Peter Tatchell Again. More blaming women for male violence

Man found guilty of murdering #trans woman Naomi Hersi. She's the latest of many trans people murdered. Yet some critics of the #GRA reforms portray all trans women as potential rapists & killers. Vile anti-trans BIGOTRY! t.co/KrH5aFUPZ3

The comments are telling him how it is though.Smile

FelineChapo · 28/10/2018 10:10

The responses below the tweet are very heartening.

BlardyBlar · 28/10/2018 10:10

It is indeed sickening.

MrGHardy · 28/10/2018 10:13

" She's the latest of many trans people murdered."

Really? In the last decade more trans people committed murder than have been murdered.

"portray all trans women as potential rapists & killers"

Really? I haven't seen any of that.

I guess when your ideology is based on lies, straw man arguments is all one has.

ChattyLion · 28/10/2018 10:21

Sad It does start to seem like Peter Tatchell believes that only some women deserve safety from male violence and the right to have free speech.

As horrible as any murder is, I wish Peter Tatchell’s sympathy for the victim would be used together his influence and impressive campaigning power, to be an ally to women and in speaking out against male violence.
Male violence killed Naomi Hersi.

Instead of naming the problem Peter Tatchell’s aligning with a misogynistic dogma and being selective about his support of free speech which is very sad to see him do.

That twitter thread is well worth reading. Thanks for posting it.

littlbrowndog · 28/10/2018 10:33

Jeez what an idiot he is
Seems he doesn’t give two flying fucks about the women killed every week by men
Feck they are just ordinary women. Not stunning and brave and also dead killed by violen5 men

VickyEadie · 28/10/2018 10:56

Good to see Tatchell well and truly handed his arse on a plate there.

Floisme · 28/10/2018 11:05

I can remember punks and goths being attacked in the street just for how they looked so I can well imagine trans women being at high from male violence. What I don’t understand is why Tatchell thinks feminists are responsible for what men do - although I’m sure The Bewilderness’s rules of mysoginy covered it. And I don’t remember punks and goths ever expecting women to protect them.

Floisme · 28/10/2018 11:06

sorry - at risk from male violence, not at high.

AnyFucker · 28/10/2018 11:06

That tweet is so utterly stupid from such an educated man, one would think his account has been hacked.

LangCleg · 28/10/2018 11:07

Dear Peter

Fuck the fuck off to the far side of fuck and when you get there, fuck off some more.

I can't even be arsed to be polite about it.

Lang

I have no time whatsoever for Peter Tatchell and his views.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 28/10/2018 11:38

His tweet makes absolutely no sense.

Relaxing the GRA would not have saved Naomi Hersi. Women's and girls need for sex segregation did not led to Hersi death.

It's almost as if Peter tatchel doesn't understand women's concerns about male bodies in female spaces.

And I agree thebewilderness rules of misogyny apply here.

NoodleEatingPoodle · 28/10/2018 12:54

One reply used the hash tag #sowokesobloke. That one really needs to catch on!

merrymouse · 28/10/2018 13:36

The circumstances of this murder are quite specific and don’t have anything to do with the reasons that women sometimes need access to spaces that exclude men.

Halfeatentoast · 28/10/2018 13:54

I KNEW when I saw this on the news it would be twisted into a point scoring exercise against women!

wingwarbler · 28/10/2018 14:05

This is Peter Tatchell who wrote that letter to the Guardian defending a paedophile book because he said it should be published as free speech, and that 9 year olds could enjoy sex with adults without being harmed.

I find it quite telling what these men choose to defend. Like Fae/ Ozimec defending the decapitation porn stalker of Girls Aloud.

And factually, as free speech, any man IS a potential rapist. Just as anyone, male or female, has the potential to kill (even if in war or as self defence).

The fact that so many men take that potential and ARE violent, and sexually violent, is what we need to be talking about.

And I am starting to think that some men only support free speech because of it's ability to obscure and derail FACTS.

StarsAndWater · 28/10/2018 14:41

Tatchell was also the one who called transphobia when a doctor asked for a medical history including any medication they were taking from a trans man who'd broken their arm.
I lost any respect I had left for him at that point.

HamiltonCork · 28/10/2018 15:15

Tatchell has turned out be quite the misogynist.

OrchidInTheSun · 28/10/2018 15:17

Tatchell was always a massive misogynist. Just no one really noticed before

Peakpants · 28/10/2018 15:33

I thought Pete was in favour of free speech? I mean it was only 3 years or so ago that he himself fell victim to the vitriol of the no-platforming gang because he dared to say trans ideology could be debated. Why the extreme change in heart PT?

HamiltonCork · 28/10/2018 15:47

Maybe he thinks free speech is only for men?

OrchidInTheSun · 28/10/2018 15:55

I think you're right Hamilton. He certainly didn't rush to Bindel's defence when he found out he replaced her on the 'free speech' panel at the Roundhouse

hackmum · 28/10/2018 16:10

I’ve never liked him since he wrote this nasty little piece 10 years ago. What he wrote about Georgina Baillie was vile. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2008/oct/30/russell-brand-jonathan-ross
