Pay with Dict8

juju1507 · 09/03/2015 09:19

I have been working s/e with Dict8 for 3 years now and my payment by cheques are arriving later and later. My last cheque arrived 8 days after it was issued and I noticed they are now sending cheques second class. Does anyone else work for Dict8 on here and, if so, are you finding that your cheque is arriving much later than it used to? I have direct debits set up deliberately for the middle of the month in order that my cheque would have cleared in time but now I am worrying that even by 15th of each month the cheque will not have cleared. Sorry for the ramble but just curious if others have noticed this.

While sitting here constantly refreshing the page to only manage 3 tasks all day, I was thinking about Trusts being offered free DDWM equipment to enable the secretaries to work from home. Due to the fact that most clinics have been cancelled and doctors are doing telephone consultations their typing work must be limited just as ours is. However, NHS staff who are working from home are still being paid their NHS salaries so, unlike us, whether they type letters or not they are still being paid. If Dict8 have offered their equipment free of charge surely, if very little transcription work is coming through, they are also losing money so wouldn't it have been better for work to continue flowing through the system so that Dict8 and us transcribers could continue earning or am I over-thinking this?

@ElleBee56 - thinking about James' last email where he mentioned he thought typing would have picked up sooner, I don't think he envisioned this situation, which was a little short sighted of him. He has probably kicked himself several times (at least) since with all the loss of revenue.
We can only hope we qualify for the government money paid in June for self-employed people (not had any letter yet, but they are contacting people in May I thought).

Chrissols · 29/04/2020 17:50

I managed to grab a few tasks this afternoon, but gosh you have to be so quick......

Gally123 · 29/04/2020 17:58

funnily enough I had an email this afternoon from HMRC regarding income support webinar with an option of about 5 dates/times but when I tried to register I got the message that it was already full. Have no idea what a webinar is anyway. Anyone else had the message and managed to register?

Chrissols · 30/04/2020 09:13

@Gally123 HMRC say they will never contact you by email so take extra care following any links from emails

Gally123 · 30/04/2020 09:23

@Chrissols - no it was HMRC as I regularly get emails from them with general advice about tax forms etc, reminders to pay or submit the form. Also I queried with them via Facebook messenger and it was from them.

Having had spam/fake emails from people in the past regarding things like Paypal accounts (which I did not have) etc I can spot a scam (usually in the return email address or spelling mistakes in the email itself etc) and then I forward them onto the relevant people.
HMRC do contact you by email - but never ask for personal information or say you are due a refund etc.

Juju, very grim indeed. I only typed one more letter yesterday so totalling 3 altogether Sad. I gave up the ghost after 3.30 'cos I was just so fed-up with the whole thing. But, hey ho, here I am again today doing the same repetitive thing and being careful with the refresh button in mind!

danblack87 · 30/04/2020 10:02

My tax man (BOB) does all my HMRC 'stuff'. I had an e-mail once from HMRC which I queried with him and he told me it was 'spam'. He wrote to me recently about the possibility of being eligible for some money from the Government and he is looking into that for me too (he mentioned a sum but I cannot remember how much it was (my brain is fatigued by quarantine).

danblack87 · 30/04/2020 14:20

So, one short letter today so far.

Chrissols · 30/04/2020 14:57

@danblack87 I have had very little today

Chrissols · 30/04/2020 15:04

How long was it DICT8 said they were lending the equipment to trusts for?

danblack87 · 01/05/2020 09:16

I only typed the one letter all day yesterday. Nothing yet so far. Chrissols: The email said 'Free of Charge to Trusts during this period'. Presumably 'this period' is as long as COVID-19 restrictions are in place and we need to wait for ease in lockdown? So I guess it is open to interpretation at the moment and what Dict8 decide to do?

Chrissols · 01/05/2020 09:41

Isn't it hard just sitting, waiting, just in case a task should appear......

danblack87 · 01/05/2020 11:15

It is very hard - I have given up hoping a flurry of 100 or so will come through .. just taking it a day at a time now Sad but not expecting any whopping surprises!

juju1507 · 01/05/2020 13:22

Ah remember the good old days when you would get emails saying "We have a fair amount of work in speciality xxxx"
Two tasks for me this morning so far...

The good old days seem SOoooooo distant now. Let's hope the cheques arrive quick smart for the small amount that we have done - I posted mine this morning; But, then again, I have never had a problem with payment on time; well, except once when the cheque did not arrive at all so I was able to e-mail the invoice and the cheque came within 3-4 days.

Chrissols · 01/05/2020 14:07

I got two tasks early today so thought I was off to a good start......nothing since

Meha5 · 01/05/2020 14:08

what's the feeling when you miss that one daily task that shows up : ) : ) : ) ???

Chrissols · 01/05/2020 14:14

Very stressful

Chrissols · 01/05/2020 14:25

how long is it since anyone has seen a task? I keep thinking my machine is on the blink.

danblack87 · 01/05/2020 15:15

I had a task within the last ten minutes and some earlier but they are very slow coming through, as usual. I have been keeping myself busy with clearing out my upstairs and downstairs cupboards so I may have missed some; then again, even if I had seen them, I might not have been quick enough to pick them up in time!!

Gally123 · 02/05/2020 13:06

After my failure to register for the HMRC webinar on how to apply for income support for the self-employed as all the dates/times last Thursday/Friday were full I managed to contact them and have now successfully got on the webinar for next Thursday. There appeared to be lots of times still available for Wednesday and Thursday - each webinar in 45 mins so won't miss much typing time - assuming any tasks are available and if it helps getting access to the government grants etc what harm can do it? Check out the HMRC website for the details if you want some help in applying for the money.

Lucylizzy123 · 02/05/2020 13:19

Hello Gally 123
Do HMRC contact you directly either by email or post, or do you apply to them for the allowance?

Gally123 · 03/05/2020 17:30

@Lucylizzy123 According to the first email I had a while ago HMRC will contact people who are eligible to apply, so you have to wait for them to contact you but I think you can still book for a webinar while you wait. The timescale for them to contact people is up to mid May I think, and the payments are in June.

danblack87 · 04/05/2020 14:57

How long since anyone saw a Task today … is there something wrong with getting the jobs through? I have logged out and logged back in again several times and refreshed multiple times but nothing seems to be happening Sad it's like a very slow drip-feed?!
