Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

I bloody love it when the bravissimo catalogue comes and I can look at it and think I don’t need you any more

Weatherwax13 · 10/01/2024 21:24

@Madagascary I've been happily marking their emails as junk :) However anxious I am about my results, the size is definitely right:)

Bigtitsbetty · 10/01/2024 22:36

Hello my small chested beauties.
can anyone recommend a bralette or soft bra that has cups? I like the best top type ones for comfort but I still get monoboob. I like the look of the shaper mint ones but don’t know anyone that’s tried one.

My bra is ultra tight and it’s affecting my sleep, I’m wondering if I’ve been given the wrong size. Massively digging onto my under boob scars. Is that normal for compression bras? I don’t think I can last another month like this 😥

Martinisarebetterdirty · 11/01/2024 01:34

@CoolShoeshine does it have a narrow band at the base or a nice fat wide one? The narrow ones do dig in, Macrom is recommended on here.
Out of my revision surgery and having slept all day unable to sleep now 😀
@Weatherwax13 - I’ve had only one side revised to match the other smaller one. An extra 300g removed! He’s also done something to make it closer to my chest wall and done something to the middle to match the cleavage start line of the other one. For context my left was like a nice capital D on its side, the right was bigger still (over a cup) and wider at the base but also pointy and the cleavage line a good inch or so lower (pre original surgery so not my surgeon’s doing). After not much pain from my original surgery, have to say this hurts to buggery. Especially the cleavage tuck - if I move in slightly the wrong way I definitely know about it, sharp pains rather than the sunburn pain of before. Interestingly he’s let the “new” side a fair bit higher and said don’t worry it will drop, so even with the uplifts they obviously expect this. Hope this helps a bit - definitely happy I did it (in spite of being awake at 1.30am and the pain)!

Weatherwax13 · 11/01/2024 01:58

@Martinisarebetterdirty wow. Certainly sounds like the surgeon listened to exactly what you needed. So pleased for you! Sorry you're in such pain though.
Do keep us updated as it starts to "settle".

Martinisarebetterdirty · 11/01/2024 06:43

To be honest I only said about the cup size difference, he picked up on everything else, but shows that aesthetic changes are possible. It only hurts when I move, so I’ll get there!

Singletrackmind · 11/01/2024 09:05

@Bigtitsbetty hey lovely we are looking for the same thing I think! Not seen the shaper mint ones … will look. At the moment I’m living in the M&S ‘good move’ sports bralette that comes in black & green & their ‘flex fit’ bras are ok. If you find the one I need to know!!
@CoolShoeshine what @Madagascary said. Your boobs and body will be swollen, you may need to go up a size/ have something with a nice wide band. I had 3 Lipoelastic bras that were brilliant.
@Martinisarebetterdirty very pleased to hear your news / another 300gms is a lot.! Sorry it’s a bit sore but it sounds like he really fixed things which is fantastic. Rest & heal up.

CoolShoeshine · 11/01/2024 10:17

Hi @Martinisarebetterdirty @Singletrackmind The bra is a Lipoelastic one so quite wide band but it rolls up. Last night I took it off about 1am as a last resort so that I could sleep and am now worried my boobs seem bigger this morning! I’ve ordered a selection of new bras in bigger sizes to try on, hopefully it is just a swelling issue.
@Martinisarebetterdirty all the best for a speedy recovery, 300g is a shocking amount!

I really like these from M&S, very soft and comfy (wireless) but give some shape. https://www.marksandspencer.com/body-soft-wired-t-shirt-bra/p/clp60554284?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

@Martinisarebetterdirty So glad you’ve got that fixed. Keep on top of the pain relief and take it easy!

Singletrackmind · 11/01/2024 10:59

@CoolShoeshine so all surgeons seem to be different but mine was very strict about wearing the compression bra to reduce the swelling & for support. It actually took me while to stop wearing them as it felt like my safety blanket 😁 Maybe get a size up for now… as you do need to be comfy & need to keep your new boobies supported.
@user80 will. check those out 🙏🏻

I found many of them did not have very wide bands underneath the cups. The one I quote regularly is the Marks & Spencer‘s post mastectomy crop. Top comes in a pale grey which I bought.

Madagascary · 11/01/2024 13:55

300g is a chicken breast innit

Madagascary · 11/01/2024 14:25

You know that memory of pain you have , eg of letdown reflex?

I just had one of the pain of digging in bra straps. I went to move mine to relieve pain then I realise I don’t have

that’s odd innit

CoolShoeshine · 12/01/2024 18:34

I’ve had two little wins today -
Got my new Macon bra on speed delivery, well worth the money, it’s a larger size, softer and more comfortable.
Put on a shirt that I’ve had for years but have barely worn. I usually hate wearing shirts because the buttons strain over my chest. It looks and feels so loose today and I felt more stylish than I’ve done in years.
im so happy because over the last few days the lack of sleep and discomfort was starting to get me down and I even had one or two ‘what have I done’ moments. But today felt good 😊

Madagascary · 12/01/2024 18:54

That’s just brilliant
shirts are a revelation

Weatherwax13 · 12/01/2024 19:24

@CoolShoeshine that's awesome. I'd completely given up wearing shirts - and any dress with buttons. Probably everyone on this thread would say the same! Glad you're happy:)

Singletrackmind · 13/01/2024 10:11

@CoolShoeshine great news and yes, tops that zip and button up it's fab!

Heartfullofcheese · 13/01/2024 15:37

So many more moments like that to come @CoolShoeshine 😀 hang on in there! @Martinisarebetterdirty, hope you recover well. Bit rubbish to have to go through that and I hope they are right afterwards.
Hope everyone is ok - who is next up for the op? Anyone imminent?

Lesserspottedbex · 13/01/2024 16:15

end of July - around school hols
but got another consult with surgeon soon to fine tune my questions / concerns and if I can bring that forward to Easter hols I might as there is too much time for me to oscillate and worry!

DD, 7th March. Bricking it on her behalf, but saying nothing.

Are you a teacher? I definitely try and get it done at Easter, I only had two weeks off and I was fine. Then you can enjoy the summer

gosh don’t!!

be excited for her. Really try hard because otherwise she’ll feel your nerves.

veiledsentiments · 13/01/2024 18:08

I am excited for her! However, still a worry as her mother.
