Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

Are you a teacher? I definitely try and get it done at Easter, I only had two weeks off and I was fine. Then you can enjoy the summer

Also @Lesserspottedbex the compression bra and socks would be pretty unbearable in the August heat. If you can get Easter definitely go for it!

Madagascary · 13/01/2024 18:36

Oh God, I actually get so excited for you all you’ve got this joy to experience. Apart from a couple of posters who’ve had complications, which of courses tricky for them, all of us can’t believe once you get past two months utter joy of not carrying that weight around.

Every day I take my clothes off and see my new tits I am just so pleased. (!)

also, my top tip would be to really use this chance (once you get the sign off )to exercise, to really go for it.
If you haven’t before find something that you want to do and get on with it, I couldn’t be happier feeling stronger

Lesserspottedbex · 13/01/2024 20:14

Yep… teacher for my sins!

Lesserspottedbex · 13/01/2024 20:22

Thanks.. yes now thinking Easter might be better BUT have booked a big trip with my two sons after their A levels for end of June so was thinking that might be a bit soon after surgery. (Long haul and travelling about for 2 weeks) Any advice/thoughts welcome please? Was trying to incorporate thinking about complications / swelling/ etc etc which is why I delayed … ? 🤔

Yep… teacher for my sins!

Have you told them you were having the operation. Do not presume you have to take it as unpaid. Message me if you want

If you have it in the first two weeks of April, you’ll be absolutely fine by June

Martinisarebetterdirty · 13/01/2024 20:39

You’ll be fine to travel, I went to Japan with work about 6 weeks after mine with no problems. Yes I’ve had minor complications (well revisionary surgery) BUT I am still absolutely delighted I’ve done it. I wish I’d done it years ago, it is amazing to be here in a chunky jumper and not be all tits. I wore a slip dress without a bra over Xmas, I felt amazing. It has changed my life for the better, wishing good luck to all with upcoming surgeries.

CatrinVennastin · 14/01/2024 13:51

oh my goodness this thread (and the first one) are amazing!

I have my first consultation with a surgeon on Tuesday.

Current boob size is 32HH and so droopy. I have been thinking about a reduction for years but the icing on the cake so to speak was being in a fancy hotel room with lots of mirrors (cousin’s wedding) and I was mortified at how awful my boobs look.

Hopefully the surgeon will do a nape to nipple measurement, and I think it’s supposed to be like 21 cmand mine was 28 1/2.

make sure you find out about after-care and what they recommend. If they tell you that you will be better in under a week then they’re lying!. Also they should tell you that it’s the most successful operation in Sobfar as customer satisfaction.
He also, or she of course, should show you pictures of other peoples before and after.
they also took photos in my first appointment. And pointed out that I was lopsided, which I’ve never noticed before, but which looked blatantly obvious.

also, do go in one size smaller than you. Hope you will go. We know they can’t guarantee size but it’s always better to be smaller than bigger.

Madagascary · 14/01/2024 17:43

Just remembered, if you have under arm boob tissue, ask about liposuction

Singletrackmind · 14/01/2024 18:49

@CatrinVennastin hello & welcome .. and yes that thing of seeing your boobs in a mirror any mirror ... I was a 32 G ish and mostly droop ... I didn't have nearly as much off as lots of people I read about, not least as mine were just bits of breast tissue dangling in skin if the truth be told. They were almost 'folded' up in some of my bras.

Now, honestly they are so frigging perky .. I have a happy giggle every time I take my top off 😀Yes, there's lots to consider but don't be afraid or wait if you don't need too ... the biggest regret most people have is having waited so long to do it! Ask anything you need to.

CatrinVennastin · 16/01/2024 07:10

@Singletrackmind you have basically just described my boobs!

@Madagascary thank you, have got a long list of questions to ask her today.

my job is quite physical so the recovery time is something I am quite apprehensive about. My plan is to have two weeks holiday then a week sick leave. I have to time the op before my eldest starts uni too but in all honestly just want it done.

will update once I have met the surgeon today!

Madagascary · 16/01/2024 19:17

@CatrinVennastin hurry up and finish your tea, so you can tell us how the appointment went

CoolShoeshine · 16/01/2024 22:49

@CatrinVennastin hope all went well today!

Can I ask you other ladies a couple of questions?
Did your breasts and stomach feel puffy and swollen for some time following the op? Mines not a problem to be concerned about according to the doctor, but I’m just hoping it will subside soon. I feel a bit bloated.
Also what moisturiser did you use for the scars?

Madagascary · 17/01/2024 06:36

I was a shoddy moisturiser person really. One for scars from boots.

Found some sexy pics of my lipo/skin excision scars under my left armpit.

Here’s 1 month I week after. You can see a bit of the other too

Madagascary · 17/01/2024 06:47

And here a year and 2 months after

the underarm lipo (as predicted) was more painful than the op , in recovery.

We’ve had breast reductions. Ask us anything.
Madagascary · 17/01/2024 06:51

But!

it got rid of this - that my mum used to call my chub.

scarred for life mum. Thanks. (Literally !!)

Singletrackmind · 17/01/2024 09:14

Lols @Madagascary .. fortunately I did not have that 😁
@CoolShoeshine bloating is totally normal for some people post op. I didn’t have it but loads do … it will go down! But swollen feeling boobs … yes for ages cause there’s so much internal healing happening … they still feel that way some days now at 6 months … but that cld be hormonal!
I used biooil religiously on scars for the first 4 months or so once I was allowed to. I’m now just using my normal moisturiser after a shower. Not that bothered about the scars TBH.

CatrinVennastin · 17/01/2024 11:06

Good morning small boobed friends!

so I saw Miss Hunter yesterday and oh my god she was amazing. I think I have found my surgeon. Totally comfortable with her.

she showed me before and after pics which were great. Said she can’t guarantee a cup size but what was I aiming for. I said C or D cup. (Christ an E cup would be better than the HH’s I have been lugging around for decades.)

we talked about the cup size/nipple trade off and I said I would still like my nipples to be able to nipple so if that meant a slightly larger cup then that would be fine.

as my job involves lifting (I do a lot of shop launch’s, refits etc so it involves lifting, up and down ladders etc) I would need to be careful and not lift for 6 weeks.

she is happy to provide sick notes to cover this for me. My plan is to talk to my very lovely boss and just be honest about what I am having done and why. I know a few colleagues too who are always after extra hours so I think I could get cover.

Timing wise she said she was happy with the support I have at home so her PA would send me an email with cost and available dates.

I am leaning towards the end of may as DH can take two weeks off work then and DD1 will be on study leave for her A levels and can walk the dog in the mornings for me.

I honestly can’t thank you lot enough as reading the thread has been so helpful.

CatrinVennastin · 17/01/2024 11:07

Sorry that was so long but I feel you lot require the full cup version 😂

Singletrackmind · 17/01/2024 11:24

@CatrinVennastin thar sounds brilliant! Very excited for you 😀
On cup size, yes, a good surgeon will not promise. I wanted my nipples to still ‘work’ 😁 to be smaller you do have to sacrifice that. Basically they monitor the blood flow as they remove tissue & stop when they think it’s right. I reckon I’ll finally settle around a DD/D cup in 32/34 band size ish. Weirdly band size can go up post op … I think that’s partly cause you aren’t relying on that tightness to hold you up anymore…
… and yes in the recovery time too … my job has lifting etc and although I was back in under 2 weeks, ideally I’d have had another one off. I did nothing upper body wise that wasn’t just day to day for at least 5 weeks.
Your plan sounds good 👍

Martinisarebetterdirty · 17/01/2024 14:18

@CatrinVennastin brilliant news! On the nipple front (and this is way tmi so apols) but I wanted mine to still nipple because they were great fun pre-op. They still do act like nipples in that I can see when I’m cold but they don’t feel like nipples, I know time will tell on this but they have very limited feeling now since my original op (1 August).
I had my dressings changed yesterday and had quite an out of bleeding, so retaped up and back early next week for assessment, apparently no sign of infection and just something to keep an eye on so all good in the main.

I use clarins moisture rich body lotion and silicon on my scars, they aren’t as good as @Madagascary ’s but I’m happy with them.

CatrinVennastin · 17/01/2024 17:13

I was washing bras earlier today as you do on your day off and my eldest daughter is a 32D and I realised that although I think of a D cup as big it's really not! Her pretty lace bras are half the size of mine.

The consultation has made me realise I want this done as soon as possible. If it wasn't for work projects I would be signing up for the next available date.

@Martinisarebetterdirty hope you are ok and thank you for the nipple news.

@Singletrackmind that is reassuring about the lifting. I am going to go for three weeks off completely then week four I will go back and if something needs lifting I will ask a nice young fit warehouse lad for his help.

CoolShoeshine · 17/01/2024 18:39

Gosh this is enlightening, I had no idea that if you went too small you would loose nipple ‘function’, that must be why my surgeon looked slightly alarmed when I asked for really small! However I bow to their superior knowledge as v tiny would have looked wrong on my generous frame. It still feels like my nipples are stuck on with sticky tape and might one day fall off though, let’s hope not 😂

Singletrackmind · 17/01/2024 19:16

@CatrinVennastin if you read any of the Facebook BR groups women are literally obsessed with Cup size. Never-mind how it changes with band size and varies like clothes sizing across all manufacturers. Also most women have the wrong size on … I’ve seen lots of ‘before’ pics in those
pages of women who say they were my ‘size’ but are MUCH bigger than I was & then say they had 1kg or more removed from each boob. At my bra size that would have been a mastectomy! Obv there are massive variations in density … but even so 🤷‍♀️ A ‘C cup’ at 34/32 band size is small!

Anyhow yes, get other people to do the lifting … I broke a load of ribs before the op so just hammed up that injury for a while longer as I hadn’t told people 😌

@Martinisarebetterdirty nipples yes, give it time I think… mine are defo not the same but have improved & also you’ve got the at bit of extra recovery first. Hope you are feeling ok.
