Yay! It's day 0 and the video is up ( at 6.03 for me). Let's do this! What a lovely gentle way to start. See you all tomorrow when we actually do a little bit of yoga.

Oh my word. That was all over the place.

Was too cold! And took a break!

UnaOfStormhold · 03/01/2023 09:53

I worked out how to do down dog to lunge transition during one of these 30 days and still get a satisfaction out of doing it now: my top tips are to get your weight and your knee a long way forward before you try and put the foot down - rock forward above your hands and think knee to nose. It also helps to lift up on the fingers of the hand on the moving side to get a crucial extra inch or two of space - if you watch you'll sometimes see Adriene doing it.

On the subject of transitions, watching her go from up dog to a down-dog-like position on the front of her toes in the intro video is simultaneously impressive and a bit painful to watch - my toes would not cope with that!

ladybranstonpickle · 03/01/2023 09:54

Did day 1 late last night - usually get into bed around 9:45-10pm and spend an hour scrolling or reading, but last night decided to take the 30 mins to do yoga instead. Lovely way to end the day! I'm glad I didn't think oh well, it's late, just catchup tomorrow. And I didn't feel like it would make it hard to sleep. Sometimes I feel that exercising too close to bedtime can negatively affect me, but not last night!

Looking forward to day 2 - will prob do it again just before bed.

Brontosaurus · 03/01/2023 10:12

Day two done. I also find the lunge forward difficult. I can't do it in one motion and have to sort of pull my foot forward with my hand Grin

For the seated position I put a cushion under my left knee as I have a hip injury on that side from when DD was born. Perhaps I should sit on it instead to keep things more balanced.

DD used the opportunity to get into all sorts of mischief this time. She belly flopped on me during the last bit so it turned into a cuddle/being elbowed in the stomach!

Looking forward to day three.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 03/01/2023 10:33

Day 2 done.

I cannot for the life of me walk Up the mat

I sort of hop

Anyone else get pins and needles in hands and wrists? After ddog?
Got them quite badly in child's pose today

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 03/01/2023 10:33

@Brontosaurus your DD sounds adorable! I get similar, but with dogs licking my head 😂

SunUpSunDown · 03/01/2023 12:46

Day Two done...I did mine around 0630. I realised today how much I need the breathing bits, I've got such a tendency to breathe in a very shallow way.

newmumtotwo24 · 03/01/2023 13:59

Just finished day 2, I wish I could do it at the same time each day but with the two kids that's just not possible so it'll be as and when for me. 3mo lay on her play mat in front of me and smiled at me throughout which was adorable. Finding it fairly tough I am very inflexible and my muscles are clearly very tight, sure it'll improve as the days go on.

ScottishBeth · 03/01/2023 14:43

Did Day 2 earlier today and I loved it! I really focused on the flat back bit after forward fold, if that makes sense. The figure 7 shape. I feel like I got something new out of that, which was nice.

@newmumtotwo24 your baby sounds adorable! Just gazing up at you doing yoga! I'm sure you will loosen up, but also there's no pressure to be flexible. Don't worry if you can't straighten your legs or whatever!

notanicepersonapparently · 03/01/2023 15:38

Day 2 done. Nice and simple practice but I did find it a bit difficult deep breathing while in child’s pose, but good to try something new.
I’ve enjoyed seeing the comments from the posters who are doing this for the first time or after a very long break. That was me a year ago and I’ve enjoyed doing this so much. I hope you do too.

Moonlightsonatas · 03/01/2023 15:40

Day 1 yesterday but it was a bit too energetic for me at bedtime so might do day 2 just after the kids have gone to bed instead.

VivietteConstantine · 03/01/2023 15:46

I'm a morning yoga person - I do yoga every morning, but only found Adriene in Feb last year. I enjoyed Move and Home, but Breathe was a bit slow for me.

I'm really enjoying Centre so far - it's really nice to have it to look forward to every morning, as I always find January hard mental health-wise.

VivietteConstantine · 03/01/2023 15:47

Has anyone used Adriene's Find What Feels Good app?
Is it worth the subscription over what is free on YouTube?

Brontosaurus · 03/01/2023 16:20

@Buttalapasta @dexterslockedintheshedagain

It is lovely...and adorable...but also wobbly, distracting and difficult Grin

BestIsWest · 03/01/2023 16:35

Day 2 done. Really enjoyed that although my arms were wobbly with all the plank to downward dog.
By October last year I was just managing cobra to plank but I’m back to the start on that. Never mind.

Weepingwillows12 · 03/01/2023 18:37

Really enjoyed day 2. Weird question but she hasn't said namaste at the end on either day so far. Keep expecting it and she doesn't say it. Wonder why she has stopped ?

Gufo · 03/01/2023 18:54

@Weepingwillows12 I noticed that! I've just been reading a Guardian article about cultural appropriation in yoga and wonder if it's related to a growing awareness in that?

BestIsWest · 03/01/2023 18:57

I seem to remember that she doesn’t say it in Move until later on.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 03/01/2023 19:51

Days 0,1 and 2 completed.
Affirmation: Because I want a strong core.
My yoga is early in the morning before everybody else is awake.

Yes I did for 5 years and then stopped because I found I was hardly using any of the extras and I felt I’d supported her through th early years.

Day 2 completed. My 18 month old joined me tonight as she didn't want to sleep. She paused the video whilst I was in mountain pose and I didn't notice so held that for a long time. Then fell on me during Shavasana 😂I'm really enjoying all of the breath work.

Ulysses · 03/01/2023 20:57

Day two done, eventually! That seemed short and sweet.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 03/01/2023 21:05

Day two done, feeling good! I've been missing the 'namaste', too, and I always say it to her after she says 'bye'...

I don't see how it comes under cultural appropriation, as long as it's used properly within the practice and not just like, 'namaste, bitches' in the office.

happytobemrsg · 03/01/2023 21:18

Day 2 completed! Enjoyed today’s session more than yesterday. Loved the stretching at the beginning. Of course struggling transitioning from DS to plank was extremely hard. Easier with half plank, maybe I need to work my way up. I looked slightly less ridiculous doing the neck elbow twist thing compared to yesterday so I’m taking that as a win.

I have a yoga block coming tomorrow. Can you please tell me where I could use it to help me in my practice (note, I’m a complete beginner).

Shinyandnew2022 · 03/01/2023 21:33

Yeay day 2 done and really enjoyed it.
I also have had a really sore neck and shoulders since a bad nights sleep last week and it already feels much better.
I would like to start experimenting with morning yoga but today it was hard enough just to get DD off to school and get to desk on time!
I need to be kind to myself in January.
Thanks for the yogamatters link - sorry can't recall who it was - lots of lovely mats I might treat myself once I am reliably back in the routine - though I did get a lovely
T shirt from the pop up shop during Move last January .
I have also been saying namaste even though she hasn't. I am also missing the view from last time and get a bit distracted by her shelves ..
anyway it feels so good to be doing this again and I love the busy thread .
