Please help.
im 59 and desperate for work. I’ve had the odd shop job. I don’t have any skills, years ago I did design, well I can do design but my photoshop and illustrator skills let me down.
im supposed to retire and I can’t, ever I don’t think.
is it ridiculous to apply to be a teacher? By the time I get in the course I’ll be 60.so that’s stupid, I’d have to do maths o level too.
what can I do? Is there some sort of help out there? Are there courses? Not degree but just something to get me into a job. I’m so stuck and lost and anxious. It’s causing massive riffs between me and Dh. I don’t know how I got to this age without a job, I get the odd bit of freelance but it doesn’t last. I’m too anxious to think straight.

Hello, me again. Just popping on to say hi. I’m amazed at how many helpful mns took time to write, thank you.
I’m feeling a bit pathetic lack of confidence atm. Which is why I’ve re read this with interest. Interesting to read again several months on. mainly because DH in a stress spiral and is moaning because he has to earn all the money. I earn some, not much, not enough to live off.
i get a lot of good reactions to my work, and I’d like to do more somehow. I guess I’m asking how I can build my confidence to do so. At the moment every thing is a struggle mentally, and I’ll hide under the duvet rather than get up/clean/ be proactive etc.
thanks!

Hey. Flip this on the head. You have experience that can be transferred to a job my mum sold her business at 55. And she became a nursery worker and worked in the baby room. She loved it. Then got a job at M&S. You definitely have options.

Maybe treat yourself to a another session with the Business coach?

Or remind your husband that you had a perfectly good job that he encouraged bullied you out of back in November 2023!

We've gone full circle Pinky - only you know how many times you're prepared to go round again!

This! I remember his constant harassment of you to get a job but as soon as you did he hounded you to give it up xx
