Pay with Dict8

I have been working s/e with Dict8 for 3 years now and my payment by cheques are arriving later and later. My last cheque arrived 8 days after it was issued and I noticed they are now sending cheques second class. Does anyone else work for Dict8 on here and, if so, are you finding that your cheque is arriving much later than it used to? I have direct debits set up deliberately for the middle of the month in order that my cheque would have cleared in time but now I am worrying that even by 15th of each month the cheque will not have cleared. Sorry for the ramble but just curious if others have noticed this.

@MiHa5, yes I agree some of the dictation is appalling. Chewing, breathing heavily, yawning, very heavily accented or grammatically awful. I think they should add "how to dictate letters properly" to all the junior doctors' training.

@Gally123, I once asked if we could ring the secretaries to query the names of Registrars etc but was told this would be against Data Protection laws! Also, in a letter I would use the "1/2" symbol of course, it was just easier to type the word when I was replying just now.

So T-Pro have no work either. I have typed three letters for them in the past 10 days.
With Dict8 I do have some specialities which has allowed me a bit more work I guess. Cardiology, Psychiatry and Occy Health too. Cardiology is my main earner though. I remember being a bit Hmm when they added Veterinary as well! but all helps...when there is work that is. It's all a bit dire really isn't it. Just keep refreshing endlessly.
I still don't get why they don't get with the times and pay directly into our bank and why can't we email our invoices directly to them? It makes no sense to me.

@Gally123 We don't know who the other proof readers are so there's no way of knowing if we're checking a proof reader's letter. I know it's galling getting stupid feedback though so I'm quite relaxed about it and try not to be petty. I've had feedback before where they were moaning that I'd changed "a test that is" to a "a test which is" (or maybe the other way round, I can't remember). There's no point in sending things like that, it's just stupid.

MiHa5 · 01/04/2020 13:06

I was told by DICT8 that Drs names/addresses etc were for the secretary at the other end to look up, if the person dictating did not spell the names out etc. I also feel the ALTN box is taken advantage and should also be part of the per line scenario.

smiffypeabrain · 01/04/2020 13:31

I think if a pandemic doesn't force the hand to Email invoices and be paid directly then nothing will.

Someone did mention, either upthread or on another thread that the monies sit in their account for an extra week gaining interest the invoice/cheque way.

Chrissols · 01/04/2020 13:38

but they must lose a lot of interest in postage?

MiHa5 · 01/04/2020 13:59

I think I'll start doing YouTube exercises while I'm waiting - better to be fit and bored I suppose

Chrissols · 01/04/2020 14:04

Thing is we are waiting but not knowing if anything will come it.....it's awful at the moment

Lucylizzy123 · 01/04/2020 14:14

I agree how the culture has changed. I too ignore most of the petty feedback I get, but obviously take on board a genuine error/mistake that might have been made. Again, if you query a proofreader's comments you are met with quite an aggressive attitude. I think we are all singing from the same hymn sheet on this.

MiHa5 · 01/04/2020 15:00

@Lucylizzy123, I have learnt to ignore the petty feedback too, like Gally123 said, if you haven't got the whole letter in front of you in order to defend yourself, I see no point in responding now. A friend did and she who should not be named reacted with fury - had this been in a normal work environment the woman would definitely have been sacked. The emails sent were above and beyond what was acceptable - something that would never have happened a few years ago.

Chrissols · 01/04/2020 15:22

I just happy it isn't just me that receives it.....it can make you paranoid

IamVictoria · 01/04/2020 16:15
  • Refreshes task list
  • Ooo 16 letters!
  • Types one
  • Aaand they're gone
Chrissols · 01/04/2020 16:17

I think you must of been looking at the same list as me, I thought we were on a roll........gone within seconds

Lucylizzy123 · 01/04/2020 16:21

So it was you grabbing all the tasks!!!!

At least we can all keep up a sense of humour.

Chrissols · 01/04/2020 16:23

Just managed to grab one, you have to be so quick.....

MiHa5 · 02/04/2020 11:08

I was wondering whether DICT8 are drip-feeding us work as we all seem to be getting the same amount per day. Is this because they think we will not cash in our lines if it is a pathetic amount?

Chrissols · 02/04/2020 11:24

I have only had one task today and it was a very short one..

Lucylizzy123 · 02/04/2020 11:29

None for me so far today!

Lucylizzy123 · 02/04/2020 11:31

I hope we do actually get paid this month, even though a miserly amount. I am sure they wont be in a rush to issue cheques.

Chrissols · 02/04/2020 11:37

They will still get paid so they will have to pay us, it's so worrying though the lack of work....

Lucylizzy123 · 02/04/2020 11:47

Yes it is. I did ask the question earlier about any assistance from the government as self employed people. I know they will write to those who are eligible, but I was wondering if there are any thoughts as to whether we would be eligible for this. Reading through everything I think we might, but I don't know if I am interpreting this correctly. Any thought out there?

Chrissols · 02/04/2020 11:51

I haven't looked into that as don't know how it would work with our different amounts every month, I am guessing it will go on yearly earnings averaged out over 12 months.

MiHa5 · 02/04/2020 12:04

@Lucylizzy123 not sure, as we work from home anyway and DICT8 are still operating sending out work.

Chrissols · 02/04/2020 12:06

But they are only sending out very minimal work, certainly not enough to live on

Chrissols · 02/04/2020 12:10

so far today I have made £4
