As unearned income that's a healthy investment 😊

I’m genuinely curious as to what it’s like to earn this much money, mainly the effect it has own your outlook, relationships, the problems that arise which you don’t have at a normal level of income. The impact on your wellbeing (good and bad). What’s the impact on your kids and what would you advise someone newly wealthy?

But your responses are really shallow and give no insight at all. It’s a bit odd after so many pages to have said so little!

Shallow, I have explained how we run the business and what the business is, I have answered the questions that have popped up and will go back and read the whole thread.

Our outlook has changed as I explained not immediate family have tried it on wanting money/loans or things for free, real friends have been really supportive and are happy for us.

I can not change our health and one of our children has ASC another ADHD, our children have been privileged to go to private school but they always had a Saturday job the only ones that have in their circle of friends, as we thought that they needed to know the value of money. We have have a daughter that is studying to be a midwife and are very proud of her.

  1. What supermarkets do you shop in?
  2. Do you have a ‘boot room’?
  3. Did your kids go to private school?
  4. Do you have a snooker/pool table, cinema room, pantry, wine cellar-type of features in your home?
  5. Do you tend to socialise with similar high earner couples?
  6. Do you own any designer bags? (Louis Vuitton doesn’t count though)
  7. When holidaying do you fly business or economy?

Noooooo, that was my absolute favourite. I'm thinking of developing my own list of car insults.

The poster thinks every scaffolding firm only erects scaffolds on houses, if only they knew.

A family member of mines has a very successful scaffolding business. His days of erecting scaffolds on houses are long gone. Very successful in the tv and film industry, company makes millions per year.

Teenangels · 21/03/2024 23:51

Cushions2 · 21/03/2024 23:34

Do you own all of your own scaffolding? If so, does it need to be insured?

90% of the scaffolding poles are owned by us, it needs to be insured and it also has identification marks on them to show its our companies property. We do hire sometimes for a really big job or a job has ran over. There is a hire charge per week that we charge on jobs.

What's the point of this thread? All the OP's answers are so wishy washy. It's quite dull.

lovelysoap · 21/03/2024 23:54

Don’t apologise op. Good for you.

do you worry your kids won’t have ambition.

my kids life is incomparable to mine and dh growing up. They have no wants and I worry they won’t have much grit and determination.

is there stuff you still scrimp on due to old habits.

justasking111 · 21/03/2024 23:54

January '24 Kim Kardashian nett worth was 1.7 billion dollars.

For showing off her shelf bum 🙄🙄🙄

There's always someone richer and someone poorer than you or me

determinedtomakethiswork · 21/03/2024 23:55

Hang on, your take-home pay is £780,000 but you only have enough to live on for a year if it went belly up?

I earned £780,001 so I feel I can answer on behalf of rich AMA people

  1. What supermarkets do you shop in? Supermarkets are awfully common, we go to the local butcher and greengrocer
  2. Do you have a ‘boot room’? Yes but I don't go in there. Full of mud and other nasty things
  3. Did your kids go to private school? Oh god no. They go to public school
  4. Do you have a snooker/pool table, cinema room, pantry, wine cellar-type of features in your home? We have a wine cellar. The butler makes sure it is properly stocked. A cinema room would be terribly gauche
  5. Do you tend to socialise with similar high earner couples? One never asks their friends what they earn
  6. Do you own any designer bags? (Louis Vuitton doesn’t count though) I don't carry a purse or money so no need for a bag
  7. When holidaying do you fly business or economy? I don't travel on anything so vulgar as a commercial airline
momager1 · 21/03/2024 23:57

@OP I really do not mean to be rude..but in a world where so many people are having a hard time putting food on the table and shoes on their childrens feet.. Do you not think this is a bit tone deaf. I have a shit ton that cannot be touched yet as we invested and it is still locked in and we would loose a shit ton in taxes as it is in accounts in canada. BUT. I live in a gorgeous country and have a comfortable lifestyle. I look around and see the poverty. I do not BRAG. and sorry.. Not many these days have the means to make your kind of money and it just feels like you are kicking those that are already feeling shit about their situations.. a bit further down. Sorry that is just my opinion

i can respect your perspective and i understand your point but there has always been rich and poor divide that debate can be levelled at any point in history so then are we only allowed to read about the rich or depending on wealth brackets etc read via their biographies ?

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 22/03/2024 00:02

  1. We shop in Waitrose and M&S, have our shopping delivered by Sainsburys or Ocado, and do sometimes pop into Lidl or Aldi.
  2. We have boot room, as we have dogs and my daughter rides a horse and dumps her riding clothes in there.
  3. All kids have gone to private school.
  4. We have a pantry and wine cellar, no to cinema room but have a snug that we watch films in.
  5. We socialise with everyone, most of our friends are from when we first got together and have all incomes, my husband is not keen on parents from school as he says it like a pissing competition and some look down on him.
  6. I have designer bags, my everyday bags are mulberry because I can chuck in a laptop etc.
  7. We fly business or first class depending on where we are going and how many of our family are travelling.

No, I said that we have a sum that we can get our hands on straight away, we have investments that would take longer to be released.
