Totally off topic but Tunnocks related.

Sorry, I know this is off topic but thought some regular posters may be interested. I watched a YouTube video yesterday where one the vloggers took a Tunnocks teacake, put it in a brioche bun and squeezed so the teacake spread over the bun. He said it was really good so I think I’m gong to try it.
He previously did a kitkat sandwich in another video and said the Tunnocks in a bun was better!

I don't drink so I shall raise a Tunnock's Tea Cake to Dolly Parton this evening as I work my way through her albums and bawl my eyes out.

RIP Dolly.

Absolutely gutted about Dolly. I genuinely thought she would live for many more years. In fact, one of my favourite quotes of hers was when an interviewer asked her what she would want people to be saying about her in 100 years time, she replied with “boy, does she look good for her age”!!!
RIP Dolly.

I couldn't decide, I am not greedy though and have saved the Caramel log for later.

And does anyone have any ideas what a beetle with too much time on her hands could do with her collection of Caramel Wafer wrappers?

Christmas decorations. You could make a lovely garland and some baubles. Maybe a star for the top of the tree. Tunnocks bunting perhaps. A few fridge magnets as Christmas gifts. Or frame them in a kind of collage like they are now on the mat. Wallpaper the downstairs cloakroom? My friend did that with a few packs of cards when he was a student. Carefully reshape them so that they look “full” and play tricks on people you don’t like. A kite. A Tunnocks papier mache sailboat. A dress. So many possibilities for the crafty-minded.

Tunnocks is related to this board! The company is known for being gender-realists, and sent a big supply of their goodies to a women's meeting.

PS. Tunnocks caramels, if anyone wants to send me a lifetime supply!

That's almost worth starting a women's group for. If it was advertised as being supported by Tunnocks, I'm sure recruitment and attendance would be a breeze.

Or there are some "classic" Caramel Wafers wrappers on ebay. Maybe if you save yours for a few years, Boiledbeetle, you could make some money from them.

Love the comment from Fergus Loudon, sales director at Tunnocks!

Obviously I’m aware of the Tunnocks connection to the board, however, to try to prevent any “visitors” derailing the thread by asking what has this got to do with FWR, I thought I’d mention it in the title. And luckily, it seems to have worked!

I'm willing to sacrifice my waistline for the greater good of Mumsnet.

Bring tunnocks at once.

Tunnocks in space. (Now I keep hearing the muppets 'Pigs in Space')

Tunnock's Teacake in space

Glasgow scientists launch teacake into space

The confectionary went 21 miles up before landing in a tree in Galloway Forest Park.

I once made an Easter bonnet from creme egg wrappers for a school competition.

Maybe some nice baubles for a Christmas tree.

quantumbutterfly · 26/08/2026 13:46

All those shiny wrappers could make a useful heat shield to combat global warming. If every fwr home had a shiny roof it would certainly compensate for loss of albedo from melting icecaps. Pilots and Santa might find it all a bit challenging, but I gather Santa likes a bit of bling...& a mince pie.

There’s seemingly no end to the fun you can have with a Tunnock!

I wonder if they're interested in shares of the mumsnet, or if they already have some....

Went to Lidl to top up my fruit and veg. Came back with a punnet of blueberries, strawberries, nectarines, carrots, cucumbers...a 10 pack of Tunnocks teacakes and a pack of Caramel wafers!

I can get behind tea cakes and caramel wafers being reclassified as fruit and veg. Might finally manage five a day.

Heresy.

I've been cooling my tunnocks in the freezer lately (not a euphemism). Makes the chocolate nicely bitey & the mallow satisfyingly chewy.

Right, I’ve got my teacakes, how long do you recommend in the freezer for, please? I don’t want to end up with a trip to the dentist 😬
TIA

That all depends on your self control, they'll never be jawbreakers.
I read once that part of chocolates mouthfeel appeal is that it slightly cools as it melts in your mouth which I'm sure I've noticed with Lindt balls. ( after much experimental observation...with a representative sample size).

Definitely do not try this with lint balls.

lcakethereforeIam · 26/08/2026 23:11

M&S are, apparently, selling candy floss grapes!

RandomMess · 27/08/2026 07:30

Well I just had to go buy a pack of dark tunnock tea cakes and yes I confirm they are delicious frozen.

I am a little concerned as to why they don’t actually properly freeze though, perhaps an hour or so wasn’t sufficient 🤭

RandomMess · 27/08/2026 07:32

@EyesOpeningthe longest managed to wait was 2 hours (they were pre-chilled in the fridge) and they were not hard IYKWIM.

Loved both wafers and marshmallows pre gluten free days
