45 hour week for £26,700 per annum: thoughts please....?

This seems like a very long week to me (I'm moving from part-time to full-time so it's a bit of a shock!)

Crazy hours for that salary. I wouldn't do it.

So that would be 8-6 Monday to Friday, including a one hour unpaid lunch break? Seems a lot for that salary.

Are you counting the lunchbreak as part of your working hours?

If it’s 45 hours not including your unpaid break, it’s under National Minimum Wage, so not just crap pay, but illegal.

Take off 5 x 1hr lunch breaks and the hours would be about right.

If it's 45 hours worked, that's less than minimum wage. If you've got unpaid breaks included in the 45 hours, then it's legal but not well paid.

I've confirmed that it's 45 hours including a paid 30min lunch break.
It's a job with responsibility so I'm surprised they are paying so little. My DH wonders if they expect me to negotiate salary. It's definitely not a job for someone unskilled or inexperienced as you'd expect on minimum wage. It's such a huge chunk of time to work for them- 9 hours a day. I have two primary school aged kids.

It's a paid 30 min lunch break

So I guess that works out as 42.5 hours of work plus 2.5 hours of paid lunch break. It's minimum wage. Gutted really as the role involves taking responsibility for children and their medical needs - so dealing with any medical emergency and administering medicine etc.

Legally, for a 9 hour shift there would need to be a 15 mins break too

Is it pro rata when you work in a school you get paid for the holidays and to do this you get the same every month so it works out less than minimum wage because you get paid for the 13 week school holidays

well, salaried roles are often not the minimum wage, that only applies to wages. More per hour than many teachers, I think
