Next question Miele vs ILVE?

Miele, my husband could not see the point of anything more expensive, hope that helps.

What are the things you think money can’t buy you?
I’ll go first.
Humility.

A family member of mines has a very successful scaffolding business. His days of erecting scaffolds on houses are long gone. Very successful in the tv and film industry, company makes millions per year.

But people only see what they want, they have no idea and think we cant possibly make money from something that does not need many qualifications.

@BioHive I appreciate your point of view. We live modestly but are blessed with a paid for home and car and enough to enjoy life. Our investments in canada are vast. They will be for our kids and grandkids inheritances.. we have invested well. My husband was top of his field and I was a very successful restaurant owner. Sold the restaurant. Husband still remotes consults. Point being.. this is a COL crisis world wide. Announcing how much money you have is just..well crass. If you want me to be crass, I am 56 years old. Live in paradise. Do not work anymore. BUT I work in a soup kitchen here. Because poverty is real. REAL. Of course it is not a paid position. But we need to stop being tone deaf. It does not mean that those who have money should not enjoy it.. but they should not rub it in the face of the family that mum and dad rarely see each other ..ships in the night.. because they are trying desperately to feed and clothe and keep a roof over the kids heads. They do not need kicked down by people saying that they make well over half a million a year. Sorry. I am not normally a dick but this just upsets me

For the person that asked why so many cars.

I have a Land Rover for the horses, a car that takes all the kids or most of them, and a Convertible.

My husband has a 4x4 and a work van.

Genuine question. With that level of income why do you have a Land Rover for, presumably, towing the horses when you go to shows? Why not a lorry? Also, do you keep your horses at home?

Bigmisstake · 22/03/2024 00:10

Do you mean designated safeguards lead because state schools can’t afford 60kfir anyone . Are you depressed and making up a fantasy life

justasking111 · 22/03/2024 00:12

Friend of my husband's at school dyslexic so was in the remedial class. One kind teacher taught this class gardening aka double digging lesson. He's now a very wealthy man with a landscaping company.

@momager1 I think you have expressed quite eloquently why so many posters are finding the op if it’s real to be so irritating.

Some people are so rude.

Do you enjoy your job?
Do you get to spend time together or do you work long hours?

I love my job, but will be leaving soon.

We spend time together but he is always "on call" for something that may go wrong, he works long hours.

I appreciate your efforts and points, but then:
Why are the public encouraged to buy self-help books that encourage people to become rich?

Why do we have various celebrity biographies extolling their wealth?

Why do we have various business leaders and their biographies focusing on their wealth, etc.?

Why are footballers paid £££££ when society needs better services?

Why should we only read their books about wealth when we can discuss these topics on these threads?

Well I'm not going to hate on you.
Sounds like you have both worked for it..hubby labour in woodwork and you a degree, I admire that, it's well earned, and I think people respect it more if you've made it happen yourselves, built up a business from scratch.
Gosh I have lots of q's!
Was part of it handed to you on a plate? ie family business or inheritance?
What is your house like?
What wine do you drink (price range too 😀)

We had no inheritance or a family business, we started with nothing and have worked hard to get to where we are.

We took loans and went without.

Our house is lovely and homely.

Wine around £30 a bottle at home but happy to have whatever is being served.

@BioHive you know who gets rich of all the self help books? the authors. Some who have been bankrupt many times.. but we buy them anyway (raises a guilty hand lol) and you know what happens to those books..they gather dust on a shelf.

True, I get what you're saying. It's just that even if society were fully equal, with every person having, for example, 1 million each, then you would have some saving, some spending, and some investing. So, you would still have an unbalanced society with different levels of wealth. It's like wondering when is the best time to talk to the rich, etc.
