Did day 20 ritual today.
Cannot do happy baby! I put my hands on my thighs as can’t reach my feet!

Rummikub · 20/10/2022 13:16

BestIsWest · 18/10/2022 17:22

9 and 10 done. That’s the 9th time I’ve done 10 this year and it rang no bells whatsoever.

I find this a lot too! Big gaps in memory of certain days.

notanicepersonapparently · 20/10/2022 15:41

I'm glad it's not just me. Grin

UnaOfStormhold · 20/10/2022 17:51

How could I forget a practice called "snuggle"?!

ScottishBeth · 20/10/2022 18:58

@Rummikub I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't do happy baby! It's called happy baby - it should be easy!

I've continued with my daily yoga! Today I did Side Body Flow, which was quote difficult. I should remember anything called flow is going to be physical!

BestIsWest · 20/10/2022 19:18

Did day 11 today - very gentle one. I can do a one legged happy baby!

OP posts:
Rummikub · 20/10/2022 20:07

I might have to try a one legged happy baby too. I think my tum is getting in the way. The name of it makes me think it’s easy but no!

Sooverthemill · 21/10/2022 10:09

I love happy baby! Still really rubbish so no yoga. Maybe November? Hope everyone is well x

ScottishBeth · 23/10/2022 15:11

@Sooverthemill sorry you're still not well! Hope you feel better soon.

Today is day 14 for me of doing yoga every day. I delighted with myself! Can I ask everyone what benefits you've found from it?

notanicepersonapparently · 23/10/2022 15:47

@ScottishBeth
The benefits I've noticed have been less upper back ache which had become a bit of a problem and my upper arms are much more toned. I'm also feeling very pleased with myself for sticking with this for 9 months now as I generally hate exercise Smile

Rummikub · 23/10/2022 15:59

I was pleased to see that day 23 was called Soften.

Benefits for me have been mainly improved my mood. And possibly posture if I do it regularly.

BestIsWest · 23/10/2022 16:04

The strength in my legs is the biggest benefit for me. I suffered from parathyroid/ vit D issues which can cause proximal muscle weakness so I got tired walking and climbing stairs - at one time I really struggled to get up off the ground. It’s made much more of a difference than gym/swimming.

OP posts:
Rummikub · 23/10/2022 16:05

That’s amazing best!

Sooverthemill · 24/10/2022 10:02

Thanks @ScottishBeth . I now have tonsillitis so not feeling great!

Rummikub · 24/10/2022 18:37

Oh no that’s awful soover! I sympathise. I had Covid then tonsillitis two weeks later. Hope you feel better soon x

ScottishBeth · 24/10/2022 20:32

@Sooverthemill oh no! Tonsillitis sounds horrible! Hope you feel better soon.

That's great to hear of the benefits. I'm mostly hoping for an improvement in my mood and my flexibility - I have been doing some flexibility work for a while, but not consistently enough to have made any big improvements. Getting stronger would also be fab, especially in my core.

After hearing lots of good things about the Move 30 day programme, I started it today. Given I've done plenty of down dogs, 3 legged dogs and planks over the last couple of weeks I was surprised by how difficult it was! But still good. My intention is to do the full programme, but I'm not going to stress about doing it in 30 days. If one day I feel especially shattered or fragile I'll do a different video that day.

BestIsWest · 26/10/2022 17:39

I think that’s a good plan @ScottishBeth . I would say that I find the first few days of Move are tough but Day 5 is lovely.
Just done Day 14 which I didn’t part like - skipped the breathing at the start and end and did a few of my own things instead.
Hope you are on the mend soon @Sooverthemill

Hello all just checking in - been a bit inconsistent but think I am making it to the mat more days than I miss so I will take that.
@Sooverthemill so sorry you are still unwell.
Hopefully you will be back in action for Move November .
@ScottishBeth welcome and well done !
The benefits I have felt are mood , sleep , flexibility, no achey joints ,core strength- and best for me a yoga session gives me the same energy boost I used to get from a nap !
I just feeli like I cope with everything better for it .

ScottishBeth · 28/10/2022 14:11

Just done day 5 today and yes, it is lovely! And also today I managed the transition from 3 legged dog to foot on the outside of my hands (preparing for lizard) on the second side! I think that's probably easier than downward dog to lunge, but it's still not something I would have managed previously. And I was able to transition back to 3 legged dog as well. Had to shuffle my hands a bit but much better than going to my knees and back up. I love lizard so much, don't have the hip flexibility to get forearms down but it still feels so nice.

Am so glad I've found this thing to do during LO's naptime, and that she naps so well!

BestIsWest · 28/10/2022 17:21

Day 15 accompanied by the dogs who were overjoyed at the chance to join in and managed to butt me in the eye during downward dog. Won’t make that mistake again.

I finally got Day 11 done today. It's been tricky to find the time. 20 min sessions I can do. 30 min hard to find the time

Rummikub · 29/10/2022 13:52

I was browsing Mumsnet before I got up. And luckily saw the yoga thread.
so I did say 28- tlc
a v brief 17 mins!! I think the sweet spot is around 20 mins too , 30 too long.

Rummikub · 30/10/2022 14:02

Day 29. As I don’t like the freestyle day 30.

part way thorough I had to stop and watch as I wasn’t sure what she was doing and it didn’t make sense. A leg in the air and sort of rolling🤷🏽‍♀️

BestIsWest · 30/10/2022 17:03

16 today which is bad as it means I’ve missed 14 days this month. Will be better next month.
I agree 30 mins is too long.

UnaOfStormhold · 30/10/2022 17:43

Day 27 tonight, might try to double up so I can fit in 28 and 29 before the end of the month. I always enjoy the freeform day when I do the series for the first time but never get into it on subsequent days.

I definitely agree on 20 minutes being the sweet spot - I do mine last thing before bed and 20 minutes is enough to relax me properly without it taking so long that it starts to cut into sleeping time.
