Long time lurker but have NC for this.

I run an LGBT Pride event. I want to deal with some of the nonsense theories that we welcome pedophiles or have banned lesbians.

Ask me anything. (Disclaimer: I won't answer anything specific that might out me.)

Because any kink on display has to be legal by general public decency standards.

I have to say, remembering the chants at Pride in the 1990s, they were far worse for passing kids than anyone wearing a pup outfit or carrying a whip.

What do you consider to be public decency standards? Is a g string and pouch with nothing much else acceptable?

MerryCheesemas · 20/12/2023 18:49

Do you have children OP?

Have you got an anti-TERF policy?

What happens at your events if lesbians say that TW are not W?

To participate in our Pride (and all Prides I know) you must be inclusive of everyone in the LGBTI+ community.

I find the TERF abbreviation unhelpful and I also don't allow that to be used at our Pride. I know some Prides do allow it.

What do you feel about the view that people don't care about another's sexuality and therefore have no prejudice against sexuality.
Following on from this a view may be that pride draws attention to sexuality ... And genuinely a lot of people feel it's normal to be gay why have pride

I was in London during Pride this year and a man on the tube with a trans flag/placard was wearing an adult nappy and nothing else.

I’ll be honest, I felt really uncomfortable, because there were kids around.

How do you square being inclusive with safeguarding?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/12/2023 18:52

Should adult human female lesbians be allowed to meet up with other adult human female lesbians without being heckled, threatened, or otherwise coerced into including penis-having lesbians?

In a wider context, should female people be able to meet up with other female people, compete in sports against other female people, get changed at gyms etc, access domestic violence help, and rape crisis centres and their services, and go to the loo free from the presence of penis-havers - with suitable provision alongside these things for trans women?

MerryCheesemas · 20/12/2023 18:53

Do your trustees and volunteers have any safeguarding training as standard?

Pride began because people demanded we were hidden. Some people still think that. We can only marry someone of the same sex in around 30 countries. In 12 countries male homosexuals can be put to death and in more than 70 they can be jailed.

That's why we still want Pride.

Would you rather wrestle a trans woman or a biological woman? And why?

AlisonDonut · 20/12/2023 18:54

You can't say you want to 'deal with the nonsense theory about welcoming paedophilia' whilst also welcoming fetishism and kink at your family friendly events.

Honestly, people that can't see the issue here should not be allowed to arrange family friendly events as you do not understand safeguarding.

TeenDivided · 20/12/2023 18:55

LGB are sexual orientation.

TQ+ are something different.

Why do they belong together?

We have a safeguarding policy developed with police and local authority and dedicated team members.

We are not responsible for what people do away from our event. I guess London Pride would say the same re your person on the tube.

Yes of course they should. But it won't be at a trans inclusive Pride event.

They are welcome to organise their own Pride if they don't like ours.

@lgbtpride

How do you feel about the Harry Potter J.K Rowling getting harrassenent ect,
even having her Edinburgh family residence being put on social media for anyone on social media by extreme Trans groups,

even anyone openly in support of her in any, gets the same or similar kind of targetting, harassment mistreatment too,

the irony is they are doing exactly the same thing, that marginalised Trans groups experienced a lot before in the past, even still sometimes.

Do your trustees and volunteers have any safeguarding training as standard?

Mandatory for Tirstees and Managers. All volunteers are supervised by at least one person with safeguarding training.

Bit disingenuous OP, he was at Pride! Why else would he have been dressed in a nappy, carrying a placard?

Are Glastonbury Festival responsible for people on a train from Paddington?

It's immensely disappointing that both the GC and Trans sides have got so entrenched with the hatred. It's so toxic. I'm trans inclusive but I hate the hate iyswim.

They have been together at Pride since I started attending in the 1990s. We've always stood together. So why should we change it?

Why uncomfortable? Kids don't care, adults with sane minds do.

No question, just wishing you a Happy Christmas.

HunterBidensBurnerPhone · 20/12/2023 19:04

"It's an event primarily about human sexuality"

Why do we need this?

Visibility for homosexuals makes sense. In order to push forwards the campaign for equal rights. But Pride hasn't been about that for years.

Why on earth do we need to celebrate straight men in baby doll dresses and fetish gear?
