I have just written a blog post about my DS and his first real fall on the Sunday just gone. There was blood and everything :(

QueenMaeve · 22/11/2011 21:11

oh poor you cinnamon. its scary when they fall isn't it. I still freak out and you'd think I'd be used to it by now.
my post christmas countdown activity ideas for your wee ones.

droitwichmummy · 22/11/2011 21:16

I had a better day today so, having not posted for a week I have now done 2 in 2 days.
I've also realised that December starts next week - yikes!

ShirleyKnot · 22/11/2011 21:20

Hello all.

I've had insomnia plus a horrible phone call at work which almost made me blub (think the tiredness was key in that one) which makes Stir Up Sunday seem like weeks ago rather than just days.

I think reading the blogs in bed on my i-pad is contributing to my stupid insomnia so I'm laying off that for a few days Grin

Will try and catch up tommorrow at work

PetiteRaleuse · 22/11/2011 21:42

Shirley hope it's not our bunfight discussion from last week that's contributing to your insomnia :)

Get some sleep lovely.

Am thanking the heavens that they don't do Christmas Pud in France. That and sprouts are my worst memories of Xmas from childhood :)

RhinestoneCowgirl · 22/11/2011 21:58

I've been writing about General Winter Grumpiness and how I intend to tackle it...

ShirleyKnot · 22/11/2011 22:00

Of course not PR - it was a difference of opinions, nothing else! I'm hoping that blogging plus a glass of wine will send me off to sleep without too much rocking tonight.

I really hate all the Christmas stuff flavour-wise, which is such a shame because I bloody love everything else about it. Confused (Although I ADORE Brussel Sprouts)

What's the traditional pudding in France?

SophRunning · 22/11/2011 22:07

Hello all. I have missed you all and have got some reading and catching up to do. This week I ran away and so have written about Escape

notatschool · 22/11/2011 22:13

Aww thanks miloandameliasmummy (lovely names btw!)

QueenM great ideas!

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 05:39

Gah. Blog still down so I have resorted to my old blog where I posted about The Military Choir.

If you haven't seen The Choir, get yourself over to bbc iplayer. It is fab.

Take tissues.

Off to make tea and catch up on the blogs.

TheLastChocolate · 23/11/2011 08:20

Have put up another Women's Aid post. Well, this one is more about domestic violence and stats. Will be doing a post every day (or every other day) this week, if I can.

Vegetarian Children and Fussy Eaters

What do you do when your kids refuse to eat?

ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 09:25

WTF going on with your blog MMe?

What a pain in the harris!

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 10:00

A pain in the harris. Love that.

I have changed from the truly awful webhostinghub to a small company in Ireland for the blog hosting.

Over the past few months the blog has been temporarily suspended as I have been taking up too much "bandwidth" apparently. Not sure why, they said it could be due to the RSS feed and told me to install caching plug in, which I did.

I only have 6000 page views a month - so not as if I am getting loads of hits. And I rarely have massive surges of hits.

Everytime they suspend the account, I have to do something to the blog then it is fine for a while then they suspend with no warning again.

They have sent me this email, when I asked about exactly how much bandwidth I am using:

Here is your monthly bandwidth usage over the past few months:

Aug 2011 - 1.10 GB
Sep 2011 - 2.04 GB
Oct 2011 - 8.01 GB
Nov 2011 - 1.92 GB

Total 13.06 GB

We don't have a historical view of your disk-space usage. However your current disk-usage is (607MB) which is under (1GB).

No idea if that is normal, will ask new provider if he can assist. They have been great, so far, btw. these guys in Ireland - very helpful. Recommended by a blogger who uses them.

Anyhow, the domain has been transferred to Blacknight, but it can take up to 5 days and during that time I cannot access saltandcaramel.com at all.

Webhostinghub refuse to unsuspend the account.

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 11:01

Anyone heard of Flattr?

Would you do this?

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 11:19

Shirley the traditional pudding is a "bûche de noel" - google it tis yummy. The last few years we haven't done Christmas and this year we're driving 1,000 km to see the in lws on the other side of the country. I have mixed feelings about it.

SweetestThing · 23/11/2011 11:24

Celebrate or commiserate? - today's blog recognises the six month anniversary of my surgery and waking up with a new face.

ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 11:31

I read all that MMe and I do not understand ANY of it.

At least you've got someone sorting you out now.

The flattr thing - hmm. I'm not sure about it TBH. I don't think I'd bother!

PR - So that's like a yule log swiss rolly kind of thing. (I quite fancy trying that out)

PetiteRaleuse · 23/11/2011 11:36

I don't know anyone who has ever made one - but they are yum. Over heer everyone goes to the patisserie and orders one in plenty of time for the big day (and the big meal is done on Christmas Eve in most families over here)

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 11:48

I quite like the idea of having the big meal on Christmas eve, because then you can have the BEST leftover dinner on Christmas day!

ATOmum · 23/11/2011 11:59

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie and have finally got around to posting on here!
My new blog post about Neighbours and Facebook keeping me sane is at
www.attemptingtheordinary.blogspot.com/
Also, can anyone tell me if the 'Most Recent Posts' thing is just featured bloggers or everyone? I'm still at that stage of trying to work out what I'm meant to do when I post something!

MmeGuillotine · 23/11/2011 12:14

My grandmother used to make a buche de Noel every year and I've tried to carry that on as I think they're much nicer than Christmas cakes. I need to find a vegan recipe this year though. :)

MmeGuillotine · 23/11/2011 12:15

Shirley, I've often suspected that the entire point of Christmas dinner is to provide excellent left overs to play with. :)

ShirleyKnot · 23/11/2011 12:24

Ooh MmeG Found you one

I always want the dinner out of the way so that I can have a nice Turkey, cranberry and stuffing (and potato and mayo and IS THERE ANY ROOM IN THERE FOR SOME COLESLAW?) sandwich and a glass of bubbles.

MmeGuillotine · 23/11/2011 12:53

Awesome! Thank you! :)

I've always been vegetarian and we're vegan now so I've never had the obvious joy of turkey left overs but nut roast makes nice sandwiches with all the trimmings. ;)

I think we're having the main dinner on Christmas Eve this year and then having a curry on the day itself - or so my husband thinks...
