Hey! Bored and thought this could be fun. As I've said above I smoke cannabis daily, Have done for years. Only in the evening. I'm a mum and my DH does too. If anyone has any questions ask away :-)

I smoke weed and luckily in a country that has legalized it. Nobody bats an eyelid about people smoking it.

Lots of pearl clutching going on on this thread.

I don't agree with it for medicinal use either. You sound delightful.......

takecareteddybear · 03/05/2023 18:28

@Thesharkradar yes absolutely! Quite a few people have told me edibles are the way forward!! I exercise a lot and I do worry about the effect smoking has on my lungs! X

@Thesharkradar

I ate some hash cakes years ago at Reading Festival (1998 I think?). All i can say is never again 🤣🤣 - I was off my nut, it was trippy as anything. Mind you i did eat two cos my friend didn’t want hers … learnt the hard way.

it's very important to get the dose right, as you found out, as said I make my own oils and I'm very careful about the dose, if you have too much it can make you feel weird for too long

Yes although rarely now a days with wfh & when I am in the office I commute via train! Never drive after smoking.

Those parents would be alcoholics like these parents are drug addicts

Yes indeed

Embarrassing

Ooo the pearl clutching is on fire! 🔥

Smoking is unattractive and unhealthy so of course it’s going to be controversial.

If I came on here saying that I drink 2 litres of cider every night or have a fat McDonald’s every night some posters would also be opposed because it’s dirty and unhealthy (and ultimately will cost the NHS money because I’d likely get liver failure or obesity).

AMA are always controversial and they would be very boring if they were just about shopping at tesco or walking the dog.

Comments about ss really clearly demonstrate how naive people are about the state of children's services. The idea that they would be interested in an otherwise well cared for child, who parents were stoners, is laughable. You have absolutely no idea how bad things have to be before SS step in.
I was raised by pot heads. They were loving and kind. We got fed our tea about 6pm, but it was 70s vegetarian. Haha

Glad to hear you survived your childhood with 'stoner' parents!! 🤣

As a broader discussion point, I've never understood why people like @lillkim500 defend cannabis use by saying that alcohol does more damage.

I'm not being snobby or judgemental, I'm an alcoholic and addict in recovery (11 years and counting).

It's just an argument I see trotted out a lot and it's so stupid. We've already got one poisonous and damaging legal thing, so let's legalise and promote this othetr poisonous and damaging thing because we think it MIGHT be slightly less poisonous and damaging.

Total logical fail, could only come from a stoned brain and I speak from experience there!

Not having a go at you specifically @lillkim500 . L'il Kim (the real one) is an absolute queen btw and I love your username.

I think this point comes up because it is what some people they crave in situations where other might have a glass of wine to decompress.
Same reason for having it, similar effects. But alcohol is glorified (cheeky glass of vino / wine o’clock) whereas cannabis is demonized.
FWIW I think it should be legalized, taxed and controlled, same as alcohol or tobacco.

LovelyLovelyWarmCoffee · 03/05/2023 18:33

OP never said she was smoking until she was out of her socks daily though? You can have just 1-2 joints the same you have 1-2 drinks.

viques · 03/05/2023 18:38

You do realise that your kids teachers will be able to smell it on them. And yes, they will be judging you.

Did I stumble into a daily mail comment section? 😂

Yes, most people commenting seem to think I'm getting off my face every night. It really is very similar to just having a glass of wine, I'm not stumbling around I have 1 joint and relax for an hour or so when the kids are in bed.

NoItsNotAndNeverWillBe · 03/05/2023 18:46

They don't smell at all don't smoke in the house and it doesn't affect them at all so no I don't feel bad.

I know two people who smoke daily and who I have seen insist their kids or house doesn't smell of it because they smoke outside. They do smell of it, other parents have commented on it in the playground when they've walked past on a morning. It stinks.

I don't judge the people but they're in denial about their home and children not smelling of it, i don't even smoke the stuff at all and my own house smells if neighbours are smoking outside. When friend comes in from outside after having a joint she stinks of it and sits straight in her sofa that stinks too. It just does.

They can't and their not 🤣 what is it with all these people who think if you smoke week you reek of it 24/7 🤣 what about fresh out of the shower wearing clean clothes? Do I smell then?

how do you feel about people who are regular garlic users?
do you think I have a case for complaining to my neighbours who subject me (a vegetarian) to the daily smell of meat cooking?
what about daily users of cars who subject me to fumes?

But smoking everyday is really unhealthy, even if it’s just 1.

It adds up and leads to things like lung cancer and emphysema.

It’s not about being off your face.
It’s about the effect it has on your body and ultimately the NHS.

lillkim500 · 03/05/2023 18:55

NortieTortie · 03/05/2023 15:11

Are you concerned about SS?

Ok - comments like this are delusional. I’m a social worker, I only work with adults but my colleagues work with children.

Children’s services are not morons, that are completely capable of delineating between a well run household with well look after happy children where the parents smoke a bit of puff and the absolute horrors they have to deal with.

If you think even the police or childrens services would be at all interested you are unhinged. It is the all round wellbeing of the child in the home that is the addressed - not the moral habits of the parents. Are you aware there are many families where both parents can be IV heroin addicts who are unable to even look after themselves let alone children. Some poor kids have had to live in absolute squalor, without decent food let alone love - systematic abuse and degradation?

The levels of child abuse my colleagues see is obscene, some are affected by PTSD. Horrific sexual abuse where children are often passed round abusers, violence, exploitation you name it.

Children’s and family services are there to ensure the wellbeing of children not enforce somebody else’s moral judgements.

You could light up a spliff in front of most coppers and they want bat an eyelid, they are only interested in huge dealers and growers and gangs. Even most growers will only be fined if its a first offense. The amounts for the police to take an interest have to be huge, really huge.

I am not saying this is a good thing, just pointing out how incredibly out of touch you are.

BSB30 · 03/05/2023 18:55

@WingingItSince1973 I agree. We aren't allowed to have morals or standards anymore.

Do you keep all your kids school clothes ,coats, book bags etc in sealed bags in a shed in the garden? If not, they will smell. Ask any teacher who has taught kids whose parents smoke, even just tobacco, , the book bags and books often reek. I used to teach a dear little girl who was spotlessly clean, but her parents owned a chippy, they didn’t even live above the chippy but she was there for an hour before school every morning and everything she brought to school smelt of chip fat. Same with kids whose parents cook with spices, or who run a pub. It is amazing how some smells linger.

Except boys are not getting stabbed to death by dealing in alcohol 🤷‍♀️

They are by drinking it though.

Creditscoredrop · 03/05/2023 19:03

Some of these are precious... 😂Not everyone smoking a little bit of weed is feeding county lines and child trafficking... I know PLENTY of people who grow a bit/smoke a bit/sell a bit. No child trafficking involved. And what is with the assumption that people smoke in their houses?? Does anyone really these days? I wonder what type of responses 'I drink a bottle of prosecco a night because my 'middle class' life is soooo stressful AMA' would receive?

It's actually excellent for pain management, and although I agree can cause mental health issues for some this clearly isn't a blanket side effect. Speaking as somebody who doesn't smoke, but lived for a long time with a regular user for medicinal benefits, a lot of these assumptions and nasty comments are very naive. It's personal experience though I guess.

It’s not precious though is it? Cannabis IS illegal and it IS fuelling the county lines issues. Whether or not it should be legal is a different argument.
Currently, smoking weed, whether for pain management or for fun is illegal and it is fuelling drugs crime. I get fed up with people who smoke it thinking it’s all completely innocent and harmless, same with cocaine users. Tell that to people getting stabbed and shot over drug dealing, if you partake in illegal drug use you are fuelling drug dealing and all that goes with it. Just accept that and stop pretending otherwise as it really doesn’t help your argument. Such an entitled attitude that anything is ok as long as your hands aren’t getting dirty.
