Sorry, I know this is off topic but thought some regular posters may be interested. I watched a YouTube video yesterday where one the vloggers took a Tunnocks teacake, put it in a brioche bun and squeezed so the teacake spread over the bun. He said it was really good so I think I’m gong to try it.
He previously did a kitkat sandwich in another video and said the Tunnocks in a bun was better!

Haven’t RTFT but earlier this year I got a Tunnocks embroidered bag from Uniqlo and suddenly it’s occurred to me that this could be seen as a subtle signaling of my views. I didn’t do it deliberately but I love the inadvertent symbolism 😀

Sadly, since I live on the other side of the world the chances of anyone seeing my bag an drawing that conclusion are wafer thin but still…

Ouch! That pun was painful.

I can confirm the jazzies are nice but a very different type of marshmallow.

Messedupmyusernameagain · 25/08/2026 17:52

Is it like a marshmallow dpped in white chocolate with a jazzies stuck to either side?

Look, this is terrible. I'm doing Slimming Word (there's a forum on MN for it - I never look) and tunnocks are not on any healthy extra or free food lists. How am I supposed to manage? They sell them in the supermarket near me and now I am wondering if they work in croissants. Argggh!

I believe it works like this, get two Tunnocks out, this is important, fully intending to eat both then put one back and only eat the other one. Your forbearance cancels the calories.

Alternatively, eat Tunnocks with someone else. If they eat more of them than you, your calories don't count. The hard bit is finding someone who's prepared to out munch you. I'm thinking Boiled.

I do have to admit that the caramel wafers are my favourite too but I like all of their products. Maybe I should try the wafer in a brioche bun…

Just one side and not a huge number. Not gooey marshmallow.

I was afraid this was going to be something awful related to Tunnock’s as a company. Very relieved to see it’s a recipe thread!

I'm willing to sacrifice my waistline for the greater good of Mumsnet.

Don't suppose you'd be interested in a swap? A very nice chutney, that goes well with Tunnock's, I checked, for your lovely chocolately stuff (which admittedly would go even better with Tunnock's).

Plenty of Tunnocks in Tesco today.
I may have eaten three..

Boiledbeetle · 25/08/2026 19:59

I don't drink so I shall raise a Tunnock's Tea Cake to Dolly Parton this evening as I work my way through her albums and bawl my eyes out.

RIP Dolly.

@Boiledbeetleomg that chutney would be amazing with my M&S date, plum and hazelnut biscuits and Wensleydale cheese.
We bought brioche rolls from M&S. Should I lightly toast the brioche bun? I don’t want to panini press it first off. I think lightly toasted might be the way forward.

And I would swap. Because, CHEESE.

I'd go for lightly toasted to start.

The chutney is amazing. I can't stop eating it.

I’m explaining to DS that he’s got to try various ways in the name of science. This might be a good snack although UPF which we try to avoid as much as possible. They’d look nice with a birthday candle stuck in for that special celebratory experience. Maybe at Christmas some melted chocolate hazelnut spread drizzled on top with some festive coloured sprinkles.

I couldn't decide, I am not greedy though and have saved the Caramel log for later.

And does anyone have any ideas what a beetle with too much time on her hands could do with her collection of Caramel Wafer wrappers?

Tunnocks teacake, remove all foil and smash onto a raisin bread or similar. Toast under grill or with a layer of oven proof paper on the top. Add a knob of butter x

A version if tiramasu? Sweet moussaka ?

Igneococcus · 25/08/2026 21:19

I didn't know Bonne Maman makes chutney too. They could do a chutney advent calendar like the jam one. I'd like that.
