TLDR version: Sandie Peggie vs Royal College of Nursing is currently being heard. The hearing started on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and is scheduled to end on Thursday 1 October 2026.

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims were of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claimed to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and after a prolonged process judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025. That judgment is being appealed and an appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027.

Additional legal claims have been raised. Sandie Peggie is taking action against the Royal College of Nursing, against three senior managers who were witnesses in the employment tribunal - Dr Kate Searle, Dr Maggie Currer and Esther Davidson, against Carol Potter, the chief executive of NHS Fife, for victimisation, against NHS Fife for discrimination, and against its director of people and culture David Miller for harassment. In addition, Sandie Peggie is being investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council over fitness to practice.

How near the top of the ponzi scheme union is this woman?

She doesn't need to hop to see over the pinnacle.

You could make half of an Ooey-gooey coffee slice (although you really want to make the full recipe)

Nona’s Ooey Gooey Coffee Oat Slices

Base:
· 175 g butter
· 113 g sugar
· 220 g plain flour
· 1 generous teaspoon instant coffee

Middle:
· 397 g can condensed milk
· 50 g butter
· 2 teaspoons instant coffee

Topping:
· 50 g butter, melted
· 2 tablespoons golden syrup
· 1 cup rolled oats
· 1 cup desiccated coconuts

Cream the butter with the sugar, add the coffee (I dissolve it in about a teaspoon boiling water first), mix in the flour. Put it into a baking tin lined with baking paper, press down evenly. I use a tin that is 21 x 24 cm. Bake at 180 °C for 15 minutes.
In the meantime, heat the condensed milk with the butter and coffee (again dissolved in a very small volume of boiling water first) until it boils, take off the heat after the first bubbles appear and let it cool a little.
Melt the butter for the topping, mix the golden syrup into the butter, add oats and coconuts and mix well.
After 15 minutes take the tin from the oven, pour the milk mix over the base, evenly sprinkle the oat crumble on top and bake for another 20 minutes. It might need a few minutes longer, it depends on the oven.
Let it cool in the tin for 5-10 minutes before putting it on a cooling rack.

It was going so well until ..

Topping:
· 50 g butter, melted
· 2 tablespoons golden syrup
· 1 cup rolled oats
· 1 cup desiccated coconuts

· 1 cup desiccated coconuts devil's dandruff

Translation of "no longer correct" - illegal.

I hope NC asks her about the other nurses and what went on there, including why they were told to write homework about their "values".

How did he find the condensed milk when he was making flapjacks, then? All those tins.....

I don't think Wittgenstein did say this, tbh. Perhaps it was the condensed milk issue that stopped him.

I bet you could substitute this - it's the stuff Bounty fillings are made of and I dare you to criticise it.

You could probably make it without or with more oats or some seeds thrown in, sesame would work well, I think, or maybe some chopped hazelnuts or almonds. Having said all that, ds doesn't usually like coconut (unless as cream in a curry) but this is his favourite cakey thing nonetheless.

I'm repeating myself from yesterday but - wouldn't it be good if all unions' first action when faced with a difficult case was to say
'Right folks- what does the law/workplace regulations/ etc have to say about it, and we'll take it from there'

RoseInAPot · 30/09/2026 10:40

prh47bridge · 30/09/2026 10:31

To be fair, we have the Convention, the Court and the Commission all using the same four letters. I have been known to use all the right letters but not necessarily in the right order sometimes, which can confuse others although I always know which one I'm referring to! This may be the journalist getting it wrong, or it may be the journalist using the abbreviation and a sub-editor getting it wrong.

Couldn't resist working in a Morecambe and Wise reference!

True, but we should expect better from the Times; the journalist didn't use the abbreviation, he wrote it all out. Someone should have spotted it and corrected it but they clearly don't understand the context.

Perhaps the journalist and editor should read the comments on their articles?

It's like sofa dressing, isn't it? They're so busy picking what colours the cushions and fabric will be that they've forgotten to assemble the frame.

It was mentioned earlier that SF would be unlikely to know how it felt to be intimidated by another man in the same room.

And isn't Bethany Hutchinson beautiful? There seems to be visible joy between those three women, Sandie, Bethany and Jennifer. It’s so heartening to see them supporting each other.

Bethany Hutchison looks like a woman who has found her purpose in life. Nursing is a very good and important job but I suspect constraining (even if she didn't recognise it). Building and leading an organisation to support women has given her a real glow.

Plus she's beautiful.

From TT:

to find balance between people who have different views and some with no particular views is challenging.
DH EHRC any particular angle RCN would like to see
PM We were hoping for clearer guidance for our members as to how to care for patients in day to day work

PM Code hasn't answered those qs yet
DH Case has heard from Jennifer Wilmot, recognised complexities for nurses dealing with t patients,
PM We've had a lot of feedback from members - biggest concern as to how to care for patients who are t.

Can you have more GC beliefs? You either believe in sex based reality or you don't. You can't think that you can change your sex a little bit, or that some people can and some people can't. You either hold GC beliefs or you don't.
