My sibling is a celebrity AMA

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

AMA

So you haven’t mentioned fact that you have basically spent a good part of the last 24 hours posting about her? When you’ve been messaging with her today.

I wonder why? Could it be that you know full well she wouldn’t be happy. At all.

How many times have you started threads about people @zedtree ?!

Edited

It's people like you who are destroying Mumsnet with your nit-picking. Stop derailing the thread please.

You don’t think relevant to ask why the Op hasn’t told her sister that she has this thread running?

it is AMA after all

so a derail doesn’t really exist in such a context!

BeanQuisine · 16/08/2026 20:26

Rondayvu · 16/08/2026 20:20

Why would a celebrity randomly message you out of nowhere????

Weirder and weirder.

I'm not unknown in Brit celebrity circles myself, and this thread has generated a little notoriety.

Rondayvu · 16/08/2026 20:27

@BeanQuisine and now i need to know who YOU are lol

No I don't think it's relevant. You've posted 38 times and all nit-picking. Give it a rest. I have premium so it takes seconds to check your posts before you start accusing me of something ridiculous.

'AMA' is Mumsnet abbreviation for Ask Me Anything, and is the name of an entire topic board on here for anybody to use. As in:
I'm a vicar and have to work every Christmas Day, AMA'.

How hard can it be?

Oh I wish you were a vicar! I'd have lots to ask: that would be a really interesting AMA!

garibaldibiscuit · 16/08/2026 20:28

OP, has your sibling put some money into a good pension 😁

I wondered recently how people in the entertainment industry plan for the future when they're mostly self-employed. We see so many stories of household names ending up with nothing in old age.

A jokester. You didn't really think they were serious!? Good lord people on this site are dim.

FatBellyGutBucket · 16/08/2026 20:32

@zedtree why are you doing this now? Has your sister pissed you off once too often? The papers are gonna pick this up.

I don't think most posts are serious I am here for the entertainment. I do not appreciate being called dim either.

I think there actually has been a thread started by a vicar before lol

SnoopyPajamas · 16/08/2026 20:38

Interesting thread! Some questions:

  • Have they had cosmetic work done for their career? It seems most celebs have a lot more work done than they admit to, and one of the things that makes it most obvious is when you see them with their non-famous siblings.
  • If they did, was there pressure to do so? Or was it more that being famous makes people a bit vain, because you have to be professionally a bit obsessed with your appearance, and there's realistically only one way that goes. It seems like a lot of celebrities are absolutely fixated on how they look. Even ones you wouldn't think it mattered to.
  • Similarly, do you find that being treated like the most important / interesting person in the room all the time rubs off on them, and they start internalising the same attitude? Celebrities all claim to be so down to earth, but I think it must be harder than they admit to hold onto that. It's very easy to buy into your own hype if people are blowing smoke up your arse all day long! Do you ever feel like you have to check your sibling on this, and is it awkward?
  • Does your sibling worry about losing their celebrity status? How do you think they would cope if they did?
  • In the same vein: how much do they follow online conversation about them? Do you think their relationship with social media is healthy or unhealthy?

I wondered recently how people in the entertainment industry plan for the future when they're mostly self-employed. We see so many stories of household names ending up with nothing in old age.

That's often because they were shafted contractually by agents and/or managers, and to a fair extent, rotten financial advice from people who were trusted to do the right thing and didn't.

Either Sophie or someone wanting us to think she is.

SnoopyPajamas · 16/08/2026 20:46

Do they have any famous friends or colleagues you absolutely can't stand? CFs, famous edition 😂

Obviously you can't name names, but is there anyone so unlike their public image you think "ooh, if only you knew!" every time their name comes up in conversation?

FaceIt · 16/08/2026 20:48

Thanks for the thread it's very interesting.

Do you share the same surname?

Has anyone that didn't know you are related ever guessed that he/she is your sibling because you look similar or have similar personality characteristics?

Chilihealer · 16/08/2026 20:48

Have you ever been to any big events/awards with them? If so which one? Did you enjoy it? Is it like watching on the telly or are all the celebs behind the cameras drunk going wild?

bitontheobtuse · 16/08/2026 20:56

Calliopespa · 16/08/2026 20:41

Did it get lewd!?

Why would it?

As far as I recall, it was by a female minister juggling family life with the necessity of having to be in church a lot during the Christmas period.

Oh. That's more boring that I was expecting.

I had Jane Austen's Mr Collins in mind ...
