As per the title! I love my work and happy to answer any questions 😊

I am extremely chaotic in my space and work. Can hypnosis work? Also there are things I want to do that I don't. Probably a combo of procrastination, add (diagnosed), anxiety/perfectionist etc. Can hypnosis help me exercise more and consistently, eat better, relax more and more importantly draw often and better (I used to love drawing as a child. I can't now buy am well aware of an event that made me anxious to draw and later, a busy distracted life.
Also can hypnosis make me a less shouty mum. I grew up in a shouty household and when my kids are being challenging (2 and 5) I resort to shouting.
Is this too much to untangle 😀

Eyesopenwideawake · 15/03/2024 22:21

That's quite a list! But the thread that runs through it is wanting to slow down, be more aware, consistent and focused. And less shouty.

If it helps, think of your personal subconscious as a whole troop of Private Jones's in Dad's Army running in circles shouting "don't panic! DON'T PANIC!!" And getting nowhere.

What would be good to introduce is your own Sergeant Wilson saying "I say everyone, let's all calm down. We can do this as long as long as we work together." That's when mind, body, emotions and senses can align.

Does that make sense? (apologies if you're too young to remember Dad's Army!)

Am probably old enough to remember Dad's army butvI only moved to this country 5 years ago. It makes sense though. My brain is almost always hyper. It's hard to relax or slow down so you are right. Now I just have to find the tools and the consistency 😨

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/03/2024 10:25

@GingerScallop - apologies, I thought I'd replied again. Hypnosis may well be able to help with the procrastination, perfectionism and anxiety. As a result the other items on your list will be far easier to achieve.

Am probably very late to this but would hugely appreciate a list of London based practitioners to help get me off the vapes !

Eyesopenwideawake · 14/05/2024 13:15

Never too late @Billi80 ! Will send you the list - we all work both in person and via Zoom if that's more convenient.

Do you do menopausal work? And does it work?

Came across a podcast saying can help with hot flushes

Eyesopenwideawake · 08/06/2024 12:17

Yes and yes. The way you think about things such as menopause (or flying or dentists or any significant future event) can massively effect how you cope with it. If you dread it and simply don't want it to happen your subconscious mind will try to protect you by triggering fear or anxiety or even a physical response which prevents you doing that 'thing'. You can miss the flight or cancel the dental appointment but you can't swerve the menopause so learning how to think neutrally about it can really help with the symptoms.

As an example I sometimes get heartburn and, like most people, used to just reach for the Gaviscon. A couple of months ago I had it and asked my subconscious mind to stop the pain, because it wasn't 'useful' or necessary. It vanished immediately.

Thanks - interestingly symptoms are much better after engaging with practical things like diet and exercise (is some of it placebo?) but a lot of stress brings on hot flashes. I'm still working on some physical tricks for now and am also still dealing with a recent thyroid level slump, but have considered hypnotherapy.

Eyesopenwideawake · 09/06/2024 08:01

Stress is an interesting thing. It doesn't exist as an entity in it's own right but rather it's an emotional reaction to events or situations.

Thank you to Sarah who worked with me for 4 sessions plus an initial consultation. She is so friendly and has a way of putting people at ease, I was anxious to even go on zoom with a stranger and Sarah was very patient with me. She has a way of explaining the subconscious mind that makes complete sense to a novice and has great techniques and advice too.

Thanks again Sarah x

I'm late to this AMA, and sorry if someone has already asked this, but can hypnotherapy help with insomnia? The kind where you can fall asleep but wake after about 4 hours and just can't get back to sleep?

Eyesopenwideawake · 01/07/2024 21:35

Yes. Sometimes what can happen is that we got woken suddenly in the night and that set up a sensitivity to the slightest noise or motion (a cat jumping on the bed for example), the sort that previously our mind would have ignored as unimportant and safe to sleep though.

Another possibility is that the mind is so intent on solving problems when it should be resting, and it's waking you to consider all the possible options at that one stage of the 24 hours when you've got no chance of actually doing anything about it!

Either way remedial hypnosis/hypnotherapy can help reset the thought patterns so that you can sleep.

Hello thread. I posted elsewhere on MN a few weeks ago, feeling low, lost and, quite frankly, broken. This was the name change I used to create that one, desperate cry for help. I was feeling overweight, middle-aged and menopausal. @Eyesopenwideawake was on of the people who responded and offered support. Long story short, she took me on as a client. I've been on MN forever but this is the first time I've ever disclosed my real name to another poster, let alone met up with them online. It just felt right, and I'm glad I went with my gut on this.

I genuinely recommend getting in touch with @Eyesopenwideawake (and have recommended her to quite a few people IRL too). Our work has been truly transformative for me. For the first time in years I feel like me again and I've found my drive and direction. I'm focused on my health and career goals and can't believe the difference just a few short sessions has made. It feels like magic.

Thank you S, D x

Hi all. Just wanted to post an update for anyone interested. A very brave client allowed me to film her remedial hypnosis sessions and I've made a video of the highlights. If you'd like to see it please drop a 'please' (or similar!) on this thread.
