Radio Times Ambridge Diary 22nd - 25th March 2021
Susan has been on the back foot ever since that damaging interview with her and husband Neil was published, so it’s no wonder that she’s now determined to prove herself to Lynda. But expect comical results as a quest for perfection finds Susan enlisting the help of Shula.
Speaking of the Carter clan, we also get Neil taking the lead for his final outing as chair of the parish council. But as the members debate the candidates who could replace him, Jim is left with a problem on his hands.
Meanwhile, some unexpected news leaves Alice fearful as regards the future, but despite Chris’s efforts to stay optimistic, reality soon sets in …

#####################################################################

We get the doctor again, and reality biting for Alice and Chris, but also surprising news for them; I suspect Martha is going home on Wednesday.

Thank you for the lovely new spoiler thread, GaspOde and thank you Asking for the spoilers. The threat of "comical results" is sufficient to persuade me to listen on catch-up so I can fast forward if necessary.

I am in a "once every 4-5 years" council election city, but can anybody remember when Emma was elected to the Parish Council? Surely the party with the most votes/seats choses the leader?

Apart from Neil, are they all standing for (re)election on 6 May?

It's about time Martha was back home with Alice & Chris. I've been puzzling why she has been in an incubator for so long given the size of her lungs and ability to feed independently.

Thanks Gaspode for the new thread and Asking for furnishing the spoilers Grin.

Maybe the hospital is waiting for results of Martha's more detailed tests.

Parish councils/town councils are often apolitical. So the chair is chosen by a vote of all councillors.
And I'm not sure which cycle they are on for elections, although with last years being postponed there is a 50:50 chance it should be this year. But they are often not actually held as the councillors stand unopposed.

Report
ppeatfruit · 22/03/2021 09:01

How sensible to be apolitical it's about time our ridiculous national govt. was run like that.

The scene with Ben and his brother taking the pee out of him was not well written or acted, the forced laughter seemed to be asking too much of the young actor.

And more has come in:

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 22nd - 25th March 2021
It’s never a good moment when Kate, with her enormous feet, decides to step in. During lockdown, Kate has had her own rewilding project on the go and, what with the straggly locks, mono-eyebrow, and weird clothes, presents a fearsome prospect. She’s also, alarmingly, boiling over with big ideas, and offers to pitch in with Phoebe on the Ambridge rewilding project.
Susan roams free through Ambridge in her quest to win Lynda’s approval, while her husband is released from the yoke of chairing the parish council. Meanwhile, Alice and Chris come under a shadow of fear cast by unexpected news, things go awry at the dairy, and a situation gets way out of hand for another Ambridger.

Poor Phoebe faced with earth mother Kate and her wacky ideas, she'll need all her imperfect people skills to cope.

Silly me Blush I'd forgotten that Kate IS Feeb's errant mother, well it has been a long time since they were on TA in the same scene.

The misery with Alice and Chris and sprog is getting too much now IMO There's enough of it in RL thanks.

BBC One-Liners

31 Mar Ben has romance in mind and Lynda goes into battle.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 29th March - 1st April 2021
The modern slavery storyline comes to a head as Philip and Gavin stand up in court to face the consequences of their actions. Equal focus will be given, of course, to Kirsty, waiting anxiously at home and getting support from Roy, who reveals a secret of his own. But what will the outcome be for the Mosses when the verdict is passed?
Alice finds life as a new mum challenging but is bolstered by wise words from Harrison. Lynda compromises with Eddie, but the talks take an unexpected turn when the truth about the Darrington Mystery Plays emerges. The stage is set for a showdown between Lynda and her nemesis, Evangeline.

##############################################################################

Silly hyperbole: Evangeline is not Lynda's nemesis. They may be about to disagree about something, but the idea that someone in the next-village-but-one on the Felpersham road has been hunting Lynda down all her life to force Lynda to expiate some mortal sin is absurd.

So is the speed with which the Moss case has come to court, but if that means the end of that dreary and overdone guilt-trip for the listeners I can't say I am sorry.

And a late addition:

###########################################

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 29th March - 1st April 2021
Jim and Jazzer struggle to buy birthday presents for Jade. Tracy, rather nobly, comes to the rescue, but Tracy’s taste, as we know, can be on the bold side.
Meanwhile, Emma tries to bond with Alice by suggesting a shopping trip. Where can these hopeful shoppers possibly go? They could browse the biscuit selection at The Village Shop, wander round the cheese display at Bridge Farm, or see if the Grundys are flogging off dodgy gear from a shed - or does Borsetshire continue to enjoy the Covid-light conditions denied the rest of us?
Meanwhile, Lynda discovers a shocking truth about the Darrington Mystery Plays, while Philip,Gavin and Kirsty appear in court to face the consequences of Mr Moss’s dark deeds.

I'm looking forward to Emmur'n'Alish wandering round the shops given that only supermarkets and essential shops are open. Wonder what they might plonk in the trolley...

It won't be the water in Majorca to be sure.

No, Ping was Sally Hawkins at first and then Barunka O'Shaughnessy.

I always feel a little connection with ST for the totally ridiculous reason that her father and my FIL were colleagues, decades before I ever met FIL. Blush
