I want a new, less squishy mat but the problem is my huge rug is very bobbly. Does that mean I can’t have a 4mm mat like lifeform etc? What do you think @Sooverthemill as I know you’ve just bought a new mat yourself

Have done something to my hand - must have knocked it - it’s so painful. So I’m having a few days off but giving myself until Monday.

Sooverthemill · 03/02/2023 17:09

@happytobemrsg my liforme is 4 mm thick but very solid. If you went thicker I think it would be too squishy

What exercise is everyone doing alongside the yoga? Before YWA I didn’t exercise at all so right now this is all I do.

I'm mostly a runner but use yoga for stretching out. I also dabble in open water swimming, but only once a week at the moment. My goal is to do a sprint triathlon this year.

Weepingwillows12 · 03/02/2023 19:42

I had a couple of days off after centre but did centre day 3 tonight. Going to carry on from there hopefully daily but not bothered if I miss the odd day.

Chimna · 03/02/2023 19:58

Day 3 done. That one wasn't too bad I thought, certainly challenging but not too long.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/02/2023 20:03

Centre day 2 done. Thanks for the plank to down dog tips - I have been using them and think I must have been doing it wrong for the last ten years!

Just the yoga.
I like to try and do things that are sustainable in my life. And yoga is more about the mental health benefits than physical right now. But I do
like it when I ache the next day!

Just yoga for me. I do a lot of gardening which I thought was keeping me fit but actually I was developing a lot of aches and pains particularly in my back. That was the reason I started 30 days of yoga last year. I have to say it’s helped.

Chimna · 03/02/2023 22:17

Just yoga here too. Other than the odd bit of walking and chasing after my two DC.

VerbenaView · 03/02/2023 23:38

D3 Center - very shaky legs, especially on the second leg, but I found it easier than last month.

This daily yoga is my only exercise, and it's only been for the past month. I've been looking with interest at the suggestions given on the 80% of women unfit and 50+ exercise threads and I am planning to add in some other exercise from March. This month, I have given up sugar and continuing the daily yoga.

Yogachick · 04/02/2023 05:52

@happytobemrsg i too have Liforme and love it. I have a core pilates mat which I use outside in the summer, which is super thick, but I find it much too wobbly generally, not just for balancing even eg warrior. Nice on the old knees though

Yogachick · 04/02/2023 05:58

I’m trying to be consistent with daily yoga, walking a mile or so a day,now adding 2 strength type workouts a week. I have chronic conditions so have to manage exercise & energy carefully, I’m trying to do some of each of the recommended for your old age type stuff through the week. I’m 57

SunUpSunDown · 04/02/2023 06:56

Well, my shoulder is a bit better, so I tentatively did Day 29. I've realised that when I concentrate on my centre, it actually takes the pressure out of the rest of my joints...key for me given my hyper-hyper mobility. I think I'll redo Centre after this, and then go back to Move.

Yogachick · 04/02/2023 06:57

I did Day 3 yesterday ,forgot to post. Day 4 of Move today. So perfect I almost cried, a miracle with my stone cold feeling repressed heart. Glorious

ScottishBeth · 04/02/2023 07:07

Oh @yogachick That made me laugh! I'm not sure what to do with it, but looking forward to day 4 now.

I did day 3 last night, I enjoyed it a lot. I love warrior sequences. I do find coming up to crescent lunge I'm often wobbly. And side planks are still a challenge. I find them quite easy if I do the kickstand with my top leg, but utterly impossible without that. Think I'll just continue with the kickstand really focusing on engaging my core throughout. Hopefully will get stronger in time.

ScottishBeth · 04/02/2023 07:09

@SunUpSunDown that's good about your shoulder. Hope it continues to feel better.

I felt strangely emotional at the end of today's practice, I did my own thing, and the time dragged. A couple of times, when I peeked at Adriene, we were doing the same thing which gave me confidence. I am very proud to have done 30 days. No exercise for over 10 years, to 30 days of yoga. Exactly what I needed and I'm so looking forward to continuing.

Congratulations everyone! Proud of everyone that achieved this. I felt the same as you on day 30, unexpectedly emotional and pleased that when I looked up I was 'copying' Adriene.
I've done Move a couple of time so decided to do the Feb 23 playlist, it's strange jumping back into her random shuffle of yoga but i have a crazy month ahead so think some shorter sessions will benefit. I also looked back at some of her older 30 day programs but most workouts seem to be 40 minutes or so which i just can't squeeze in

Thank you 😊

Weepingwillows12 · 04/02/2023 09:22

Got a really busy day today so I snuck in a quick 18 min movement practise today. Back to day 4 tomorrow.

I don't do any other exercise except walking. Been looking at swimming but honestly not sure where to fit it in. I think I am meant to do more strength and cardio in my 40s so might look at classes. My work used to have a gym so could go on lunch but it closed a few years ago.

melonraspberry · 04/02/2023 09:32

I do yoga and walk but planning to return to swimming this week, with a view to maybe doing some swim trek holidays when I’m an empty nester.
does yoga count as strength training.
I’ve also mulled over getting a rower to cover the getting older/strength training thing, but I don’t have much space, it’d have to replace the dogs bed in the study !

happytobemrsg · 04/02/2023 09:35

Thanks for answering everyone. It looks like most people do other exercise alongside yoga. Move has been extremely tough on my body so far (I’m finding I’m aching much more the next day). But I know I do want to add cardio somehow.

ScottishBeth · 04/02/2023 09:41

@melonraspberry I think yoga must count as strength training, obviously depending on what you do specifically.

I found this study which broadly supports that I think.

hoochyhag · 04/02/2023 11:29

Day 4 of move. Phew. Don't think I could keep this up without you lot.

Now rewarding myself with cocoa with marshmallows on the top I am not a healthy person

No exercise here apart from dog walking.

But interesting study @ScottishBeth thank you.

Hope the hand is better soon @BestIsWest

Sooverthemill · 04/02/2023 13:04

I didn't do any yoga today ( just a very tough night with DD) but @happytobemrsg i don't do anything else except running upstairs to DD hundreds of times a day! I know I should but I can't fit it in.

I think Move is 'harder' but CENTER is also a good workout when done daily imo.
