Man found guilty of murdering #trans woman Naomi Hersi. She's the latest of many trans people murdered. Yet some critics of the #GRA reforms portray all trans women as potential rapists & killers. Vile anti-trans BIGOTRY! t.co/KrH5aFUPZ3

Go Janice!

littlbrowndog · 08/11/2018 23:01

Tatchell said that some of his friends had sex with children aged 9-13 years old
None felt they were abused and got great joy

9 years old.

9 years old

littlbrowndog · 08/11/2018 23:03

Coorection some of his friends had sex with adults when they were 9-13 years old

AspieAndProud · 08/11/2018 23:52

It’s an open secret that some gay men eroticise the young. There’s a subplot in Cucumber where the lead character starts up a website so gay men can pay to watch (straight) schoolboys snogging.

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 09/11/2018 00:16

Things are going downhill fast for him on Twitter.

SunsetBeetch · 09/11/2018 06:46

So he comes out with another gem

"During campaigns to defend victimised UK black & Asian women, organised by groups like Southall Black Sisters, only a handful of feminist groups & white feminists have participated. Few UK feminists have joined rallies in solidarity with women in Syria, Iran & Saudi. Why?"

It looks as if he's busy copying and pasting that same reply to quite a few of the women who've taken him to task. Not sure if he genuinely thinks it's a gotcha, if he needs to put every woman who replies to him in her place, or if just has no argument.
Guessing it's a combination of all three.

Tatchell is a perfect example of a left wing man who's very vocal about supporting women's rights... until women say something he doesn't like. And then those unpleasant women just don't understand why he's right about women so he needs to put them right. For the benefit of women, of course.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/11/2018 08:36

Wow, that twitter thread!

LangCleg · 09/11/2018 08:46

Fuck off, Peter.

And that's all I have to say about that. All I need to say too, since Julie Bindel is magnificent.

Dragon3 · 09/11/2018 10:01

That latest tweet: why is this any of his business?

Floisme · 09/11/2018 10:07

I predict he'll have an article in the Guardian within a week.
Men will close ranks.

LangCleg · 09/11/2018 18:42

Thought it might be timely to remind everyone of Miranda Yardley's analysis of a speech Peter made in 2017 at a Mermaids fundraiser:

Mumfun · 09/11/2018 19:58

Hes a snake!

Thanks for posting Lang!

VickyEadie · 09/11/2018 20:14

I love the bit where Tatchell is challenged as to why he didn't publicly call out the violence against women - he claims he did, it's pointed out that his timeline shows no such things and then he claims he did it in "emails"...

BirdseyeFrozen · 09/11/2018 20:54

Great piece by Miranda Yardley, thanks Lang Cleg

Which brings me onto:

Yes, it's great to see Miranda's work. Shame about twitter Sad

I have never been in awe of Tatchel. Interesting use of companies; seems to be a lot of that around.

TheCountryGirl · 09/11/2018 21:38

Julie is brilliant and I'm awestruck!!😀😀😀 Julie if you're reading I can't thank you enough for all you do for women and girls....You have the courage of a lioness.

TheCountryGirl · 09/11/2018 21:39

I never liked Tatchell..I always had the spidey senses thing that the women on the Relationships board tall about.

TheCountryGirl · 09/11/2018 21:40

Ah, but it's so much worse that a poor transwoman got murdered! Obviously not her fault - unlike all the women who get killed.

Shame on you Peter Tatchell.

VickyEadie · 10/11/2018 16:55

That Mail article is very illuminating indeed. Tatchell says:

"Empathise with victims of child sex abuse and agree for the vast majority of children, sex with adults is neither wanted nor joyful."

Once again - for the vast majority of children...

FrumpyTrumpy · 10/11/2018 17:12

I read this quite a while ago and some other stuff on his website. I think he was defending "teen prostitution" though I can't find the article now. I did search www.petertatchell.net/?s=age+of+consent

Which I think is quite interesting in itself. He seems to have written quite a bit on why it should be lowered. I don't see hoards of children asking for the age to be lowered interestingly enough though. I don't have any issue with tiered consent in general for under 16s. I don't want a 14 year old to go to jail for sex with another 14 year old. But it's always an after thought in his writing, after Tatchell gets pulled up on it. If you read between the not very subtle lines, he thinks sex with preteens is fine.

Under the “abuse of trust” clause, consenting sexual relations are illegal if they take place between a person under 18 and an adult in a position of authority over them. The adult can be punished with up to five years jail. In other words, teachers, social workers, nurses, prison officers, youth counsellors and others caring for young people will be committing a serious criminal offence if they have a consensual relationship with a person under 18 in their care.

While we all want to protect young people against abuse, this is not the way to go about it. The abuse of trust legislation is a step too far. It strays from protection to persecution.

FrumpyTrumpy · 10/11/2018 17:14

In a recent example of this type of prosecution, Donna Allen was imprisoned for two years. At the age of 18, she’d had sex with her 13 year old her girlfriend. It was accepted in court that the young girl was a willing party to the sexual activities, which occurred in the context of a year-long relationship. On appeal last November, the sentence was reduced to l5 months.

This case he mentions isn't even about two underage children. It's a barely teen an adult woman.

FrumpyTrumpy · 10/11/2018 17:15

It's amazing he is so comfortable with these views but thinks women should be ashamed and silenced for thinking women have vaginas.
