Anyone?

I will start off with a link to my latest post, a part of the story of Beth (formerly known as Dora) who moved to Geneva to escape a relationship turned sour.

This is NOT me, by the way. I have drawn on my knowledge of Geneva but it is not an autobiograpy :)

Yes, that is it exactly.

If a person does not give permission then he may find himself confronted with a furious friend/relation. And I cannot blame them. Some people do not want to be on the internet, my DH is one of them. He would be so cross if I were to post about him.

Does it add to the post by identifying the person? Unless it happens to be someone famous, then I doubt it. So protect their identity and yourselves from possible angry confrontation.

It is trickier in your case, as the blog is about and for Ruby, and I would imagine that your DH might find it insulting that a friend would be upset at being identified on a fundraising blog.

I name myself, my husband and my son. Not anyone else. I use initials to talk about anyone else and never post any picture of anyone else without checking with the person.

I have a very open WWW policy but not everyone does.

I don't have approval on my comments MML ... How annoying. Silly blogger. I'll sort it out in the morning. Hoping for another full nights sleep - my second in over 9months! Night ladies. I'm very much enjoying this thread. I feel like I know lots of you now from reading your blogs x

Tee2072 · 30/06/2011 05:48

Great post Shirley! I would be less than happy with my friends! And would have set my mobile to stay lit all night!

ShirleyKnot · 30/06/2011 08:35

Aw. They're terrific, my mates. Grin

Re identifying people on the blog. I'm quite happy to name my immediate family but one of the major reasons I blog is to record my dd's childhood. I use blub.com to make books of my blog which I keep for the children when they're older. Therefore my grown up children are sort of the audience I'm writing for, I record the kind of things I think they may want to hear about when they're older although I'm mindful that they wont' want anything embarrassing out in the public domain either.

Very few other people are mentioned but one or two regulars pop up who are happy to be identified for giving me a courgette in the pub (for example) which isn't exactly controversial.

I am very concious of the dc in a few years being embarassed by me posting about them. I try not to post too many cutesy stories about them as I would hate to think someone in their teenage years could use it to tease them.

Hi all, I am still awaiting the ok to join mumsnet bloggers, but I presume as another Mn er said that i can still post on here? Please check out my post from yesterday on musingsofamum.com. I have only started this blog last month, as a way to relieve the boredom of maternity leave!! Smile
Thanks for the thread on twitter.I finally joined facebook after many years of resisting and I am still not particularly happy about it! However I find twitter less intrusive and have set that up also. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to get more traffic to your blog? I have obviously informed friends and family and have got the odd comment from others who have read the blog, but would like to introduce more people to it. As someone mentioned, it may be very boring to a lot of people, in which case it is just going to end up being an outlet for my thoughts and writing.

queenmaeve · 01/07/2011 11:20

daddyd I just left you a wee comment there. i started my blog in february and am slowly getting into the swing of it. here a couple of ways i've gotten more traffic.

  1. leave comments on blog, bloggers usually are good enough to return the favour, likewise becoming a follower of a blog.
  2. join up to blog hops. these are hosted by one blog and usually have a theme. there are two really easy ones silent sunday, when you just post a single photogarph from the week and the gallery which again is posting a photo to tie into a theme. i take part in these now and again and get lots of traffic as a result.

Wow! There is so much here to catch up on! I'm excited, going to go back and read through now. Have not had much MN-ing time for the past few days. I did just post this on my blog but I'm not sure it is my best effort; but it was a sad family story that has been niggling at me for ages, so I thought I would take the plunge, post it and kind of clear the mental decks before coming up with something cheery for Monday to mark the blog network launch.

Hope everyone is well, will post more when I am done catching up on all your new stuff. I have a fresh cup of tea by my side and I'm READY for you

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 17:35

This is my really quick new one.

My SIL had a baby today. Grin

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 17:47

So sad, DM.

I'll try to catch up with everyone else tonight after A Small Boy (TM) goes to sleep!

DirtyMartini · 01/07/2011 20:12

Just caught up and have left some comments here and there. You all rock. It's true what Mme said, this DOES make me write more; it's inspiring to read all your stuff.

MmeLindor. · 01/07/2011 21:07

DM
That was a sad story, but somehow uplifting - that so many years after her death, she is being remembered and thought of.

Tee
Congratulations

here's mine!

Will read up on everyone else's over the weekend, in between shopping, laundry, helping DH pack for a 2 week trip, and entertaining DH's American niece who's coming for a flying visit.

Wine Monday night. Definitely. Grin

my latest post Please only read if you have an unhealthy obsession with tomatoes.

DirtyMartini · 02/07/2011 14:14

Hello Ruth. That bluebell (harebell? I never know the difference) photo on your blog masthead is beautiful. I'm guessing you took that? I'm reading on a phone screen just now so just taking a very quick look at linked stuff, will look again later.

ProfYaffle: I do not have a tomato obsession, but I'm off to read yours anyway
