Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

@Burtiscute thank you for sharing as well as @Notooserious , I think both your experiences sound terrible and I’m glad you both seem to be on the mend. I agree with everyone it’s important to have lots of different perspectives and experiences, I don’t normally post so prolifically but found the first thread so useful that I’ve posted my own experiences, hopefully they help someone. If not at least it gives me a record.
@Heartfullofcheese I’m using the M and S flexi fit sports post surgery bras, front fastening still and slightly padded for coverage. Not perfect but better for my normal clothes than the surgical ones.

Heartfullofcheese · 06/09/2023 23:21

Thank you @Martinisarebetterdirty off to M and S at the weekend.

This thread has been such a source of support and has helped so much during my recovery.
I hope it will be as useful for others.

Singletrackmind · 07/09/2023 06:55

Good shout on those bras @Martinisarebetterdirty I need something else now too - thx!

Notooserious · 07/09/2023 08:41

I’m still wearing the compression bras, because they are so blooming comfy!!!! The surgeon just laughed at me when I told him, but they are great. Don’t even have to work out what cup size I am as they cover B-F 🤣 Since I’m now on the loosing weight journey (basically haven’t seen my stomach in ten years, so when I saw it I was like, holy cow, that’s gotta go!) it it v handy to have bras that will hopefully shrink with me :-)

Hope you are feeling better @MorrisZapp and @Burtiscute , you will get there!

user80 · 07/09/2023 10:15

Sorry to hear about your experiences @Burtiscute and @Notooserious , sounds pretty traumatic. Hope the recovery is smoother from now on.

Hang in there with the body dysmorphia @Singletrackmind - I’m with you but know my brain will adjust eventually.

I am wearing this one right now, very comfy and gives a better shape than the post-surgery bras (which I agree are super comfy!) https://www.marksandspencer.com/flexifit-non-wired-bralette/p/clp60529420?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

Yes, I used the Marks & Spencer mastectomy crop tops. I had a pale grey one I really liked because the band along the bottom is really thick

shithappensletsdance · 07/09/2023 11:56

Sorry if this has already been asked.
I had a breast reduction when I was 20 odd. I'm now 35 and considering another one. The boobs haven't grown anymore than when it was done, I am a 30 DD - from an original HH, I just prefer a smaller bust and would like to be a B/C. Has anyone had a second one and is it any worse or added complications? Is it worth it?
Thanks

Burtiscute · 08/09/2023 08:56

@shithappensletsdance hopefully someone will be able to answer, I've not read all the threads just this one and bits of the previous one and haven't seen it mentioned.

I know everyone is talking about summer/swim wear and that it's 30+ degrees in parts of the UK at the moment. But I'm so excited to actually be able to buy a coat this autumn and maybe it could be fitted or have buttons.

Heartfullofcheese · 08/09/2023 09:01

@shithappensletsdance I have no idea. But I do know that people do have repeat ops. There’s lots on TikTok so maybe have a hunt there.

@Madagascary
Love the look of that cami bra - does the band not roll up?
I’ve previously worn the flexifit bras and liked them too so I’m going to try that today.

Heartfullofcheese · 08/09/2023 09:02

@Burtiscute buttons on everything. Everything. I’ve never been able to wear buttons and I’m so excited about it!

user80 · 08/09/2023 10:58

Buttons, high necks and cosy fluffy jumpers (post heat wave 🥵) that no longer make us look enormous 🙌🏻

Singletrackmind · 08/09/2023 13:01

Buttons!!! 😀

@shithappensletsdance if you go to the Uk BR Facebook groups I mentioned up there somewhere in this thread you’ll find plenty of chat & experiences of people having second ops/ revisions etc

Madagascary · 08/09/2023 20:36

Omg. Look

i. Love. Sumner.

Fantastic, I'm envious.

Heartfullofcheese · 09/09/2023 07:21

Went bra shopping. Didn’t have to go to Bravissimo. Apparently if I so wish, I can buy a 3 pack of cotton bras in my size…for £20.
I got just one of the flexifit bras because I’m obviously still settling and changing. But it looks tiny and it fits. Anyone hesitating, I promise it’s worth it.

MorrisZapp · 09/09/2023 11:59

Summer you say!

I'm currently beached like a turtle on my back in nylon knee length compression socks that make me look like Beast out of the Ladybird Beauty and the Beast book, and there are hard ridges of dried blood crystallising under my dressings and nylon compression bra.

On the hottest day of the year 😭😭😭

Oh I could weep. God send me a sleeping pill that doesn't give me hallucinations, and make my arsehole teenager show the slightest bit of care.

But I know, I know, the prize is right around the corner. My silhouette has completely changed and I have beautiful, soft bras awaiting the arrival of my new assets just as soon as I'm human again.

The scales are showing a four pound weight loss and my family have been so kind.

I get my dressings changed next Wednesday and my dear dad is taking me, he is a legend.

Today I aim to do a small load of laundry, including my bra and socks. I'm getting a little bit braver every day, and yesterday I washed my hair.

My sister sent me a text and addressed me as 'Miss Wee Tits' 😂😂😂

There's a first time for everything 😁

user80 · 09/09/2023 12:06

Ah @MorrisZapp hot weather and an arsehole teenager do not make for a gentle recovery! Hang in there 💪🏻 Love your new nickname 😂

Singletrackmind · 09/09/2023 13:47

Nice work everyone !
@Madagascary looking the biz 😎
@Heartfullofcheese … I’ve ended up with those zip up soft tops from Sainsburys … they are a tenner FFS!! 😂
@MorrisZapp … get those socks off woman, I took them off immediately I got home … I think as long as you are mobile it’s a bit overkill though you may wish to ignore me as I am not a doctor … 😁

Heartfullofcheese · 09/09/2023 14:12

@MorrisZapp they let me take mine off when I left. I think unless you are particularly at risk it’s fine once you are moving around.
The Thea bamboo bras are nice for recovery - soft and not sweaty- can you lay your hands on one?
You are on the peak horrible bit btw. Much better after the first week! Less scabs and pain.

MorrisZapp · 09/09/2023 15:42

I've cheered up a bit 😘 got the house to myself and watching Calamity Jane!

Madagascary, giving me hope! ❤️❤️

Madagascary · 09/09/2023 17:30

Agree with single.

Come on Morris sort it out 😂

Madagascary · 09/09/2023 17:31

American breast reduction people seem obsessed with ICE for the area, but my surgeon looked nonplussed , and then said no, definitely not

Notooserious · 09/09/2023 20:20

I actually wore them for several days. In July.
