You're possibly just as unwell as a hoarder, sounds like you have some mother issues and an unhappy childhood

Do you find that an environment with a lot going on is quite stressful? Do you think if there's a lot of books and pictures you get sensory overload?

OP you have a life that works for you . Uncomplicated and easy for you to live with. Everyone is different.Xx

But if we all approached life only in terms of what we strictly needed, it would exclude art, music, beauty etc.

Im not unwell and my childhood was not bad i dont have mother issues either, its just me as a person.

Nope it just dont bother me, i like to look at art i go museums.
But i dont want or need loads of things in my home.

I go to museums art gallys i listern to music, i see and hear the beauty of the world without the need to have it in my home.
I dont and have never told anyone to live how i do as it is my choice to do so, im use to it.

I'm in awe of minimalists. I strive to be one. DH says he is too, but he's just a tight arse who uses it as an excuse for denying me stuff like curtains and blinds and rugs.

But objectively, it is extreme. That’s not rude, it’s just fact. It’s how you want to live and that’s absolutely fine, but it’s still extreme. If it wasn’t, I doubt you’d have bothered starting an AMA about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s just different from how you live. It makes a lot of sense to me!!

People on mumsnet start threads over anything on AMA so i did just that.

I understand that it ay sound over some limits to others, but its normal for me.

Noone is going to start a thread saying ‘I own a sofa, AMA’ though, are they? They’re usually about unusual or interesting situations. Not big standard normal things that no one would bother asking about because it’s completely normal…

I'm not a minimalist by any means but I agree with this. I have everything I need, why buy more "stuff" just because it looks nice?

Is it a case of not wanting to tidy up? I can understand that as a family of 5 I sometimes wish I could sweep everything up and shove it in the bin so the sides are instantly clear and I don’t have to find homes for stuff and put it away.
I hate clutter and find something quite satisfying about having a declutter and shipping a bag of stuff I don’t need out to chuck away.
