Hey! Bored and thought this could be fun. As I've said above I smoke cannabis daily, Have done for years. Only in the evening. I'm a mum and my DH does too. If anyone has any questions ask away :-)

@Thesharkradar True but I don't agree with it for medicinal use either.

oh, do you not

BSB30 · 03/05/2023 18:11

As in for myself, it's not something I would choose for pain relief.

Why is this scenario any different to a parent who’s had a couple of glasses of wine?

Those parents would be alcoholics like these parents are drug addicts

Snoopyloopy25 · 03/05/2023 18:12

Drinking is very, very bad for, worse in fact than week it is addictive like opium, coffee tobacco, weed or solid is emotionally addictive but it's not going to hurt if you stop, it's a habit. My father wad an alcohol and I know lots of women who think of I have half a bottle a night it can't be bad or addictive but if it one glass or 3, or 2 fag or 40 you are addicted if you are in the zone of its time for wine or my 1 fag you are investing lots of time feeling a) guilty or b) uncomfortable. I know what I'm talking about I have to it's part of my job. Spirit drinkers who get carried away will advance alcoholism and will kill you quicker than wine, fags or cannabis

You've already said that an 8th is £30-50, how long does that last? (Genuinely clueless!)
I ask because you've likened it to drinking, and I was comparing costs. You said that you get nice stuff? I guess a nice bottle of wine might be around a tenner? A bottle a night would be 70 a week. Roughly 280 a month.
How does weed work out in comparison?

Thank you for reading!

A £40 bag can last up to 2 weeks. I'd say the maximum we have ever spend in a month is around £120 but on average it's probably around £80 a month. We aren't drinkers and only get a takeaway a couple times a year so I don't think it's too bad. If money ever became an issue for us it would be the first thing to go (for me at least at DH uses it for pain)

@MortalWomb4t I can only speak for myself but I don't know anyone who smokes it and I personally wouldn't have friends who did.

Never touched it or any drug in my life. Neither has my husband. Not everyone tries these things.

I completely disagree.

Smoking is awful for your health and has absolutely no benefits.

Whereas alcohol in small quantities does have benefits.

They say a glass of red wine or pint of Guinness a day does wonders for your health.

Whereas as inhaling any product whether its tobacco, weed or flour if you’re a baker everyday can impact your health massively.

In the UK people binge alcohol too much which is why it’s known to be more dangerous than cannabis but this is not the same in other countries who drink more responsibly.

Alcohol has no positive benefits whatsoever, it is not in any way beneficial - it is a toxin. Any purported benefits, ie red wine have been discredited due to the higher negative impacts on health that are not cancelled out. More information can be found on the study published in the Lancet here: https://www.npr.org/2018/08/24/641618937/no-amount-of-alcohol-is-good-for-your-health-global-study-claims

By all means drink, but don’t be deluded that it is at all beneficial to your health. Unless social lubrication is a benefit, in which case the same case can be made for other drugs.

No Amount Of Alcohol Is Good For Your Health, Global Study Says

While the study's authors acknowledge moderate drinking may protect some people against heart disease, these potential benefits do not outweigh the risks of cancer and other diseases.

As someone from a country where cannabis is widely legalised, I find some of the responses on here and the stigma fascinating. I don’t smoke myself (when I’m in the UK), but can pretty confidently say that I’ve seen far, far more destructive behaviour linked to drinking than I’ve ever seen with cannabis. I guess it’s just very cultural - alcohol is so pervasive and accepted here. But where I’m from, very successful professionals (and loving parents) would think nothing of smoking a joint at a dinner party but would probably judge someone getting intensely drunk. I’ve even seen a cannabis ‘bar’ at a very formal wedding. So some of the pearl clutching on here does make me smile. But I suppose it is still illegal in the UK.

I'm not op obvs but as a fellow cannabis user.....
I mostly make edibles from the cannabis that I buy, I'm very strict about the dose, an ounce of weed lasts me about 3 months, personally I dont drink because it doesnt agree with me

goinginsaneinthemembrane · 03/05/2023 18:18

@Chocolate376 What about parents who have a couple of glasses of wine every evening? You could say the same for them.

Yep I agree and I did say the same further on in the thread, feel exactly the same about drinking

Thesharkradar · 03/05/2023 18:19

takecareteddybear · 03/05/2023 18:15

Yes I do x

would you consider switching to edibles?
I've used it for decades, used to smoke it 30's and 40's then vaped in my 50's but I started to notice that my cardiovascular capacity was suffering (I run/bike/swim/lift weights-so typical lazy unmotivated stoner...NOT) I mostly use edibles now and my lungs are back to peak capacity (for an old girl😅)

I do too, for 2 reasons. One to shut adhd brain up for a while, and 2 to stimulate my very poor appetite as otherwise I don't feel hunger. County lines isn't the only way to access it.

I'm really of the mindset to legalise, regulate and tax it. Let people have their own couple of plants for personal use. Remove the criminality part. The government could raise a huge amount of revenue this way and there'd be far less demand via County lines.

Tend to agree with your last paragraph

MortalWomb4t · 03/05/2023 18:20

BSB30 · 03/05/2023 18:13

@MortalWomb4t I can only speak for myself but I don't know anyone who smokes it and I personally wouldn't have friends who did.

Never touched it or any drug in my life. Neither has my husband. Not everyone tries these things.

And that is totally your right as a fully functioning adult. However I'm unaware of any natural 'drug' with little side effects that can stop the seizures of young babies and children preventing them more 🧠 damage, however this 'nasty' plant can and does do exactly that.

So while people like you have the choice never to smoke it, or whatever, why does that then mean that the many benefits it does have should be denied to anyone because the government have increased it from a class c to be while the majority of the advanced world is moving with the times, cutting out the dodgy middle man, making taxes from it and regulating it. Would any of that directly affect you in any way? Probably not!

so because you dont personally want to use it you also want everyone else to not be allowed to?
WHY? why cant you live & let live?

BSB30 · 03/05/2023 18:23

@Thesharkradar People can do what they want if it doesn't affect other people. But usually, weed smokers do affect others.

Male101 · 03/05/2023 18:23

@takecareteddybear could you a simple question. Do you or your partner drive?

Diva66 · 03/05/2023 18:24

Smoking Is bad for you, try making hash brownies instead but keep them away from the kids.

emmylousings · 03/05/2023 18:25

Comments about ss really clearly demonstrate how naive people are about the state of children's services. The idea that they would be interested in an otherwise well cared for child, who parents were stoners, is laughable. You have absolutely no idea how bad things have to be before SS step in.
I was raised by pot heads. They were loving and kind. We got fed our tea about 6pm, but it was 70s vegetarian. Haha

@Thesharkradar

I ate some hash cakes years ago at Reading Festival (1998 I think?). All i can say is never again 🤣🤣 - I was off my nut, it was trippy as anything. Mind you i did eat two cos my friend didn’t want hers … learnt the hard way.

Unfortunately, that is the case with them not being bothered. It shouldn't be like that though if the children are being neglected.
