Anyone?

I will start off with a link to my latest post, a part of the story of Beth (formerly known as Dora) who moved to Geneva to escape a relationship turned sour.

This is NOT me, by the way. I have drawn on my knowledge of Geneva but it is not an autobiograpy :)

seriously PMSL at bug man party "the doors to hell have appeared in my front room". And the blurry faces explanation.

When you said your blog was about parties I was a bit "will I enjoy that? I slightly hate parties" but it's so so good.

Blush

Thank you DM Blush

I like yours too - it's interesting - honestly it is, I like geneology and history.

Cherry makes me want to strangle kittens. I'm not sure why, but she makes me want to do a poop in the middle of the room - photograph it with fabulous lighting and maybe a camelia stuck in the top of it and BLOG ABOUT THAT.

Bloody Hell.

I've obv not read all of your posts...um.. have you done something about...nope I'm stumped! Your blog is all clever whereas I only get peurile ideas!

Cheers Shirl. I just caught up on your last post too, Mme, at last -- glad you homed in on that advert, it's so very poor.

ShirleyKnot · 10/06/2011 11:09

It isn't dingy - HONEST.

I liked the post about the photo of the woman in the uniform V much.

I have boxes of old photo's like that - and quite a few of men looking odd and some which appear to be from the First WW.

Tee2072 · 12/06/2011 15:21

here's my 2nd to last.

::tee admits to bragging::

flow4 · 14/06/2011 01:02

I've applied too (yesterday), didn't receive an auto-reply and haven't heard anything. Perhaps it's too soon?
I've just started a new blog: stuckinthesandwich.blogspot.com/ - recently found myself thrust into caring for my ill father as well as my kids - hence the 'sandwich generation' reference.

Tee2072 · 14/06/2011 07:50

Finally got around to putting all of you on my blog reader...so now to start reading!!!

DirtyMartini · 14/06/2011 08:07

Oh, I must do that. Do you use Google Reader? I have it set up, but don't use it enough. Will add you all.

My latest post here - it's a bit "meta", as I felt it was time for a rundown of how the project was going & whether it was making sense Hmm.

Flow4, still no word back from MNHQ to me either since the auto-reply. Your blog sounds like something a lot of people will be able to relate to ... look forward to reading it later (I am NOT clicking on anything else this morning until I've done work).

overmydeadbody · 14/06/2011 08:14

my latest post

Tee2072 · 14/06/2011 08:17

Had a look through (DH home from work as he has a GP appointment in a bit, so I am having some childfree time rather than running around in the morning before shipping the lot off time!) everyone's and you all are brilliant!

I'm terrible about remembering who wrote what but the Party Spanner had me laughing out loud and Stuck in the Sandwich had me a bit teary. The Geanology blog is fascinating. MmeLindt already knows I love hers!

Keep writing ladies! Let's take over the 'net!!

ShirleyKnot · 17/06/2011 23:04

Thanks so much Tee.

I did get a message from MNbloggers asking me if I could commit to 4 x posts a month. I can, but I'm also a stroppy cawww so just said "don't worry about it"

Good Lord.

DirtyMartini · 17/06/2011 23:14

Oi! at you getting a message from MN blog folk, for I have had NOTHING

Good post though. I look forward to following the prep for this party in real time, as it were.

I just put up this for Father's Day; is only a few photos.

What kind of stats do you get on Blogger? WordPress has a decentish stats page but I am finding that when I publicize a post on FB, I get a ton of hits immediately afterwards from FB people, but the "referrers" list on my WP stats page refuses to acknowledge that it has any idea where they are coming from. It shows the hits but doesn't show that they've come from FB. Slightly irks me as I am obsessed with enjoy casually glancing now and then at the list of where people come from to the blog. In a breezy, not-fussed manner.

Other WP bloggers on here: does that happen to you?

DirtyMartini · 17/06/2011 23:15

Oh fecking strikeouts, aargh

ShirleyKnot · 18/06/2011 00:10

I am HILARIOUS

Hence my response

I'm on WP so can only tell you the stats I get.

I don't understand much of it - I seem to get hits from stuff like - [[WKP.fhjkfh`jkhfg] and when I click it just says...

DirtyMartini · 18/06/2011 06:39

I don't know why I thought you were on Blogger. Brainfog, it must have been one of the other blogs I was reading last night.

flow4 · 18/06/2011 10:49

My latest isn't very cheery reading, I'm afraid! stuckinthesandwich.blogspot.com/2011/06/no-rest-for-sleepless.html

flow4 · 19/06/2011 11:25

I'm up and running as a 'mumsnet blogger' now (though it doesn't seem all it's cracked up to be yet, I must say!) Posting every couple of days. Here's my latest: stuckinthesandwich.blogspot.com/2011/06/catching-up-with-sinking-sun.html

ShirleyKnot · 19/06/2011 16:00

I like your blog flow. I am so sorry about your dad.

DirtyMartini · 19/06/2011 21:08

flow4, I just read through your blog. It's really good. Good idea to have a poll on there, too.

Reading about your dad reminds me of my grandfather (he did not have cancer; he had Parkinson's and dementia). He and my grandma lived with us when I was a teenager, and then she died and my dad & stepmum cared for him at home for a while. Eventually it all became too much and he moved into residential care for the last stages of his life.

I also had two below-school-age siblings at that time and my teenage step-cousin was living with us too because his parents were being twunts, so it was a very sandwichy, crowded multi-generation household for a while. But I was so young, a lot of it washed over me.

It is really interesting to read your thoughts about what you're dealing with. (Sorry to do a "me" post; it just made me think back to those days.)

flow4 · 19/06/2011 23:27

Thanks, Shirley and Martini :)
And don't worry AT ALL about doing a 'me' post... I wouldn't want to become so obsessed with the stuff that's happening in my life that I stopped being interested in anyone else's. And it IS interesting to read about your childhood home.... I wonder if perhaps it was easier when there much stronger ties between generations? I think I find it so hard because it all falls to me (well, almost all; my brother is willing but not very good at actually doing what needs doing) ... It would be much easier if I has a partner, or a sibling living nearer, or a mum who was still alive, or anyone else to share the care - and the worry - with.

flow4 · 19/06/2011 23:28

Who's on Blogger, by the way? I thought it would be good to 'follow' you all... But maybe I need to start another topic to ask that?!

eastendmummy · 20/06/2011 07:08

Hi everyone. I've posted a bit on previous threads but then real life got in the way. I've just joined the MN blogger's network and am looking forward to spending more time writing and tinkering with my blog as well as being introduced to lots ones. My blog is mainly about our family's move to Hong Kong from London with the added issues of my son's recently diagnosed special needs. I started it to keep in touch with family and friends but hopefully it will expand to cover life in HK in general after a while - we've only been here 3 months (today in fact) so things are still very new. Here's a link in case you are interested From The East End to the Far East

ShirleyKnot · 20/06/2011 09:35

I totally understand what you're saying Flow. When dad died I moved back in with mum as we are such a small family unit. Just me, dad and ma (and my boys obv) and I literally could NOT imagine leaving mum on her own. It was lucky that I was going through a divorce at the time Hmm

Still here 7 years later, but mum is not ill or an invalid or anything like that - and it feels quite natural really, IYKWIM?

MmeLindor. · 20/06/2011 10:30

oh, there are so many new bloggers. That is fab.

I have hardly had time to write my own blog, never mind read others but our guests leave tomorrow so I will hopefully get back into the swing of things.

This morning I added this post, about cooking for guests when one is veggie.
