Hi all!

im patiently waiting for the outcome of my interview that i had yesterday. They said by the end of the week/early next week. Came out of it feeling positive but the more time that goes on the more im feeling that I actually didn’t do as well as I first thought.

anyone else waiting for an interview outcome?😁

Six months later 🤯

Fofftwenty21 · 14/05/2024 19:00

I had an interview today I'm not sure if I'd take it if offered due to longer commute and them needing me in the office more days than I do now.

Will wait and see!

Echobelly · 14/05/2024 19:09

Good luck everyone!

I had two final round ones last week... the one I thought was maybe the best bet didn't go all that well, so pretty sure it's a 'no'. There was an unexpected project management test that was on stuff I didn't really think it would be about, but even if I had known it was coming I don't think I could have prepared. It was awfully specific to the work they do so I don't know if anyone would have answered it very well, but I think I just didn't give a strong enough answer.

The other one went about as well as it could but I could be pipped at the post by someone with more solid experience in some areas. I don't think they were planning on a 3rd round, but I wouldn't be wholly surprised if I were asked for one more interview as they were down to 3 or 4 people last week. I have slight concerns as to whether they're going to offer enough money if they do offer, although I did name my expectations right at the start of the process, so hopefully it's realistic.

I think tomorrow is the earliest I'll hear about either - people have been pretty crappy about getting back about interviews with a 'no' but if I haven't heard from either by Friday, that's what I'll assume.

Well done @Hopefulnurse24 !

Got a bit excited for a moment as actually got a phone call from the one that went well last week, but it was a no; as I thought might happen they saw someone with hands-on experience of an important aspect I understood well but hadn't actually done.

That only leaves the other one that didn't go well, so I guess both are out. BUT did have a promising interview for one where they need more than one person and there may be temp/freelancing options and now I have the guy's contact details, if it doesn't work out I will ask him about the latter.

Bit concerned as I haven't had any response to anything from the last fortnight, eg since I started having to send my CV with the dates showing I'm now out of work as I know that frustratingly employers get less keen on unemployed people 🙁, although that said, none of them are roles I'm feeling are that obvious to call back, but it would be nice if I had something else lined up next week.

I haven't worked since February 2023, and I got a job offer last week. I just said I'd been made redundant and hadn't always been looking hard (which is true.)

Thisismynewname123 · 16/05/2024 06:38

Congratulations @Hopefulnurse24. @YorkshireLondonMiss well done also, but sorry to hear about your marriage.
Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear

Thisismynewname123 · 16/05/2024 06:45

@LightSpeeds your interview sounds very similar to mine. Also civil service. So much prep, it was so time consuming with a long statement for the application and then a presentation as part of the interview. It was an internal job so I had some idea of how the scoring works. I figured it was better to ask them to repeat the question so that I answered it properly to get the scores. I didn't feel it went well because of the amount of times I forgot the question halfway through answering and asked them to repeat it, so I also wonder how bad the others were.

swapcicles · 16/05/2024 06:47

I had an interview last Thursday, got offered it the next day! Have accepted and start in just under two weeks.
Only thing is a job I applied for ages ago has offered me an interview tomorrow so hoping the timing works so I can either refuse the first job or start as I planned to l, whichever job will be best.

HellonHeels · 16/05/2024 07:44

Im on my last interview today, a second interview with another presentation.

This will be interview no.7, really feeling tired now.

MrsJamin · 16/05/2024 08:05

@HellonHeels you can do it! You've obviously got this far because people have seen your skills.
I'm still waiting. 😣

So, last Friday I found out I didn't get the job I was waiting to hear on. I got down to the last 2 people and then got a no - that's the 3rd time that's happened since I started job hunting last September. It REALLY dented my confidence. I've just had a second round interview this morning for a job I'm less qualified for and all I can think is there's no way I'll get the job. I was really positive after the last one, this time I just feel defeated 😥

EBearhug · 16/05/2024 11:30

Yes, I had a string of "you came a close second" responses, which is splendid, but not a job offer...

Echobelly · 16/05/2024 11:36

@firebrand123 - yeah, I'm in a similar position, a couple of second rounds down, but nothing positive. Last one was a bit of a downer as it confirms that even if I can talk a good game, I do lack the hands-on experience of some aspects of the jobs like that and if I can't convince them of that area in the field I've worked in for last twelve years, I doubt I can convince anyone it another field. It''s what keeps taking me out at second stage.

At least unlike last time I was redundant I don't have mortgage or childcare costs... that was so frustrating because every time I thought maybe I could train in something else, maybe I could take a lower paid role I remembered that childcare rendered that impossible (DH's salary meant I wasn't eligible for any in-work benefits, but childcare would have cost more than I could earn if I took any step back in salary at all at the time). I'm wondering about taking a lower paid contract/temp role just to get that experience; it would suck for 6 months or so but we could manage and maybe I could address the skills gap that way

firebrand123 · 16/05/2024 11:50

@EBearhug it's so disheartening isn't it? In some ways I find it worse than not getting that far. It doesn't really result in any practical advice either, more just "we really liked you but we liked the other person better", or "the other person had more experience" (which clearly they will have known from the start).

@Echobelly that's how I feel, I can talk a good enough game to get me so far but then I fall down. It might be worth trying the role to get the experience if you can do that, unless there's a short course or something you can do to top up your skills?

I hate sitting here feeling negative, I feel like I'm almost creating a self fulfilling prophecy, but it's so hard to hope for the best and risk feeling let down again!

Best of luck to everyone else hunting, it's rough out there ❤

Gruffalosaurus · 16/05/2024 11:55

Ooo I had an interview yesterday and supposed to hear by tomorrow. It went well, I had a very positive vibe. It's my 4th interview so hopefully this time it will be ok!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 17/05/2024 08:04

Still no outcome.

Another interview next week - same organisation, different (and much better paid on paper) role. But it's part time when I need FT hours and salary.

I've got savings, but it feels like a massive gamble. If offered it, do I take it and try frantically to find something to top it up to FT? Might be getting ahead of myself, but I know I'm very well qualified and experienced, so there's a good chance.

CoralClouds · 17/05/2024 08:38

Have just found this thread, could have done with the support this week!

I had my final round interview on Tuesday, emailed the following day asking when I could expect a decision as I had completely forgotten to ask, and was told yesterday that I would hear on Monday. Then, completely out of the blue yesterday I got a phone call telling me I’ve got the job!!

Such a rollercoaster as I have been in a toxic company for almost 2 years and have been dreaming of this moment for so long.

Congratulations @Hopefulnurse24 and good luck to everyone still waiting, it’s absolutely the worst part!

ScarfAndGlassesgirl · 17/05/2024 09:40

Hi can I join the chat

I have a 4th round interview today for a role which would be a 25% increase in base salary and I know I could do it easily with my skills and experience...however if I don't get it that's not the end of the world I have a good flexibility set up but feel very unfulfilled and not stretched or any progression opportunities

So I shall soon be also awaiting outcomes!!

firebrand123 · 17/05/2024 09:47

@NeverDropYourMooncup I think it's generally easier to find work when you're in work, if you know what I mean, so I'd be inclined to accept it and either top it up or keep looking for FT elsewhere. Good luck!

Congrats @CoralClouds !

Good luck today @ScarfAndGlassesgirl

I have another first round interview today. I didn't get a great vibe from the HR woman, she seemed to think it's too senior a role for me which I know it's not, but that put me off.. someone clearly wants to interview me, but I hope her snooty approach isn't indicative of the company!

ScarfAndGlassesgirl · 17/05/2024 09:55

Ooo @firebrand123 all the best!!! But like you say the attitude of the first people you contact can sometimes have major impact on your overall vibe of the company!!
