Absolutely women can (and do) have business sense.

But you've already said it's your DH's company, so the sense would be to ask him as he started it.

its like the phrase do you want to talk to the manager or the one that knows whats what

No, I said it was our business.

Its not serious because the OP isnt a high earner

Do you really think this thread is real and OP isnt just having a laugh?

For example, focusing on complex scaffold designs for large-scale construction projects or specializing in industrial scaffolding for sectors like oil and gas or power generation can command premium rates.

Try to do some research first

Sweetheart, I'm not wasting my time researching this rubbish.
Any of the examples you gave would employ more than 10 people. So, I still call BS!

justasking111 · 21/03/2024 23:26

For those of you curious about scaffolding skills I was looking at this building tonight from a construction point of view

You'd think he'd put some scaffolding up and build at least one house for all these adult children.

Why? 2 are still to finish uni.

This thread is embarrassing

Yes, it's embarrassing that there seem to be so many bitter, and envious people on Mumsnet this evening who want to attack the OP for no reasons other than spite and jealousy.

There's a tiny proportion of people in this country born into great wealth. We should celebrate the fact that a few of the rest of us manage through hard work and some good luck to earn that kind of wealth and lifestyle. Good for the few who do, IMO, and of course it's interesting to know how people did it. If we weren't interested then none of us would have clicked on the thread.

Namechange25793 · 21/03/2024 23:27

I’m genuinely curious as to what it’s like to earn this much money, mainly the effect it has own your outlook, relationships, the problems that arise which you don’t have at a normal level of income. The impact on your wellbeing (good and bad). What’s the impact on your kids and what would you advise someone newly wealthy?

But your responses are really shallow and give no insight at all. It’s a bit odd after so many pages to have said so little!

Not sure why dyslexia would keep you from doing anything (from fellow dyslexic)...but the undertone I'm reading is your husband's business has done well, you now work in that but (having a father that built up successful business albeit not as successful financially as your husbands) I understand that it may be the husbands business but usually it's been the wife or team effort that's driven it in the background! Well done to the pair of you but - no judgement - do you think about the environment? (Thinking extra cars than perhaps you 'need', extra ovens 'because it looked better?

We employ 10 people and then sub contract to self employed, like most large companies working in trades.

I suggest you do some research.

That’s great OP, my question is , well, I can’t think of one that hasn’t been asked. Just wanted to say that it is great for you 👌, enjoy and carefully note that money doesn’t equal good heath 🙄or happiness or happy children and reliable family or make you a good person and so please check yourself and your situation regularly. Otherwise just enjoy and remember those less money fortunate

Ask any brickie, chippie, sparks, or plumber how sub contracting works.

I am going to be truthful the ovens do look better in the kitchen.

The cars are because I liked them and the car that we use for the horses is on its last legs and is driven around a field usually with a horse box on the back.

One car is a hybrid.

The OP who did an AMA about £500k must be fuming!

😂 as if that thread wasn’t insufferable enough, OP came to trump it 😂

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 21/03/2024 23:37

someone asked upthread, can’t find who, but posters are taking the piss because the OP, is being evasive and weird. Her tone is the same as a woman who thinks she’s the first woman to give birth, it’s annoying.

KCSIE · 21/03/2024 23:37

Teenangels · 21/03/2024 23:24

No, I said it was our business.

No, you said you were named as director and he started up on his own, so I still think he'd be best placed to answer that previous posters question.

He started working and after a few years started up on his own, starting on his business while working a few days for others.

My husband saw that people needed a professional that was going to be different in an industry full of chancers.

In his business once you have made an outlay you do not need to keep replacing the equipment as they can be reused making more profits.

Namechange25793 · 21/03/2024 23:38

OP why don’t you ignore the stupid questions and jibes … and focus on the serious questions and answer them properly in more depth. I think there are plenty of people interested in your experience

Ubugly · 21/03/2024 23:39

Why is everyone so angry? They will pay high taxes and answer the bloody questions people ask all the time on here yet hate the answers 🙄
