellent! DS is 10 and is the worlds buggest Quran fan. Will take him at half term. He is very tall, will pass for 12 easily.

BikeRunSki · 25/10/2018 17:49

Lol!! Quran = Queen

Effendi · 25/10/2018 17:51

Ha Cheddar no I don't remember seeing you but it was a long time ago now!

ZombiePrincessIsADeadUnicorn · 25/10/2018 18:25

Thank you @SistersOfHearsey I am now going to see it with my DH tomorrow night Smile

Villanelle123 · 25/10/2018 18:27

@Dumbledoresgirl if you can wait until next week I’d love to give you my Meerkat code for BOGOF.

Horsemad · 25/10/2018 18:29

Going tomorrow, can't wait. 😀

Bohemond · 25/10/2018 18:30

I’m taking my mum (75) on Monday. She introduced me to Queen. She now wears comfortable shoes and beige clothes but I know there is still a bit of heavy rock in her.

Meet0nTheIedge · 25/10/2018 18:35

I so want to see this. I saw Queen at Wembley in 1986, one of the most memorable days of my life.

Dumbledoresgirl · 25/10/2018 18:37

@SistersofHearsey thank you.

@Villanelle123 I don't know what that is, but thank you too.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 25/10/2018 18:38

They fucked up the timeline didn't they, to get everything in Pre live aid when the aids diagnoses was a year later in real life?

Dumbledoresgirl · 25/10/2018 18:43

I am so envious of anyone who saw Queen live. I remember a friend of mine, who had been to Live Aid, and myself, watching a recording of Queen at Wembley in 1986, and agreeing that the next time they toured we would get tickets to see them. They never toured again.

My only Queen claim to fame is that I lived with a nurse who worked at the hospital Freddie attended in his final days. She knew about his Aids and told me how ill he was a few weeks before it was announced publucally and he died. I remember slowly coming to the realisation that meant he was going to die and just couldn't take in what felt like the enormity of it.

Villanelle123 · 25/10/2018 18:45

@Dumbledoresgirl it’s just a code to get two tickets for the price of one on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so PM me if it would be of any use.

Dumbledoresgirl · 25/10/2018 18:51

Thank you. Does it cover Vue Cinemas as that is the only one we have near us. I have just had another thought that I have Tesco Clubcard vouchers but I can't see that that applies to Vue.

Villanelle123 · 25/10/2018 18:53

Yes I think so :)
