Morning. Cheating a little here as this was yesterday's post but I am having a day off blogging today.

a comfort food blog hop

Wow MmeG that's impressive that you make them yourself.

OK I have had trhee more calls today from people wondering if I am open this evening. To make my comments above clearer I got a new phone at the weekend and it turns out the number used to belong to a swingers club.

I'm torn between annoyance and amusement.

MmeGuillotine · 23/11/2011 13:02

I was raised by a professional cook (my grandmother) so am not bad in the kitchen. ;)

ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 13:37

ahahaha! Oh my GOD PR.

Are you open this evening though?

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 13:55

No I thought I'd have a night off tonight :)

wahhahahaha PR. Just WAIT for the moment when a friend or neighbour phones and gets confused.

I like the Bûche de Noel (think I have messed up the accents on that, but cannot be bothered to check) but normally buy it. They are everywhere.

More than that, I adore Gallette de Roi. Om nom fucking nom.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 14:30

Ooh I don't like the Galette - every time I eat one I'm worried I'll get the thing inside and won't know what to do (humiliating experience my first year in France)

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 14:58

I have re-blogged a non identifying versionabout being mistaken for a swingers bar...

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 15:13

What are you supposed to do with the thing inside then?

ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 15:17

And what is the traditional christmas pudding in Germany please Mme?

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 15:18

Whoever gets it is the King, or Queen, and has to pick their Queen, or King, and give them the gold crown.

When it happened to me I had no idea and everyone just stared at m. And then someone told me to pick a king. I didn't know who to pick or what the etiquette was? Should I pick the oldest man in the room, or a child to keep them happy? Shoudl I pick my boyfriend who I'd only just started seeing, was a twat and always going on about women just wanting to get married and have kids Hmm

And no-one helped me. They just all stared at me and didn't giev me any advice. I said, I don't know what I am supposed to do, and they all laughed.

It was horrible. The next time I got the thing inside I swallowed it so I didn't have to go through it again Blush and still, twelve years on, I don't know what the etiquette is (unless you're two couple you pick your own OH).

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 15:23

That would be the Stollen, I would think.

But if you don't like Christmas pudding, then you won't like Stollen.

We will be baking Plätzchen soon. There are hundreds of different recipes

I do the Kokosmakaronen Spitzbuben and Zimtsterne

We should do a Xmas Bake-Off Blog Hop.

Who is up for that? We bake in the next week, and post recipes next Wednesday?

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 15:24

hahahaha

You nut. You swallowed it?

I would go for the youngest person, or the one with the nearest birthday or something.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 15:30

Yeah - I didn't want to be embarassed again. Unfortunately I go red really easily and when the ex MIL was going on about complaining to the bakery I was doing my best to look innocent. Back then I wasn't very good at uncomfortable social situations.

Am happy to find a recipe for a bûche and post it but won't be making one. I'll join in with banana bread though if you like Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 15:31

I wasn't good at comfortable social situations either... I have a lot of embarassing stories stored up for my blog

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 15:32

Mme - I make a fucking mean stollen (with massive chunks of marzipan in it)

I am going to check out those links - But I like your christmas blog hop idea too!

I'm not sure how much of a chance I'm going to get to bake this weekend though - it's the meet up Saturday and I'm expecting hangoveration on Sunday! Wink

Tee2072 · 23/11/2011 15:40

Well, hello all!

Sorry not been around. Things have been manic and haven't really had time to blog, never mind talk about blogging!

I may be making cookies next week with my son and if we do get around to it, I'll join the blog hop!

MmeL how's your blog now?

shirley I'm right with you about Christmas cake.

I'm sure the rest of you have written excellent blog posts and I'm sure I've read them...sorry, head really fuzzy!

::Tee Must.Try.harder. Again.::

ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 15:51

Ah, you're alright Tee - you've been busy!

FlamingoBingo · 23/11/2011 16:08

Tee, you don't need to apologise for not being around MN bloggers! No one does! Nice to see you around here, though :)

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 16:23

Hello Tee. Thanks for your help yesterday. New host says it should be absolutely no problem. Old host was useless.

overmydeadbody · 23/11/2011 16:29

Mme I like the idea of Flattr, I wouldn't be put off if someone had this on their blog as presumalby in order to take part and recieve Flattrs you have to also subscribe and give Flattrs? So it's not greedy is it, it's just a nice fiscal way of spreading the love.
will be interesting to see if it takes off.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 16:53

Have worked out why I have been sent to various spam folders in the last week - I reset all my cookies before my break and when I came back I mis-typed my site address in comment forms so it wasn't a real site and looked like spam.

Am very seriously thick this last week.

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 16:59

Yes, good point, OMDB.

And particularly for craft bloggers who often offer a free template or pattern, it is a good way of saying thanks.

FB
I don't think the flattr I sent to you went through. It is not showing up on my dashboard.

Tee2072 · 23/11/2011 17:16

Re Flattr: No, I wouldn't and won't do it. Just doesn't interest me and feels a bit like begging, I guess is the word.

I blog because I enjoy it. Doesn't matter to me if anyone like what I write!

My graphics on the other hand.... (Wink FB)

FlamingoBingo · 23/11/2011 17:49

MmeLindor - I'm not sure if you can tell where they came from? I'll go and look at my dashboard.

Tee - while waiting for different shape banner, check out new-look blog! Very chuffed with it!
