Hey! Bored and thought this could be fun. As I've said above I smoke cannabis daily, Have done for years. Only in the evening. I'm a mum and my DH does too. If anyone has any questions ask away :-)

Do you drive a vehicle in the road?

BSB30 · 03/05/2023 16:47

CarpeDiemCarpeDontem · 03/05/2023 16:44

Do all the people wishing to legalise it really not care about inflicting the smell on people? You might not mind it, but to me it’s the vilest smell ever and constantly ruins my enjoyment of the outside. I wish people would just make brownies or something so we don’t have to smell it 🥲 my bedroom gets to 32° in the summer and I can’t open the windows because of the smell!

Me too, actually makes me want to be sick. That's one of the reasons I hope it never becomes legal in the U.K.

SnoopyTwirl · 03/05/2023 16:48

@JaneyGee one million per cent this.
Why are people using the alcohol argument on this thread? The post is not about alcohol. It's about weed.
As someone whose family has been torn apart by this, I get so cross when people try and trivialise it. It is not a harmless drug. Not harmless for the user and not harmless for the children that are being stabbed and killed every day across England

And as for not minding if your children smoke it when they are older, that is so unbelievably irresponsible considering their developing brains.

I think it's not a great idea to fuel this poster's need for attention.

She's loving winding everyone up and being a 'rebel'.

Carry on OP but be aware that SS may get involved if other people know your kids are being brought up like this.

Neighbours, teachers, other parents- they will all either know now or find out.

This lol

BettyHumpter · 03/05/2023 16:49

And I smoked weed daily before I had a child. Then I stopped

takecareteddybear · 03/05/2023 16:54

I'm going to leave it here. Thanks for the questions, I've tried to be as honest as I can, I know it's a sensitive subject and a lot of people have strong feelings. Didn't mean to upset or wind anyone up! Take care everyone x

The children are inside the house, we are outside, nothing is kept in the house, never ever smoke around kids, I'm usually up in the morning for shower etc before they even wake up. Their clothes are wash and dried nowhere near it, in all the years we have school, friends, family not one person has mentioned a smell.

I will say, working in mental health the link between cannabis and psychosis is grossly exaggerated. I worked on an acute inpatient ward and we had very few patients whose illness was triggered by this.

I am not denying it doesn’t happen, but the link isn’t perfectly clear. However visit any psychiatric hospital or unit and they are bursting with patients whose illness is alcohol related. What we often find is patient will have experienced psychotic symptoms previously in their lives and smoking weed kicks it off or they try smoking weed to relieve symptoms (never works).

Alcohol ruins lives, not just the drinkers. I can’t tell you how many patients diagnosed with personality disorders have experienced severe traumatic abuse where alcohol was a factor (by the perpetrator) particularly for girls, but also see it in boys as well. Not too mention the violence and deaths caused from alcohol related violence on a daily basis.

I don’t smoke weed, as an ex service user I don’t drink or take drugs because I like to stay well. But I hate alcohol, I grew up in an alcoholic family. Morally you can’t criticize someone for smoking weed and not criticize alcohol based on simple numbers.

BettyHumpter · 03/05/2023 17:00

@lillkim500 it's a strange thing to take to Mumsnet and brag about though...

messysewingbox · 03/05/2023 14:57

I see it as a habit that would never cross my mind to start or continue, especially with a family, for various reasons.
If it weren't for all the other issues that go hand in hand with illegal drugs, I'd say it were similar to 2 parents who needed to drink a substantial amount of alcohol every evening.
I don't know enough about it. Do you get high every time you smoke it, or is it like alcohol that you need it to remain neutral, and without it you feel bad?

It is similar to alcohol in the sense that a little amount won’t have much effect so you can choose how much you take (same as saying I won’t have more than x glasses of wine).

Personally I get high every time (but then I can « feel » the effects of alcohol every time I drink so maybe I am not a reference). You get used to it though, so a regular smoker will need to smoke more to feel the high.

christmascalypso · 03/05/2023 16:05

Have you ever felt any paranoia? My friend used to be a regular smoker of cannabis and became totally paranoid about things. She died of lung cancer in her late 40's 😢 I can smell it a mile off if someone is smoking it. I hate to tell you but the smell will cling to your clothes. I can walk past someone not smoking and be able to tell they are a cannabis smoker. You have become 'nose-blind' and won't be able to smell it much. I've nothing against it personally but it so much stronger nowadays than in the past and I do think it is addictive even if just psychologically.

So sorry about your friend. My ex became increasingly paranoid smoking weed that I left in the night with a month old baby and never looked back. He then went on to become homeless because he thought the light bulbs and tv were monitoring him. He contacted our daughter once in her 29 years and was stoned then. He's now a shadow of the man he should be. Another one, my daughters neighbours smoked it outside their flat. Their poor kids stunk of it as did my daughters flat as it permeated everything. Even smoking it outside wafted over neighbours gardens. Its such a selfish disgusting habit and I'm sure you could think of many other victimless ways to relax in the evening.

I'm not sure i would class it as bragging.

goinginsaneinthemembrane · 03/05/2023 14:39

How old are your DC? Do you not worry that both if you and your DH are high, you can't drive in an emergency or won't be as responsive/responsible if something happened to your DC at night? Do you worry about the effect being high every night has on your children?

Or are they grown up/moved out?

What about parents who have a couple of glasses of wine every evening? You could say the same for them.

BettyHumpter · 03/05/2023 17:04

@bookworm44 definitely bragging

takecareteddybear · 03/05/2023 17:06

@BettyHumpter how am I bragging? Im just answering questions.

OP posts:
BettyHumpter · 03/05/2023 17:07

Questions that you have asked people to ask you.. because apparently being a mum who smokes weed every day is worthy of a AMA.

BlusteryLake · 03/05/2023 17:09

Would you be happy for your own children to be exploited in county lines supply chains when they're older? Because guaranteed someone's teenagers are being used somewhere along the line for you to get yours.

nakeklak · 03/05/2023 17:09

It's quite funny that people in this population think SS care about parents smoking weed

potniatheron · 03/05/2023 17:10

As a broader discussion point, I've never understood why people like @lillkim500 defend cannabis use by saying that alcohol does more damage.

I'm not being snobby or judgemental, I'm an alcoholic and addict in recovery (11 years and counting).

It's just an argument I see trotted out a lot and it's so stupid. We've already got one poisonous and damaging legal thing, so let's legalise and promote this othetr poisonous and damaging thing because we think it MIGHT be slightly less poisonous and damaging.

Total logical fail, could only come from a stoned brain and I speak from experience there!

Not having a go at you specifically @lillkim500 . L'il Kim (the real one) is an absolute queen btw and I love your username.

swayingpalmtree · 03/05/2023 17:12

hey OP, I used to smoke every evening like you- exact same scenario, did it at the bottom of the garden. No ill effects, both me and my partner have good jobs etc I really liked it- it relaxed me and I slept really well. I actually prefer it to alcohol because that always made me feel like crap but weed just relaxed me without all the poor quality sleep, slight headache the next day etc.. I stopped doing it about a year ago and really missed it for a while but I have found my running ability improved when I stopped. I do still enjoy the occasional one - wish it was legal here like it is in parts of the States. In my opinion, alcohol causes far more harm than weed.

shiningstar2 · 03/05/2023 17:16

How many points can you make from an eighth?

whynotwhatknot · 03/05/2023 17:16

the government are hypocrites want to to have it classed as a but have maassive shares in weed farms

enjoy it op ive seen results of people in pain using it and its a life saver

fatherfurlong · 03/05/2023 17:17

Well you said you were bored and thought it might be fun…….hope you’ve had some fun.
I do not feel as strongly as some of the other responders but two things….

Much has been written about how weed is much stronger now than it used to be years ago when many of today’s pensioners were smoking it.
Do you smoke anyway? Regardless of the potential dangers to your mental health you are damaging your lungs as much as if you were smoking ordinary cigarettes but hey ho you say you do yoga and possible eat vegan so maybe the effects are mitigated!

And you really are deluded if you think no one can smell it. Despite you living in a large detached house. I live in a large detached house too and I can smell my neighbours having a dooby down by their shed. You say no one has ever mentioned it - like your neighbours are going to tell you your home is ‘Dun Stonin’!

lillkim500 · 03/05/2023 17:19

I’m not defending it - merely pointing out the fact that you can’t be critical of one substance while remaining silent about another which causes much, much more amounts of damage. I understand why, because one is legal and culturally acceptable and one isn’t.

Like I say I’m drug and alcohol free, my view is society would be better free from all substances including alcohol. But I also live in the real world and people have choices.

Yes - she is a total queen!

Snoopyloopy25 · 03/05/2023 17:19

Yes where can I get some, even better solid, ive been on CBD for a while its perfectly legal and reduces my seazures from 3 or 4 a day to 3ish a week. But that relaxed feeling after a smoke

Strugglingtodomybest · 03/05/2023 17:22

Cherrysherbet · 03/05/2023 16:45

No matter what you think, you do smell of it.

I work in a supermarket and we can smell potheads who are in a different aisle! Often they are with children, and I feel so sorry for them. I always wonder if they realise that they stink, but you’ve just confirmed….obviously not!

I judge you I’m afraid. This is not something to be proud of.

How on earth will she stink of it? Seriously? She's smoking one joint, outside, in the evening. She then goes inside, takes her clothes off, goes to bed, wakes up, showers, puts clean clothes on. How on earth will she stink of weed?
