@BioHive

its like people only see success, they dont realise what it took to achieve it all

Yes, and the other thing that has really boggled my mind on this thread is the number of people (presumably most of them women 😳) attempting to taunt OP by suggesting that she's had no role in building up the business because she's not the person who started it. I'm used to ignorant men (that's ignorant men, not all men) thinking that way, but to find so many women here thinking the same way is truly shocking.

Do the colleagues in your state school know the rough financial status of your husband?

Some of my colleagues do, not the exact amount of course.

I am good at what I do and they judge me on my work.

Let's be honest, genuinely wealthy people don't tend to announce their wealth unless they're attention seekers or lying.

I'm not one of them but my DP, who works in the entertainment industry, is good friends with a couple of very wealthy people (although their wealth is never a topic of conversation, so couldn't even tell you how much they're actually worth and I imagine google isn't accurate) who have a good reputation for being extremely down to earth and humble and would find discussing their wealth embarrassing and very crass, considering how many people are struggling.

MumblesParty · 22/03/2024 00:26

What is your job? Because surely only a head teacher would earn that much in a state school?

justasking111 · 22/03/2024 00:29

It's all very well being jealous but you haven't had that sick feeling in your stomach and the sleepless nights when a client of yours goes belly up owing you 250k . Happens too often.

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 22/03/2024 00:29

@MumblesParty
head teachers in state schools are on about £120k

Shiveringinthecountry · 22/03/2024 00:30

Well OP hasn't announced her wealth in the way that you're suggesting. This is an anonymous forum. None of us knows who OP is. She'd have to tell us that to be announcing her wealth.

Instead this is AMA, a place where people who have an experience that most of us don't have, but might be interested in, offer people an opportunity to satisfy their curiosity, on an anonymous basis.

Delphiniumandlupins · 22/03/2024 00:31

Is there anything significant you would like to do with your wealth, perhaps a charity you would like to set up or support?

momager1 · 22/03/2024 00:34

ughh. I am going to bow out of this. several cars.. all the money. I am going to say this. I live off of less than 3000 USD a month in the dominican republic. House paid.. car paid.. So angry at this post. It does not matter what you make money wise..it is what you do for your family and others that counts. This is my car. And by the way I could have any car I wanted .. but no.. I have a kia picanto ..the smallest cheapest car I could find as we do not drive much. I have alot of money in investments in canada. I hope that they help our children someday and maybe even their children as we have enough. We are happy simple people. OP you need to read the room.

Perhaps you need to read the room too. You live off more than I have, and I certainly don't have any other money in investments or otherwise. I'll try not to lose sleep over the fact that you're wealthier than me, though, and that you've chosen to broadcast that information on Mumsnet. Everything is relative.

upanddowns · 21/03/2024 22:46

Are you upset that some people can't afford to go to the dentist, can't feed their families, can't go on holiday, buy everything second hand so they can have furniture, clothes? Do you not feel that you should share your wealth? Do you for example contribute to a food bank?

We of course donate to charity and donate to food banks.

I have explained that there were times we could not feed our family, you know people can struggle and then things become more wealthy.

@Shiveringinthecountry you are right. I am sorry. I got myself in a tizzy about something and should have left it alone. Again. I apologize.

Teenangels · 22/03/2024 00:46

naturesform · 21/03/2024 22:57

Were you just friends for the first 15 years, or were you the OW? It's a confusing timeline

Where have you got that from, nowhere have I said that we were friends for 15 years, I only thought step mums were asked if they were the OW on MN

Thanks, but there's really no need to apologise. Best wishes to you Flowers

momager1 · 22/03/2024 00:50

@Shiveringinthecountry best to you and yours. Money does not make good people...in fact sometimes the opposite. But we are all human and should have respect for each other. Thankyou for being so respectful when I clearly missed the mark by going overboard.

MaknaeLine · 22/03/2024 00:52

How much, on an average month, do you spend on clothes for yourself?

How much is your weekly food shop?

Don’t apologise op. Good for you.

do you worry your kids won’t have ambition.

my kids life is incomparable to mine and dh growing up. They have no wants and I worry they won’t have much grit and determination.

is there stuff you still scrimp on due to old habits.

My kids have drive and ambition, one is training to be a midwife knows that there will be nightshifts etc.

We have taught them they have to work to get where they want to be.

My husband hates credits for everyday things, its just the way he was taught by his parents, old habits die hard.

Is your DH called Derek?

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 22/03/2024 00:59

@naturesform plot twist!
@Teenangels if I may be so bold, is your DH your eldest’s father? I believe someone queried timelines earlier in relation to a question about eldest’s age, please could you clarify.

She's already said her eldest is not her DH's child - she had her first DC when she was 22 and met him 18 months later.

She also says her eldest is 26 and her youngest 17.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 22/03/2024 01:27

Bet it isn't!!. If it is, you have no class.

PeachCastle · 22/03/2024 01:40

Well I'm 3 pages in and you haven't yet answered any of the questions you've been asked about the subject matter.

Your posts have just been sniping at posters and shitting on your husband.

Completely pointless!

Yet you keep popping back to humble-brag and tell us all how you could afford anything you want and have £££ in investments in Canada 🙄
Oh and virtue signal about working in a soup kitchen.

op said earlier in the thread they donate to charity. Also as high tax payers they’ll be contributing a lot to the less fortunate in this country through benefits etc. Our country needs high earners. Don’t people get this?

Most of the posts have made me laugh but the jealous bile dripping from some of them makes me nauseous.

And those taking the piss out of the OP’s spag and posting style when she’s explained she has dyslexia is just….eurgh.
