As per the title! I love my work and happy to answer any questions 😊

Is there any hope for a 13 year old with severe needle phobia due to previous trauma? It's stopping her accessing medical help and vaccinations.

Eyesopenwideawake · 11/05/2023 21:38

@Baileysoverice - I don't work with children but my colleague, Therese Langford of https://www.facebook.com/calmmindhypnotherapy specialises in helping children with mental health issues. Please do have a chat with her, she's lovely.

@Eyesopenwideawake I will keep a note of your recommendation thanks. The needle phobia is a small part of a massive problem 😳 which we are trying to unpick slowly. Your recommendation has been added to my list to explore very soon!

Hi OP! I was wondering whether this could be effective for health anxiety/emetophobia? I'm not sure what to call it. It started off as anxiety around vomiting (my children being sick mostly, as I was worried I would catch it), it then progressed to anything that could cause sickness (food, germs in the environment), it is now at a point where anything to do with illness whatsoever (usually connected to my children) initiates an incredibly strong flight response, & if bad enough can cause me to feel like I don't want to be around anymore. It manifests is extreme anxiety, constant symptom checking of my children (not so much of myself). I can't even stand verbalising or writing it down so this post was a challenge! It is really affecting my ability to parent.

Eyesopenwideawake · 16/05/2023 18:22

@southernbelles Yes. Like all phobias, emetophobia is an inappropriate fear response to a specific trigger, and, like all phobias, it's rooted in your subconscious mind - because logically and rationally you know it's not something you need to be afraid of. Your health anxiety is most likely connected so it would make sense to tackle both together.

Thank you. At the moment I feel like logically & rationally I don't actually know that I don't need to be afraid of it; I'm very afraid of where it takes me mentally, I'm afraid of the physical experience, & I think there's also an element of being afraid that 'this' illness (as in the situation in question at the time, whenever it happens), will be the one that doesn't go away. Probably stemming from my experience with a family member who seems to be permanently ill (also has health anxiety but for herself rather than others; she is constantly diagnosing herself with things, going to A&E, calling 111).

Did I see that you were offering Zoom consultations please?

Eyesopenwideawake · 16/05/2023 20:10

@southernbelles Yes - happy to DM you info. You CAN fix this.

I have horrible anxiety, worse now I'm going thru menopause but often wake in the night dreading something going wrong at work. Can hypnotherapy help? I gave up smoking with NLP. It worked instantly, and I actually loved smoking! But definitely wanted to stop. I'd be v grateful if you DM me the list of uk therapists. Thanks

Eyesopenwideawake · 17/05/2023 08:19

@strugglingteenmum - A lot of my colleagues work with menopause, we all work with anxiety! Will send you the list now 😊

Do you think hypnotherapy can treat someone who struggles with generalised anxiety? Or would you say it’s one specific thing at a time? For example, social anxiety or driving anxiety, both of which are becoming more problematic for me.

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/05/2023 16:11

@Peterbread - Over anxiety (of any description) always has an origin, often from childhood or school in the case of social anxiety. With the driving anxiety it could be linked to an incident that happened while you were driving; not necessarily anything major, just enough to make part of your subconscious decide that driving is something that should be avoided.

In any event anxiety normally responds well to remedial hypnosis, simply because your subconscious mind wants you to be happy and being anxious is not achieving that goal.

I would be really interested in a zoom session too, but i only use mn on my phone and i cant send or access private messages. Do you have any other way to contact you op?

ssd · 21/05/2023 22:51

I'm sorry @Eyesopenwideawake , you sent me a pm before and i can't access it. How frustrating! I can't figure out what to do to contact you.

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/05/2023 22:57

@ssd - this will probably get deleted but google 'outofchaostherapy'

You're tone policing my basic and innocuous questions about the therapy that you provide in order to avoid answering them.

You're also suggesting that my questions in some way indicate or affect my mood or mental health. That's unprofessional and I would hope you don't treat potential clients (who will likely have the same questions!) with the same suspicion and disdain.

I was simply interested in hypnosis as a taking therapy, and don't know anything about it. So I would very courteously like to know the below:

  • How does hypnosis work?
  • What's the evidence to support its therapeutic use?

Google?

Thank you

Hi eyesopenwideawake

Thank you for this very interesting thread.

I have a jumble of things going on with me, that seem like might be helped with the sort of therapy you’ve described.
If I made a list, would a therapist such as yourself be able to identify what’s going on, and ‘categorise’ my jumble so I have clarity and we can treat it?
Thank you!

Eyesopenwideawake · 22/05/2023 08:34

@WinterWanders - yes, it's good to know where to start so making a list is really helpful, not just for me but to make some sense in your own mind of the jumble. Then we can dive in!

I got in touch with OP after reading this thread. I decided to employ her to hypnotherapise me 😀and I have to say it has made a huge positive benefit to my life. If you read some of the threads I started a couple of months ago, I was in a very bad place anxiety wise, and now I feel "normal".

OP tackled my health anxiety with the hypnotherapy, but this has also had a positive impact on my general anxiety as well - as if everything has slotted into place. I was open minded when I came into it, but part of me thought it might not work. But it did. OP talked to my subconscious, and it responded through finger movements. My subconscious was a little bit stubborn to begin with, but OP manged to coax it out. It was also interesting that my subconscious wanted to talk about something else to begin with, and we tackled that issue first before talking about the issue I wanted to address - it was absolutely fascinating.

So, I am now medication free, sleeping well, participating fully in life (I had very much withdrawn before this) and have become much more productive (the anxiety I felt must have been stopping me from getting things done).

I have thanked her personally - but thank you again OP!
