Help with holiday entitlement

Need some help understanding annual leave.
I am a part time worker I work 22.hrs per week Monday to friday.
My annual leave year runs from 1st Jan to December 31st.
My contract states 28 days that's including bank holidays.
Having problems understanding how to work out my entitlement.
So for example last year I took 10 days annual leave,then I took a further 8 days a few weeks later,which was all approved,the 8 days I didn't get any annual leave pay at all as I was told I'd gone over my annual leave entitlement,
I have been told to look at my wage slip each month to see how much I've accrued each month.
So for example I've looked at my most current wage slip of end of Feb and so far I've worked 2 months and accrued 132.00 of holiday,I've been told my hoilday is based on hours but the accrued holiday on my wage slip is 132.00 which is in pounds,
Please if I am wrong,I thought you only had to accrue holiday if you are new to a company or started part way through the year,I have been at this company for 5 years,if anyone can help me work out my annual leave and does 2 days or 9 hrs seem enough annual leave for working 2 months so far this year?

based on your part-time hours, you should be entitled to around 16.5 days of annual leave per year, including bank holidays.

No she should be entitled to 28 days of annual leave per year. It's just her day is 4.5 hours not 8 hours.

It doesn;'t matter, it's just that it's such a convuluted method that most only use it for irregular workers. we used to have a holiday fund but that was because we were part of a construction industry scheme called Welplan whereby we as a company bought Holiday Credits based on various things. I was so glad when they stopped that.

But I think your company have calculated things incorrectly.

I've run your thos months figures through my payroll software and if you have worked 99 hours this month then this month alone you have accrued 12 hours holiday which based on your hourly rate of £12 equals £144

What are the column titles eg what do the June dates refer to?

You should be accruing 1.66 days holiday per month or 0.38 days per week (plus your bank holidays)

So on my wage slip which I saw you said you looked at,is that wrong

I'm guessing the 1 with red box denying pay is the holidays column and the other 1 is the sick leave. It doesn't show 28 days leave

That's up to the company. our contracts say everyone accrues leave too. we are flexible with it, but would not allow someone to take all their holiday by February.

I had 2 sick days in June this when I was off with covid,my cut off is 25th each month,as I had 5 days off all together so 2 days went on my June pay slip the other 3 days on my July wage slip

Important question. I suspect this may be where there calculations are going astray.

So for example when I took 10days I was paid 540.00 holiday pay 10 x 54 = 540.00

Taking bank holidays off by the end of May you should have accrued 8 days so I think they are definitely doing something wrong.

They are entitled not to pay you if you want 5 days off in February but most companies would allow that. Are they a small business eg a family business who don't really know about payroll.

So if the middle column is sick days then you have been paid for 10 days (possible 11 due to the one sick day paid in error) plus bank holidays. That is 10 days short of the statutory minimum and you have a good case to take it to tribunal.

My gut feeling is that someone has thought she works half the hours so is entitled to half the holiday and is calculating accordingly forgetting that half the hours in a day still means the same number of days, not half.

Lots of places do have that policy yes. I couldn't take all my holiday early in the annual leave year.

So I have an app on my phone,which I use to clock in and out of work each time,I also use it to book my annual leave,so I just book the dates,then a few days later it get accepted or declined

Did they pay the sick days as £54 a day as well? Or were they at £0/SSP?

If they have paid 12 "sick" days as holiday plus 10 actual holiday days plus bank holidays I can see (sort of) how they have got to you using up all your annual leave pay.

But they should have agreed with you whether your sick days were to be taken as annual leave rather than unpaid/SSP.

Is their system deducting 4.5 hours or 9 hours though? They're doing something wrong anyway

I'm not sure,on the breakdown I posted on here,it just says 11 days Sick,which 1 day was paid in error,so I just assume the other 10 days were all unpaid
