Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

I think the reason I'm indicated for the socks is because I'm on HRT. However, I lost a litre of blood in surgery which the surgeon seemed to suggest my blood was thin rather than thick.

I've washed the delightful objects and I'm just going to wear them at night now.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 09/09/2023 23:51

I wore mine for two weeks, admittedly not so hot as this though.
I’ve got a bit of red next to my nipple today so sent photos off and they think it’s a stitch coming to the surface. The smallest amount of blood and puss tonight from it, obviously these things happen over a weekend to cause maximum stress as you can’t get hold of anyone. I really thought all was good as I’ll be six weeks on Tuesday.

Notooserious · 10/09/2023 09:05

@Martinisarebetterdirty oh nightmare,
fingers crossed it all calms down and you can stop worrying - yes, it’s always just when you think it’s all fine!

Martinisarebetterdirty · 10/09/2023 09:53

I hope I’m overreacting and being a stress head @Notooserious, meant to fly to Asia with work next weekend but at least it’s happened now not whilst I’m mid air 😂
How did you sleep with the socks and heat @MorrisZapp ? And how is everyone else doing?

Singletrackmind · 10/09/2023 12:15

Hey @Martinisarebetterdirty that's an arse, but don't panic ... from what I've read it's not unusual and sounds like you are doing all the right things. I'm still full on with the taping! And flying to Asia .. phew, I'm feeling tired just thinking about that.

Alright here. I recall @Bigtitsbetty saying that she would have liked to have been smaller ideally and I have sense that's where I might end up as you will have probably gathered from my periodic fretting. That said they are so much better & lifted and it's early days. They still feel quite bruised, especially on the underside so I have to assume that's swelling that's still to resolve + my right boob felt super sore last night (it's the one that was most sore immediately after the op) but it's better this am.

And the heat seems to be lifting now .. phew!

Notooserious · 10/09/2023 18:55

@Singletrackmind I’m with you on the really wanting to be smaller than I ended up but you’ve still got a few weeks more for the swelling to go down - if defo took a full 8 weeks for mine to stop shrinking slowly. I’m a bit bummed about it so I know where you’re coming from.

Now fingers crossed losing weight will shrink them further - I have two stone to lose so I reckon at least a bit will come off them!

Singletrackmind · 10/09/2023 20:31

Thx @Notooserious I’m sure losing the weight will be a positive for you regardless & will be so much easier with less boobage 😁

I noticed a subtle but definite (positive) change in them tonight when I was doing my tape change. I had Lipo round the sides too & I think I’ve totally underestimated just how much healing is going on internally. Which sounds totally daft considering it’s major surgery… 🤦🏼‍♀️

Notooserious · 10/09/2023 21:04

@Singletrackmind I also totally blocked the major surgery thing from my consciousness in a “well it’s not like it’s abdominal surgery, he’s just chopping of a few extraneous bits of skin and tissue that I can’t wait to be rid of and would totally take a scalpel and duck tape to myself if anything happens to him before he operates” kind a way. I hated them so much that I literally didn’t see them as per of my body 😬

MorrisZapp · 11/09/2023 12:43

God I'm knackered. Mind you, popped a t-shirt on yesterday with no bra on and could not believe my eyes 😍

I've lost almost half a stone in six days. I know this isn't meaningful weight loss and is combo of boob weight, muscle tone loss and probably dehydration despite my best efforts. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Did anyone take any supplements, vitamins, medieval tonic drinks etc?? I'd happily drink a witches brew right now if it would perk me the heck up.

Boob wise, all good. Slight easing of swelling, no pain at all.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 11/09/2023 13:09

Good to hear from you Morris! I did, I took skinaid’s support pack for injectables (cost me 78 including postage), they do a pre and post surgery pack but it’s a lot more expensive and I couldn’t justify the cost and this has been recommended for post surgery too, all about reducing bruising and inflammation. I also took my normal multivitamins and liposomal vitamin c. My surgeon didn’t recommend any of this, he just said eat enough good quality protein, but I did my own research on cosmetic surgery and this was where I found the balance for me.
I’m not sure if it made much difference or not, I think what helped me recover the most was puking like the exorcist after the anaesthetic so it was out of my system 😂

Singletrackmind · 11/09/2023 13:13

Yay@MorrisZapp with the T-shirt 😃
Yeah I defo lost more than just boob weight … about 2kg down still 6 weeks on … as your muscle/ glycogen stores will be dumping out water with the inactivity. Stay hydrated 👍

Of course you are tired, take it very easy!!

Supplements … absolutely! Get the best quality you can. I’ve added in Tumeric for inflammation, collagen for rebuilding (if nothing else my nails are the best they have ever been!) Vit C for immunity/ repair & magnesium for old lady meno stuff/ helps with sleep. Vit E & probiotics also useful but I’d be rattling if I took anything else 😂

@Notooserious yes, totally with you on that!

MorrisZapp · 11/09/2023 13:34

Ooh yes I ordered the best magnesium available to humanity after a really bad sleep the other night, it arrives today 👍

Thanks so much for all the tips xx

Martinisarebetterdirty · 11/09/2023 13:36

Yes to collagen! I forgot that and magnesium as I take these routinely anyway (knee pain and sleep!)

Madagascary · 11/09/2023 14:26

I took no supplements or nothing

just bought the scar cream

Heartfullofcheese · 11/09/2023 21:04

I took nothing. Intended to but just didn’t.
Feel like I’ve turned a bit of a corner in that I’m not conscious of it so much suddenly. Just the odd twinge now. @MorrisZapp I couldn’t sleep for ages to the point I was worried I wouldn’t heal with no sleep. Couldn’t even nap. Back to my normal insomnia levels now ha ha. Magnesium good…

Sometimes I’m so glad I did it I could cry. I feel normal for the first time since my teens.

Madagascary · 11/09/2023 21:49

The feeling of being pleased the fact that you did it only increases overtime, oddly

Madagascary · 11/09/2023 21:49

10 months in every day, I look at them and feel 😄

Heartfullofcheese · 11/09/2023 21:57

Oh @Madagascary that’s lovely.

Bigtitsbetty · 12/09/2023 14:43

It’s my ‘boob birthday’ on Thursday. I can’t believe it’s a year! I found an old bra yesterday. It’s sOO big!

OP posts:
Heartfullofcheese · 13/09/2023 21:00

Happy boobday tomorrow @Bigtitsbetty
It has struck me today that my bras are now comfy things instead of scaffolding. Relief!
I’m just coming up for 6 weeks and I’m wondering if they will stay uneven now? I can live with it as it’s still an improvement- but I would prefer them to be a bit less cock-eyed.
@Martinisarebetterdirty hope your ooze has resolved! And @MorrisZapp hope you are doing well a week on!

Madagascary · 13/09/2023 21:21

Omg. Look what you started. Anybody else find they are reading a thread on here about big boobs and fit into clothes and you feel like shouting have a reduction?

Martinisarebetterdirty · 13/09/2023 21:40

Happy boobaversary @Bigtitsbetty !
And yes thank you@Heartfullofcheese the ooze has healed over nicely. As I understand it they can fluff up and settle over six months so they could well even out more.

Singletrackmind · 14/09/2023 06:42

A whole year @Bigtitsbetty amazing & thx again for the threads! @Martinisarebetterdirty good news on the ooze 😀
@Heartfullofcheese yes it takes time. Saw my surgeon yesterday & she said I’m still swollen & that with the swelling & internal stitching still holding me up (porn boobs 😂) that the ‘fluff & drop’ can take months to happen. The before & afters between 3 month & a year are noticeably different . It can take up to 12 months for it all to settle.

user80 · 15/09/2023 07:38

Happy boobiversary @Bigtitsbetty 🙌🏻
I was told they wouldn’t look how they’re going to look until 12 months too. I’m just over 3 months in now and still don’t feel like they look like boobs but I think it’s mostly in my head 🤷🏻‍♀️

Singletrackmind · 15/09/2023 10:13

Hey @user80 … hope you are well! Yes the brain really does need to adjust I think … it’s interesting. When you research this op there’s masses of info about the physical change & much less about the psychological impact. I think some people have an immediate euphoria that lasts/ carries them through. It’s definitely taking me time to adjust but I’m feeling more comfortable as time goes on.
