I missed the grim/tacky reference. Or are you being oblique Torn? Although I find BluTak more tacky and Gaffa tape more 'I'll stick here but I'm not bloody sticking to that' than tacky. Gaffa tape wouldn't stick to an inflatable chair!! Why??

Well, if it helps, DH kept it on for an embarrassingly long while. My hints about doing the washing were going no where.

Then DD (16) walked in.

Now, my DH (bless him!) quite often misses the subtle hints. All the "No, I'm actually having a horrible time, can we leave now, please" and "that bitch is flirting with you, I'm going to strangle her" and - more frequently - "Your dancing is less cool than you think it is, please stop" pointed stares/raised eyebrows don't seem to get through.
But there was NO disguising DD's facial horror at seeing her dad in a mankini. He whipped upstairs to change. I've since found it in the bathroom bin, cut up into several VERT TINY pieces!

I'm attending your party in a straight jacket. If I didn't need one going in, I'll need one by the time I come out.
