Jeezo there's titles less than 4 generations ago in my family. I'd never think to mention it.

I think we're on the 7th generation since Queen Victoria roughly so if you're a direct descendent and you say your parents met the queen 50 years ago (but you didn't) then I'd guess you're of Prince Williams generation?

Queen Victoria had 9 children, 42 grandchildren, 87 g grandchildren, 142 g g grandchildren, 302 g g g grandchildren, 450 g g g g grandchildren, 88 g g g g g grandchildren - that takes us upto Prince George's generation.

So you're saying you're one of the 450?

Maybe I'm over invested Grin

A friend of mine is like 12th to the throne or something (never actually bothered to look it up properly and the latest additions to the family may have bumped her down a little).

I had no idea. Until she briefly mentioned a big party at the weekend. And there she was stood on the balcony with her family at buckingham place for her aunt's jubilee Grin

She was just the girl, from next door, I made friends with. She was no differant to the rest of us.

If your lineage was illegitimate and several generations back, why would we want to ask any questions?
It's hardly impressive when I'm sure your life is pretty average like everyone else's. It's not like you dine at the palace or have a fancy title or have a different life because of it

Zara is 17th now I think. I'd say most people would know she's part of the royal family though as she's in the press quite a lot.

@Notquiteagandt does your friend have a title? If not I can't see who she would be as I'm sure all of the other women in line are 'lady' or 'princess'. Have only looked up to 60th in line though.

@emmaliz I don't think that confirms anything, I have a few cousins once removed that call me aunt as well as my actual nephew.

If it's the queens actual niece then it's lady Sarah Chatto, I just find it hard to believe the pp wouldn't know she was part of the royal family if she's her friend considering she's titled and has been in the press.

@Imhertwopennyprince Yes Marina. I have met her younger sister Mel a few times too. But she is a bit younger than me. But both normal and perfectly lovely. Really into fashion. Hense the common interest & connection.

I do not really follow the royals though other than the main ones. And it is not really something that comes up in convo or is boasted about is it. So I was clueless.
