Girls were finally allowed to wear grey cords at my school in winter when I was 15. I have never worn a skirt in winter since.

Swapshop. Good clean living.
Tiswas was for reprobates

TheTartanTerror · 26/08/2018 14:00

Goodness Claw, I hope the police were gentle with you - does this mean you were only wearing the cape?

I have vague memories of swapshop and I was only really allowed to watch BBC as ITV was for delinquents apparently (accord to my esteemed parents)

KeepServingTheDrinks · 26/08/2018 16:09

I'm just worried about where they grabbed you, Claw

I loved Swapshop, until Tiswas started. Then there was no comparison. My DSis and I used to do the Dying Fly.

And after we read Watership Down to DD, I found that little boy singing Bright Eyes on Youtube and showed it to her. His name might have been Matthew. But I think you lot were too high brow to know what I'm talking about.

TornFromTheInside · 26/08/2018 16:51

Poppycock! it is not highbrow to have avoided the hoi polloi and kerfuffle of those television monstrosities. I happened to enjoy my Saturday mornings clay pigeon shooting on the estate with my father's gamekeeper.
HIghbrow indeed!!

+guffaws+

Did you own a television Torn?

TornFromTheInside · 26/08/2018 18:38

Heaven's above - a television? I do believe such a thing existed for the servants, yes. I could never fathom their interest in such things.

PhilomenaButterfly · 26/08/2018 18:43

Actually Torn, you might be my dad.

TattyFrench · 26/08/2018 18:56

I'm on a train! A real one from the big London! - sorry being stupid, grew up here but moved away with DC 5 years ago - today was a bit of a 'day out'.
Swap Shop - no Tiswas, it was on the 'low channel'. Same with Blue Peter over Magpie. I don't watch tv anymore though.

TornFromTheInside · 26/08/2018 18:58

Philomena, don't forget to pronounce your consonants dear!

PhilomenaButterfly · 26/08/2018 19:34

No, dad. Hmm

TornFromTheInside · 26/08/2018 19:56

+mutters under his breath about how he should have been there more often for Philomena the troubled daughter!+

KeepServingTheDrinks · 27/08/2018 00:30

Tatty I grew up in Big London too!

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 00:36

Tatty - been waiting for you!

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 00:37

oops she's not here!

TattyFrench · 27/08/2018 08:22

That was a long train journey! South or North Torn? It's changed so much in a few years, so many new buildings. People everywhere, I'd forgotten about the volume of people, I'm more used to sheep and cows now.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 27/08/2018 08:43

Did you have a nice day out Tatty?

Quite wet, wasn't it?

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 14:30

I'm North - but worked in London. I have a love/hate relationship with it!

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 18:01

Grim

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 18:01

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 18:02

Grrr pictures not working

TattyFrench · 27/08/2018 19:16

Yes thanks Keep, I took DC to the feartre. Kids go free in August, it was rainy and busy but they enjoyed it.
Torn I'm South and worked in London - I too have a love/hate relationship with it. My friends who bought young are sorted for life, live in areas that are now very desirable (they weren't then), I didn't go gradually moved/prices out further and further.
